This! I am so thankful that this conversation is being had (and I randomly found this video). I have tried most of my life to navigate the tension this message articulately describes. I can't deny the power of God and the miraculous moments I've had in the Lord, even as a kid. So much formation happened within those supernatural and profound inner-working encounters/moments with God. I also can't deny the slow, dying-to-self work of the Spirit that's spanned many years of my life and shaped through the living Word.
I've hated feeling like I have to pick between these two realities when I seek community in the Church. I wish all would respect this tension, and I sincerely wish so much of the Church wouldn't run from it and certainly that we wouldn't divide over it.
I've felt like a fish out of water in many church environments because I have felt so alone in this struggle. This message encourages my faith so much. I love Jesus. I love Holy Spirit. And they (Father, Son, and Spirit) have never NOT lived in a perfect, loving relationship. It's us that needs help understanding this as broken vessels living in a fractured world. Thank you, Tyler Staton, for your leadership!

What do yall think of apprentice vs disciple? I’m ignorant of if whether it’s a ‘hey apprenticeship is a better translation’ matter, or if there are different words in being referenced? I’ve heard them used interchangeably but is that what he’s doing here? Just sort of like ‘hey I’m not into cristianese.’

Why do you say, "come Holy Spirit?" Isnt He there all the time? Do you mean, "make Yourself felt, HolySpirit" Sometimes the Holy Spirit has made Himself felt, but we dont register it. Recently, it was only on the 2nd occasion that I had the experience that I realized it was a gift from God. It was soooo fleeting, but once I recognized it as from Him, it changed my whole outlook. So I ask again, why ask Him to come? Isnt He there already?! And are you sure you re not experiencing Him already without registering it, because.... Perhaps your expectations mask it? Just some questions. Dont mean to offend.

I agree! We believe on the things unseen. God promises the Holy Spirit as a SEAL for our salvation and to NEVER leave us or forsake us… therefore we have the Holy Spirit from the moment we are baptized with Him. We don’t base our faith on our emotions or feelings, but on the truth of GOD!

Not sure this guy causes more confusion than clarity. How do you know that? At the end he says “discuss”.
If your church is “training” you to preach then you do not have the Holy Spiritual gift of teaching, that’s number one. If you are likewise “training” for prophetic gifts then once again you do not have the gift.
He leans towards that “it’s ok” to be not perfect with the administration of the gifts and we should not add so much pressure. These are simply humanistic mindsets.
    How do I know?
“His Word will not return to Him void” as it says in the Bible. So the question is are you in relationship with The LORD or in “training”?
My yolk is easy and my burden is light - Jesus.
It’s not a walk in the park but you are equipped by the Holy Spirit as He Wills and not by all that this man has said to sound intelligent.
Some good points though, however, I hope he can focus on the fact that it is truely in The Holy Spirits control and perfect Will.

He says discus bc it is a pastors conference.
There is only one judge and that is Jesus . We are asked to have discernment as well. When Jesus was asked if the disciples should stop some people talking about the gospel who were not “from them” Jesus said don’t, whoever is not against us, is for us .
Tyler has brought lot more people to Christ as pastor and prayer director than maybe the two of us sitting behind a keyboard(maybe only me )
Just saying don’t let the ease of judgment slip us into pride of “enlightenment “ and then have James 4:6 reign true

@@ToGodistheglory Well said my friend, it takes more to get out there and 'do something' than it is to sit behind a keyboard and decree judgements. (am not saying that is what @salvationagent does - it odds are its more likely the case)
I am on board with what Tyler is talking about here
      Grace and peace to y'all

You don’t know God. If you knew Him then you wouldn’t be engaged in a vain intellectual exercise of examining the Holy Spirit, but instead would be calling all men to repentance and faith in Jesus. The barrier to the Spirit is sin. You need to repent. Peace to the saints and all glory to Jesus.

This kind of mysticism is exactly why so many people are deconstructing from their faith once they realized they’ve been bamboozled… I had this quack pinned at “rediscovery” n the first 2-3 sentences.
