This dude is just rattling off knowledge at a breakneck pace without even thinking. It's just all right there, readily accessible in his brain, 0 hesitation. Very impressive.
These are the types of tours I love. These old timers not only have good setups and tools but can tell you great stories with them. Thanks for taking the extra time with this one.
This guy should be teaching High School Shop Class. So much knowledge here, I could listen to him all day. Somehow, I get the impression he could tell me a better way of using a #2 Phillips screwdriver that I never knew.
Holy smokes, what a wealth of knowledge. I really enjoy the guys that make their own tools too. Love the chop stick tip! So much for that Saturday morning yard work! 🤣
Mike is the best! Extremely knowledgeable and always willing to offer up advice. You can't help but be happy for the guy; he's earned every bit of that amazing shop!
1 hour 36 minutes and 31 seconds of pure joy. What more can I say but thank you and thank you Mike. Such a great setup and a wealth of knowledge - I love seeing people light up while telling stories of their tools. When are we getting merchandise!? I would love a t-shirt and a sticker!
This guy is an absolute wealth of knowledge. I’m a light duty diesel tech so just Dmax, Powerstroke and Cummins pickups. Every time he grabbed a tool and said this is for the duramaxes where….i was like holy shit that’s genius. I would love to get to sit down with this guy for a few hrs and drink some beer and talk shop. What a cool fella.
I could listen to this guy all day. I reckon he’s forgotten more than most people know. The way he describes things is pure petrol head. He really reminds me of my Dad . My Dad started on tanks in the REME. Love how this fella describes how he knocks up a tool to make his work easier like most ask for coffee. An amazing man . A credit to the profession. Respect to you sir Daz
These tool box tours with the Specialty tools (like the owner with the Tank!) are really great ; very passionate and committed mechanics. Another great find TBT.
WOW...!! When I first looked at this being over 1.5 hours, I didn't know if I would watch... too long? HAHA. I could listen to him for 8 hours!!! Thanks
..... when you just suddenly blurt out "wow this guy is smart" to yourself watching a video! This man is just an incredible human being, doesnt gate keep any knowledge at all and is just so quick to follow up with use case and aplications for so many specialty tools. Such a great watch and really does make me hope this knowledge finds its way to new owners becuase theirs experience their that most will never have exposure too...... BRAVO
I have watched all your videos but this is the best one I have been watching for 55 years now and I still love it and I am 68 years old now and have not retired yet
This tour was one the best by far. His collection is immense, his shop is huge and well thought out, and him explaining and sharing every piece was just bliss. I checked out his channel after watching this, he’s worth subbing to
Very respectable toolbox tour. 90% of the time when someone has a box as big as this it's clear they're just trying to blow their paycheck, or buying one of every color wrench. This guy's done a lifetime of buying 1 specific tool at a time.
this is the best video i’ve ever seen for tool knowledge wow!! he was so enthusiastic talking about his tools I have a DIY shop and have amassed quite a collection. I buy older kits and tool sets when i find good deals . Nice to hear someone with so much information about them thanks for the video
This Guy has a wealth of knowledge, obviously very keen and loves what he does. I see a lot of older guys and I use the term older very lightly 😂 who just turn up amd grab there wages at the end of the working week/month. And that's absolutely fine BUT work is so much more enjoyable when you love what you do... find a job you love and you'll never work a day in your life 👏 brilliant video 👌
Man am i screen shot quite a few of those tools to only realize you put link in the description. The way he talks about his tools is just great. I hope he has seen all the love he’s getting on this video.
Mike is a stand-up guy with an absolute wealth of knowledge. He custom made a small relay bracket for his Duramax, and after reaching out to him on TGJ, he made one for me, too.
This was a real good tool box tour. This guy has a loaded tool collection and it is cool to see father and son working together in a shop. It was cool to see all the tools custom made by him, and that work bench he built was really nice. I wish i was able to do things like that, I just never learned when I was younger.
Love these tours with these guys who have been doing things for decades. I hope these guys are passing their knowledge on somehow. Could you imagine this guy as a teacher in a high school, or as a teacher to young teenagers? He would be incredible.
For those who don’t know, many vocational schools have had to up there pay considerably in recent years. In order to draw instructors, they’ve had to get pretty close or beat current market, hourly wages for mechanics to come teach . Not a bad gig
It was a treat to film this one. I barely had to talk at all! He’s comfortable infront of a camera and incredibly smart. Made for such a great tour. Thanks for watching!
Guys like this retiring & leaving the industry are going to leave a massive hole in the future for those who want to keep the classics running. Listen and learn from those willing to teach.
