    I remember doing a few of the 75s back nearly 20 years ago and always the air went blue,,,,,why any auto engineer would have designed a separate master for the clutch the size of an egg cup hidden under the dash always bemused me,,,,, I remember having to use a syringe with a hose to top it up,,plus the box a Getrag I think used MTF 94 a joy to source from a BMW garage after having sold Rover for a symbolic pound under Mr Blair who refused to fund Rover,,,,,pity as overall it was a very good car but I think the smaller petrol blew the head gasket a bit Diesels were best,,,,as ever this young man makes it look easy,,,must spend some time in the gym I reckon to be able to toss in box that quick,,, a real pleasure to watch a professional at work and thanks for sharing your obvious love of working on mans best friend,,,

    • @WMCS
      @WMCS  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I like the history you come with .,,
      Yes the K series engine had a bit of a bad name because unaware to a lot of garages the water pump had to be replaced every other service.
      But the diesel version of the later rover used a BMW diesel in a Honda Accord chassis .,, the diesel is a good version of the engine it got used in all the land rover freelander that’s still on the road today. A few on the channel.
      I’ve never once managed to bleed them clutches the conventional way. Always had to reverse bleed it .,, but the master reservoir is a bit beyond me why it’s located behind the pedal .,, I knew quite a number of folks that lost their jobs up in long ridge as I used to live there when they were shutting down. It was sad to see it happen as it’s a small community up there .,, ✨🍻🍻🍻

      1.Is it going into gears and out with the engine switched off.
      2. Does it perform ok in all the other gears.
      3. Is the gear linkage attachments clear of anything that may have got in the way.

    However the gearbox should be supported as it's withdrawn.
    Don't let it hang on the input shaft, otherwise the input shaft nose seal tube can split. ( they are very thin walled)
    You'll only find out once reassembled and run.

    The wheel nuts should always be re-checked once the wheels are back on the ground using a socket on a bar preferably a torque wrench you cannot rely always on an impact gun because you can never be sure its truly fully tightened on a battery powered gun or the charge the gun is tightening at Rob

    How come no alignment tool this time?

    • @WMCS
      @WMCS  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi Rush. I was trying to point out the sleeve on the back of the clutch plate slots directly into the centre part of the flywheel. Eliminating the need to align the clutch.

    Hi could I mention that some specially designed nut/bolt extractors would be most useful in your tool kit, such as these, www.machinemart.co.uk/p/blue-spot-13-piece-impact-bolt-and-nut-remover/ ...I've used these in the past and had great success with them, in fact i've never had a bolt that refused to come out with them, i've even used them on domed torx bolt heads where the middle has ripped out...

    i'm not that surprised for a rover, but locating the clutch master cylinder filler behind the clutch pedal...well that's a 0 out of 10....

      I never understood why they came up with that concept.,, and because it is lower than the CSC in the gearbox you can only reverse bleed it with a syringe.
