As somebody that doesn't have a lot of money, I always make sure to take care of anybody who helped me out in a pinch, even if that means I have to go without eating or a late bill.. always take care of people who help you. Sad part is, nobody else thinks like that.

A few people do go without because some bills just get worse if not done but its often people spend too much money on junk. A leak leads to possible engine damage, more then cash the man is owed a proper thankyou. Its a tip for buying cars also, dont buy where its not been maintained

Been a mechanic about 23ish years now. I will NEVER do retail repairs again. Nice construction companies are willing to pay well for someone who knows what they are doing to keep their equipment running and i have never had to deal with this situation again.
The title of your video is very true.
Absorb this video and take it in guys and don't forget it!

One day when dealerships treat techs correctly perhaps but as of right now the truth is very simple. No one respects mechanics or auto techs. They think we are janitors and toilet scrubbers with wrenches not professionals.

I do mechanic work on side, money upfront unless you can feel them out, being broke myself taught me.

I'm a mobile boat mechanic, and I have this issue come up from time to time. I try not to deal with people who don't have money to fix their boats because if i go to change oil, I usually find other big issues that need to be addressed, and I can't because of financial issues from the customer. I also deal with keys not being in the boat and boats out of gas.

Trust me, empty gas tanks & auto mechanics work go hand in hand. It's like they have " let me use up all this gas & take it in empty ' attitude .
    It's rich, poor, it's everyone. 🤷
    * Our solution was not putting just enough to test drive , but we filled her up & you got the bill with the BILL . It worked like a charm . Except on a cpl of instances , "where you charged me a full tank but it's not full " 😳 🤦

There’s a fine line to walk. Rich people can be just as scummy if not scummier because “lawyer” when it comes to work and they won’t want to pay either in hopes you’re also too broke to make time for small claims and your own lawyer. You need to learn to feel that vibe out. Quote something high if you feel like a job and the customer is sketchy and get payment on parts upfront. Document things incase you need to go to small claims. I went back to working for a company, lower pay, but not dealing with the bullshit is it’s own money saver.

Only thing is if you don’t know them, how will you know if they’re broke or not until you get there and see what’s going on.
But then again people with money still drive pieces of shit so they’ll have money, I guess you can get a vibe from them when you talk to them, then just tell them you’re not interested.

2:45 What you Could have done is put 5-10 in gas in it... its actually common practice for our shop to wash the customers car and vacuum it out. No its not a "jiffylube" or something its my grandfathers business, been up and running over 60 years. A little word of mouth from happy customers goes a LONG way. So does not being worried about that extra 5-10 dollars for my tallboys.. Id rather know my job was done properly and the customers car is safe.

  • @anythinganytimealways
    @anythinganytimealways 4 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

Actually, the customers with the most money are primarily the worst.

2:25 Lesson here is Take pictures and record your work. If you had the picture of the temp gauge/cluster showing its not overheating.. posting that to facebook would have proved your point. Everyone would have agreed and told the lady.. "Uhh no hun you are mistaken, IF you need to go ask one of the guys at an Actual business shop like Goodyear or whatever if you need to "trust" some random asshat... They will tell you.. That is not how this works"
Some people just need educated a little bit.

If you knew the car was unregistered and it didn't have enough gas AND they had been driving the car around like that, why did you take the job..?
Don't blame poor people for your poor decisions. We're poor, but we work on our own vehicles because of bad mechanics...and we're women, to boot.
So, no excuses for your choices. You could have walked away.

Bubba you didn't do anything wrong I've done this for a while and I got out of the business for this particular reason albeit the situation that I unfortunately ended up in was pretty ugly you are correct though do not deal with broke people even if your heart you know you want to just try and help everybody you can't it is a business and you have bills to pay and they should understand that that should just be a given and people for some reason forget that is business and you don't work for free but God bless you turning wrenches is sometimes a thankless job however I still have a passion for it LOL I just don't do the Mobile Mechanics anymore it's hard to trust people nowadays kind of damned if you do damned if you don't deal