I hope all of your subs get to see this one, it's no fuss or flair just all fun, real excitement and passion and experience meeting in the same place. Thanks for this one
This was amazing. Man’s a star and you made the right choice with the longer video and letting him go. Your vehicle would be in good hands with him, wouldn’t it?
Best tour yet! Amazing shop and so well organized and neat! I loved seeing so many familiar tools in his collection. Engine guy, fabricator, transmission builder, welder, machinist! My kind of guy!
I think there needs to be a part two to his garage. This guy was definitely your best video. I was amazed, just watching him talk and I kept taking snapshots of tools. I’ve never seen but want.
I'm with you on the comfort grip. I don't like them either. I am 100% a chrome handle guy!! Im sure there are instances when its better, but i prefer chrome all the way!! Also, I love those roto head ratchets!! Most people don't prefer them, but I absolutely love them!! The problem is that the majority of them have absolutely terrible back drag, but if you get a good one like the snap on, carlye, koken, (a few others too), they are the best type of ratchet to use, and the most versatile, in my opinion. They are usually my go to ratchets actually. Its like Mike said in the video, no matter what angle you flex it at, the pressure and centering is always up top, right in the middle of the head, where its supposed to be!! They are also stronger than a standard ratchet, and can yeild higher torque ratings.
The show is always beyond impressive the people you find and the amount of research finding tools and prices much appreciated.. you have had many many awesome people on this must be my favorite he knew special info on every tool where it was used over the past 30-40 years unbelievable episode great job to the lot of you
It was amazing. Glad you liked this one! I’ll have to go back and watch his own video. I refrained from watching it to make my first time seeing his setup more genuine.
This is a memorable video very knowledgeable and informative humble guy and he has a wonderful relationship with his son he also reminds me of Mike papas the tank guy one of the best home garages you ever videoed at I’m sure there is more we didn’t see thanks again.
New sub here, I’ll be honest, all these toolbox tours are so cool to watch and really bring my tool addiction out lol keep up the good work! And very nice set up to the gentleman featured
Love this video what a great shop and tool collection plus this gentleman seems like a genuine good guy thanks for another great video. Take care and have a great Memorial Day
My favorite one so far! My mentor growing up 30 years ago was a wealth of knowledge like this man! I was a sponge and I know I didn’t absorb everything. But he’s still just a call away! I wouldn’t be where I am today with out him! If you have a chance to learn for someone like this DO IT! 👍🏼👍🏼
Damn just damn sad that my generation is losing people in the industry like this thanks for the video keeping people this around for the new era as much as possible
Years ago I ran into the 3 inch pound issue and asked factory about it and they told me it is technical term for "finger tight" but since then Ive found Cummins has preset torque t-handles in the 6 and 12inlbs for injecter wire nuts.
This dude is just rattling off knowledge at a breakneck pace without even thinking. It's just all right there, readily accessible in his brain, 0 hesitation. Very impressive.
he has a TH-cam channel youtube.com/@zmotorsports62?si=CnyedSwkK6rDEiNp
This guy is amazing. I'd give money to hang out with him and work on a couple of projects. I would learn so much
It’s ridiculous. He’s a treasure trove.
Just like my dad and I. People i know get lost when I'm explaining something deep ín sçope
He knows his shit lol
This is the type of guy that will forget more than most people will ever know! Great tour thanks man.
That's deep
An amazing tool collection. But the best part of this video is a father and son who obviously enjoy working together. That's winning.
I’d forget what I’ve got lol
These are the types of tours I love. These old timers not only have good setups and tools but can tell you great stories with them. Thanks for taking the extra time with this one.
Glad you enjoyed it!
yes, I like the longer video
This guy should be teaching High School Shop Class.
So much knowledge here, I could listen to him all day. Somehow, I get the impression he could tell me a better way of using a #2 Phillips screwdriver that I never knew.
I want to be like Mike. Not only is he wise but he seems like a very good person!
Petition to release the 6 hour version.
😅
💯
Brilliant
Holy smokes, what a wealth of knowledge. I really enjoy the guys that make their own tools too. Love the chop stick tip! So much for that Saturday morning yard work! 🤣
I got the notification while I was at work and was pissed I couldn’t watch yet😂
Haha I got a kick out of the chopsticks as well. Thanks for watching!
His heavy equipment crank balancer holder was inspired!! Work less hard and do the same job in less time?? WORD
This guy is definitely tied for the best video on this channel so far, alongside the tank guy and the storage unit guy!!
Storage unit guy? What’d I miss?
2:40
"Nobody to blame but me"
Notice the head turn in the background? Truly shocking statement 😂😂
This dude would be such a good teacher if you could have 3 months working with him you'd learn so much.
