- Ingredients
For the filling
1/2 cup peeled split mung beans (100g)washed and soaked in water 1 hour
4 tbsp sugar
1 tbsp vegetable oil
1/4 cup shredded coconut optional
For the dough
2 cups glutinous rice flour 250g
2 tbsp white rice flour
1/4 cup mashed potato (or 2 tbsp potato flakes + 4 tbsp hot water)
4 tbsp sugar
1/2 tsp salt
200 ml luke warm water (1/2+1/3cup) **
1/2 cup sesame seeds
vegetable oil to deep fry
**The water amount is estimated only- Pls add slowly and adjust to your flour quality
Tips for deep-frying: When the oil reaches the right temperature (small bubbles appear around the chopstick), please lower the heat and fry on medium. Frying on high heat might cause the balls to crack/explode.

Ahhh... This reminds me of the Asian Bakery I used to visit. They had variations of this with red bean paste, and another one with chopped peanuts and coconut shavings inside. Sooo tasty.

Good morning, thank you so much once again for another successful naturally gluten free recipe. I made them last night, left them overnight in the fridge and fried them fresh this morning. They were so delicious, my kids enjoyed them for breakfast and took some for lunch at school.
I made the filling with mashed "potatoes"-white yam and cassava. Delish!

Thank you Helen you are very informative everyone else I just don't understand but you explain it so well I understand what you are saying and what you need for the balls thank you very well explained thank you again
I love sesame balls. It's funny cos I was never a big fun of them when I was back home in China. I guess I just like the combination of mung bean and coconut a lot better than red bean paste which is used in Chinese seasame balls. I don't have to buy them from my local Asian grocery anymore since you have a video recipe for them. Thanks for the recipe Helen.
so good
yummy!
Yummy :), thks Helen.
your channel has changed my life! :)
em cám ơn những chia sẻ của chị nhiều lắm lắm :xxx
I really love this kind of banh cam. It is different from the one in Viet Nam, because in VN we have the sugar cover the cake.

will try this soon.. thank you for the recipe, Helen!
I just found your channel 4 hours ago and I am still watching now. Absolutely I can not stop watching your videos. I gained both with your channel!!!

Thank you Helen, I was looking for this recipe. In Indonesia we call this "Onde". I never thought will make this myself while in Indonesia. Very cheap and everywhere, its street food. In America..sometimes I crave something and will make myself.

Hi helen, really enjoy your Vietnamese authentic recipes. I've been following your videos and wish you well....keep doing what you doing...thanks
'Occasionally rotate the balls'
That's just good advice in general.
We also have this snack in Indonesia we call it "ondé-ondé", maybe because we're in Asia so there's many resemble food, adding coconut for the filling is good idea, will give that a try, im so exited :D
