Restore deleted audio in Adobe Premiere Pro

This tutorial shows you how to use Match Frame to find a deleted audio clip and drop it in the Timeline, perfectly in sync. It also covers best practices for saved versions so you never have to worry about this.

I am not now on my notebook to test it, but as I remember there is right menu item called Expand or something like this and insert linked the audio of the video to the audio track.

Thought I should mention it for anyone out there, in case you looked at the audio file button and it's greyed out, try clicking on the video inside the timeline and hit "F" on the keyboard (not a joke). Not sure what it does but it makes the audio file button turn on and then you can drag it into the timeline.

simple, when you double click a video instance on the timeline to open it up in the source monitor, you're not really given the absolute source (master clip), you're directly editing and viewing the LAYER source and not the media, when you use match frame, premiere pro switches the source from layer to master clip giving you access to the actual MEDIA source, so if the layer has no audio or no video respectively, double clicking will only have one of them available

Hey Colin, great tip. I'm like you with the duplication of the timeline/sequences. Easier than looking for autosaved prev. version.
Question for you: What is your method of cleaning up your pc/mac, project folder, cache, drives with footage etc after you're done a project? I currently don't have a procedure and have noticed resources slowly dwindling away because I just move on to the next project without any cleanup. Please, share if you have a regimented cleanup procedure for when you're all done with a project. Maybe you already have a video on it that I have missed. Thanks and keep making movies!

- Right click the clip in timeline
- Select "Reveal in Project"
- Double Click Footage on the media bin
- Click the clip in the timeline and press F

I have a question you may know how to help with. I used my Samsung note 8 to record audio on my phone and I would bring the audio file into premiere pro and it would be my audio for my videos. Then one day the file type wasn't compatible with premiere ? Any ideas on how to allow this audio files to be used?