I’m glad you enjoyed this one Sam! I’ve never really thought about merch 🤔. I’ll have to give it some thought. Thanks for watching!!
Didn’t even realize it was that long until your comment LoL.
Still has so much enthusiasm for all his kit and the job in general. Pleased he has had the success he clearly deserves.
What was exciting the most, was watching how excited Mike was to show-and-tell his tools. So Much knowledge. So Fun..
he was having way more fun than we are!
I shed a tear watching this what an amazing tech and father. That entire set up tells a story.
Respect to you sir
Daz
Boy, I'd love to spend a day with Mike tuning my old Chevy's. I can't imagine how many tricks he has to making things run well. Fantastic tour!
This is probably my favorite box tour you’ve done, nice one 😊
Ill never forget this shop, it was on Garage Journal years ago. Its dialed in like PB&J
These tool box tours with the Specialty tools (like the owner with the Tank!) are really great ; very passionate and committed mechanics. Another great find TBT.
Glad you liked it!
Wow this guy flat out knows his stuff make no mistake about it. One of the best tours you’ve had .
WOW...!! When I first looked at this being over 1.5 hours, I didn't know if I would watch... too long? HAHA. I could listen to him for 8 hours!!! Thanks
Wow, just a master mechanic!
..... when you just suddenly blurt out "wow this guy is smart" to yourself watching a video! Such a great watch and really does make me hope this knowledge finds its way to new owners becuase theirs experience their that most will never have exposure too...... BRAVO
I watched his own tour a while ago. What an awesome setup!!!
This Guy from Zmotors is a Genius, I love his tool tours.
Definitely a genius!
Make sure to share his Channel link
This is a master technician, 100 percent. Hope I have half his knowledge by the end of my career.
Saw this guy do his own toolbox tour on his channel! Real knowledgable family!
He’s a genius!
Best tool box tour of all time. What a wealth of talent and knowledge
I have watched all your videos but this is the best one I have been watching for 55 years now and I still love it and I am 68 years old now and have not retired yet
Wow you’ve been watching for 55 years? That’s amazing considering the channel owner is in his early 40s I’d say
- some smart ass kid from Florida
I meant to say wrenching
This tour was one the best by far. His collection is immense, his shop is huge and well thought out, and him explaining and sharing every piece was just bliss. I checked out his channel after watching this, he’s worth subbing to
Tons of knowledge. Yeah his channel is awesome!
This guy reminds me of my high school auto teacher a lot. Old school knowledge they dont teàch kids ànymore.
Very respectable toolbox tour. 90% of the time when someone has a box as big as this it's clear they're just trying to blow their paycheck, or buying one of every color wrench. This guy's done a lifetime of buying 1 specific tool at a time.
Not only that, but I enjoyed seeing the tools he modified and made
Awesome!! The number of tools he has is crazy. With a lathe and mill, you can build anything you want. Dream garage!
this is the best video i’ve ever seen for tool knowledge
wow!! he was so enthusiastic talking about his tools
I have a DIY shop and have amassed quite a collection. I buy older kits and tool sets when i find good deals . Nice to hear someone with so much information about them
thanks for the video
This was my favorite episode!! I’ll have to rewatch it.. love this

Oh my goodness I am officially humbled & impressed ! By far the best tour yet. Even better than the Free Air Silencer guy!
Mike is a stand-up guy with an absolute wealth of knowledge.
He custom made a small relay bracket for his Duramax, and after reaching out to him on TGJ, he made one for me, too.
Very cool. That community at The Garage Journal seems really awesome.
This was a real good tool box tour. This guy has a loaded tool collection and it is cool to see father and son working together in a shop. It was cool to see all the tools custom made by him, and that work bench he built was really nice. I wish i was able to do things like that, I just never learned when I was younger.
You can always learn now 🙂
@@ToolBoxTour Yea I know it is never too late but I highly doubt I will ever have the time or money to learn. It's okay.
Mike’s setup is so sweet! Hope to eventually have half that set up in my lifetime.
How many SnapOn salesmen DMed you so far?
An amazing gentleman. With a wealth of knowledge. A young person starting out would learn so much working with a man like this.
Well said!
Wow sir Mike what a guy. I could listen to him and his vast amount of knowledge and experience all day long. God bless you.
I agree!
He actually tutors some of the more green guys he works with. He’s happy to share his knowledge.
MIKE IS THE MAN! awesome tour, i hope to have a quarter of this mans knowledge when all said and done.
Same here!
can’t beat a guy like this man, great video man. the guys got more knowledge than anyone i know .
I love this guys videos! I been watching them since I first got onto youtube and buying tools.
