      racing driver . I love the motor sport and the formula that Mr Grumpy with race number 152 races in ,is my favourite formula.
      I sometimes travel all over the UK to follow that formula. I'm of course wondering if you are the same driver??. If so you'll have saw me photographing around the repair raceway pits alot ,on my own, with my big rucsac. You'll have saw me at many stock car raceways around the uk
      Thanks just curious,. I like your racing if it is you. You'll know the stock car race formula I like

    - which size is the tool at 1:35 to let the oil out of the gearbox?
    - 2:58 which size to remove the drive shaft (gear box side), is it 10 or 12mm?
    - 4:28 which size to remove the big screw of the drive shaft? 36mm?
    - 6:20 which tool to remove this part?
    - 43:15 which size to refill the oil? and how much oil should be put in? until it flows out?

    • @WMCS

      @WMCS the majority have said DMF but others offered SMF as well as conversion kits, so biggest ask was if the conversion is reversible if a smf is fitted, as I'd rather a dmf over a smf

    Why drain the oil from the gearbox?

      Nils.., one of the reason is I always replace the oil upon completion of the repair..,, but in no order of relevance if I don’t drain the oil it would spill out the drive shaft port as once the flange comes out it’s an open access for the oil to flow out.

    Hello Kevin, I love to see your video's. It looks so easy. What kind of liquid do you use to clean the flywheel and house? Sometimes you lower the engine for a better acces (like the Mazda 3 - 1.4). Can you do that with leaving the exhaust on it? Thank you!

    • @WMCS
      @WMCS  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Theo thanks for the review..,, it’s brake cleaner but any solvent works just as good. I have yet to remove exhaust to access any bolts. Sometimes it’s very close so simple technique is to undo fully as the gearbox is coming out.

    Hey Kevin love the work you do, seeing that you mobile, what do you do in the event that a solid flywheel needs to be skimmed

    • @WMCS
      @WMCS  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hiya.., excellent question 😃..
      A solid flywheel should not be skimmed as any drop in thickness will result in clutch slip as the tolerance from the pressure plate is down to thousand of a mm..,
      If you look at the clutch plate it has spring built in for the purpose of any slight distortion in the flywheel then the spring in the clutch absorbs that and you don’t feel anything during driving ..,
      The only time I will replace a solid flywheel is if there is a crack on the face of it. ....

    • @sngreasemonkeys1755
      @sngreasemonkeys1755 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Won't those high spots (blue marks) on the flywheel caused clutch shudder?

    • @WMCS
      @WMCS  4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      SN Grease Monkeys happy to answer based on my personal knowledge and experience only ..,
      The heat mark that you see are friction marks. There is no raised spots.., it won’t be possible for the surface to raise. These flywheel are hardened steel against fibre and other crushed mineral which the clutch plate is made of.,, as an analogy :
      “A cloth polishing a table ...”
      Even the mounting of the friction material on the clutch plate are designed to wear and tear on the pressure plate side ...
      One misconception is a comparison with brake pads against disc ..,

    • @sngreasemonkeys1755
      @sngreasemonkeys1755 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I see thanks for the info, I always thought skimming flywheel is a good thing but never thought about that the thickness of the flywheel will affect the clutch, thanks a lot bro really appreciate it

    Hi Kevin! I hope that you are doing well, that your business is flourishing and that you are still doing your most instructive videos.
    1. If so, can you show in you next video, where these lifting points are (question of Mr Charles Dale, below)? For me who is not a pro, "axle stand" and "subframe" are not immediately evident.
    2. When you remount the gear box, the first thing you seem to do with your right hand, is to reach for a bolt on the driver's side of the motor, and tighten that to hold the gear box in place. Is that correct?

    • @WMCS
      @WMCS  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      2. Yes that’s correct. I always leave the top back bolts in place for that purpose.
      1. Jacking point are usually indicated normally by an arrow on the sill each car is different. And axle stand point are usually an overlapping part on the sill easily identified…