Man, that shop is perfect! Mike kind of reminds me of the other Mike with the tank. Wealth of knowledge!
Man I could just sit and listen to him all day. Reminds me of my grandfather. So much knowledge. Love your setup man!
Yeah you got that right. 20 green techs couldn’t come close to making up for the experience he has.
Your totally right as a tech now i am seeing its hard to find these guys still around i am starting to be the oldest in the shop at 36😢
Only other person I've heard of using those multi position ratchets like that other than myself. Works great as a speed ratchet aswell
This man has the mind of a surgeon. Just brilliant. Probably top 1% intelligence percentile.Recall. Engineering/creativity. Problem solving. Just wow.
Thank you, but I think you're giving me too much credit. I'm just a mechanic who's been at it for quite some time.
Mike
I hope all of your subs get to see this one, it's no fuss or flair just all fun, real excitement and passion and experience meeting in the same place. Thanks for this one
I hope so too! Thanks for watching!
What a knowledgeable guy. Holy crap this was awesome
Glad you like it Jack! Mike is a genius!
This was amazing.
Man’s a star and you made the right choice with the longer video and letting him go. Your vehicle would be in good hands with him, wouldn’t it?
They don't make em like this guy anymore! So much knowledge!! Amazing tool collection.
Couldn't agree more!
Incredibly knowledgeable and the man has spent some money on tooling. And, everything looks well cared for. Amazing.
Couldn't agree more!
Best tour yet! Amazing shop and so well organized and neat! I loved seeing so many familiar tools in his collection. Engine guy, fabricator, transmission builder, welder, machinist! My kind of guy!
It was definitely a clean space! And mikes a genius!
Now that's a home shop!!!
I think there needs to be a part two to his garage. This guy was definitely your best video. I was amazed, just watching him talk and I kept taking snapshots of tools. I’ve never seen but want.
I could have talked to him for another 10hours with everything he had in there!
The hours I can listen to this man just talk is endless
Glad you finally did a shop tour of Z Motorsports.🇺🇸
It was a fun tour!
That gentleman has a wealth of knowledge and experience. So amazing.
Thanks for watching John!
leaving the batteries out is such a great tip! so many old tools busted from battery corrosion
I'm with you on the comfort grip. I don't like them either. I am 100% a chrome handle guy!! Im sure there are instances when its better, but i prefer chrome all the way!! Wow, thank you!
This one is the gold standard. Outstanding!
It heavily reminded me of your setup Mike! I bet you two could talk for hours if you ever bumped in to each other. Thanks for watching!!
Preserve this content as a National Treasure. A master class in Tool evolution. Amazing.
I agree!
Remember seeing Mike do a shop tour a while back, super glad you got to visit and show more of his unbelievable setup. Keep up the great work man
It was amazing. Glad you liked this one! I’ll have to go back and watch his own video. I refrained from watching it to make my first time seeing his setup more genuine.
It’s not about money, it’s about passion. dude like this just loves what he does and it’s not work at that point…
This is a memorable video very knowledgeable and informative humble guy and he has a wonderful relationship with his son he also reminds me of Mike papas the tank guy one of the best home garages you ever videoed at I’m sure there is more we didn’t see thanks again.
Fantastic video. What a cool guy. Anybody recognize that paper towel holder? Looks like exactly what I need…
That’s passion!! Getting excited to get off work to run home and work I. Your own shop. Respect!!
New sub here, I’ll be honest, all these toolbox tours are so cool to watch and really bring my tool addiction out lol keep up the good work! And very nice set up to the gentleman featured
I hope you stick around!
Very humble dude. Thank you Sir. Great tool review.

His setup was amazing! Thanks for watching Jarrod!
Not many people get the opportunity to learn from someone as sharp as Mike. It’s gold if you can find it.
He has an excellent shop. Keep up the good work to all of you
As a hot rodder myself, this has been my most reliable and favorite episode! Awesome setup
I’m glad you liked this one!!
Soooo awesome to see Mike’s box on this channel. 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼
This Is THE Best Video Out There Thank You SIR Love It
Great video as always. This guy has been there and done that. 👍
Legend!
I could listen to this guy and his knowledge and experience for hours! Great episode as usual!
Glad you enjoyed it!
This man knows his shit. Very impressive
God...I wish I had a fraction of this guy's knowledge! He is incredible!
Right?!
Awesome shop Mike! Well done. Thanks for the tour.
How is this channel not at a million subs ?
Best tour yet!!
I would love to see a full shop tour of this gentleman’s collection!
Thank you. I have a full shop tour over on my channel.
@@zmotorsports62
Enjoyed seeing all the old school stuff! I will definitely check out the shop tour on your channel.
