I really admire this finished product. I have the same color on my 97 DX and have the same delamination issue. Clear coat gone. My motor runs great but I (Had to) neglected it for a couple years and now paying the price. Then someone pulled out from the curb to do a you turn, RIGHT IN FRONT OF ME! I steered to the left, slammed on the brakes and while she continued doing her slow BS turn, I slid right into her front left fender. So I ended up with a crunched right front fender and lost the front right headlight and sidemarker light. So eventually I may make the trip to the junk yard for a fender and whole bumper cover. My bumper cover has a third of it missing now. You mentioned Anaheim, so if you ever see a red 97 DX, with a messed up front end, give me a honk and a hand wave. The friendly kind. LOL Just got it finally smogged and registered after 2 years. Got raped at the DMV. Price of being broke for a while. New O2 censor, EGR Actuator, cleaned an EGR tube, new air intake hose, new gas cap and it passed like a champ! Got "3" gas tank leaks (all on the underside) repaired, 2 new tie rods, new front right strut, 2 new Summit tires, alignment, 4 new aftermarket wheel covers (decent ones), and new rear brakes. Still needs a new power steering pump (drove with no fluid-long story) so pump is making LOUD noises, needs a power steering hose (minor leak), Air conditioning recharge (might need more...) new front right headlight, 2 new front sidemarker lights, and a left rear taillight cover. Needs gage cluster bulb replacements (completely dark now-LOL) and a new headliner. It finally rotted away last year. Maybe I'll have it painted at some point, not sure. I'd like to do something simple on the stereo like you did. Wish I had your mechanical skill and know how.
i just got a 94 corolla from canada for 500$ and it runs great. 3 speed 1.6 base model but it has factory cruise that still works. i’ve never seen one like it here
Time to get a 98 Corolla with the cool trunk lid with the COROLLA emblazoned right in the center like a Bob Ross painting. The trunk lid sits snugly in it's happy little home to be opened and closed at your convenience! It Just sits there and waits for an opportunity to load some groceries or car parts!
I’ve been looking for a 5 speed 1993 to 1998 Corolla wagon and they don’t often come up for sale. I see in person 1-2 a year. I live near Saint Paul Minnesota.
I currently own a 1993 Toyota Corolla base 1.6l and would like to let others know that these cars are known for burning oil so your best bet is thicker oil I personally use mobile1 10w30 full synthetic high milage and it does just perfectly and the oil lasts much longer if you really get on it
These engines are know for burning oil because people use convential oil and NOT changing the oil every 5,000 miles. When the oil gets real oil it starts to seize up the oil control rings on the pistons - hence it starts to burn oil. If you use synthetic and change the oil on time, these engines will NEVER burn oil.
I've also heard that if a person does start using synthetic it's best not to switch back. By the way, on my 95 Buick LeSabre V-6 3800, I use a synthetic mix. Didn't go all out. Seems to be working out........
Toyota Corolla parts are very cheap for that vehicle when you sell one Corolla somebody’s always asking for another Corolla Japanese cars live up to their name and they don’t cost much money insurance registration tags that’s awesome
i had the same problem with centre console rarity with my 98 mazda 121 metro / demio, in fact i didn't know it even existed, i only found out about it because someone in an enthusiast group on facebook mentioned it, it appears that they were only available in Japan (at least i've only ever found 2 of them and both were sold on Japanese sites) and I managed to get one through the same JDM importer that the person i found out about it got theirs from, it's on the way now thankfully.
Where did you get the dashboard cover? I want one for my 95 Corolla DX. I think my corolla is super rare because it has a sun roof that's original, I never seen any corolla with that.
Got it from a company called Dashmat on eBay, it was like $50 or so, well worth it. And this gen of Corolla did come factory with a sunroof but they're incredibly rare, there was a special trim package that was often paired with leather seats but you hardly see them. Surprisingly the more common "Corolla" of this era with a factory sunroof is the Geo Prizm LSi
@@jimmyjimjims7483 I didn't know that they came with sunroof's at all! But at school a few months back I was able to park next to one. I have a 1993 base model automatic. The car next to me looked like the same year, same color but it's body was completely straight. My car's front end has been through a lot and been in the family since the late 90's. The parked car next to me also had a manual transmission, power windows, the owner even had a steering wheel lock on even though I thought it was silly. What a package!
Great work mate, three odd thousand dollars is still a good price for a car in that condition. Looking forward the mystery given the amount of hype must be an AE86 XD
Some guys say synthetic make old cars leak… my 86 ford has been running it for 20,000 miles I’ve had it and the rear main has gone from slowly dripping to still just slowly dripping so I’m not convinced. If your seals are that cooked it’s time to fix it anyway 😂
@@TCreatorO I do have an oil leak but the motor's got 200k and due for a timing chain. My mechanic says it's leaking from there. I think the leak is due to age not synthetic oil.
@stevetrump7399 mines has around 130k, when I bought it it was very neglected, in the sense of replacing parts, but at least the previous owner changed his oil on time and never ran the car without oil, but it was leaking from almost everywhere, I had to replace the valve cover gasket, o rings and bolt seals, pcv valve, cam & crank seals, both axles, and the high pressure power steering hose, and reservoir cap, now it has no leaks, but I want to change the distribuitor seal too, just as a preventative measure
@@adamxenon829 if your seals get fucked you burn oil my father owned one of these corollas when I was still in high school back in the 90s run conventional in these things last thing you want is to blow out seals and burn up all the oil he ran synthetic and it killed his motor
great video, why not synthetic blend tho, I just tried synthetic blend high mileage and noticed it leaking a bit more, do you recommend me to go back to conventional or it doesn’t matter at this point?
Just go back to conventional and the leak will slowly get smaller. The idea is that the synth or synth blend gets through the tiny little gaps of the seal quicker than regular old oil so it will make an existing leak bigger with heat cycles. Some people will call my theory voodoo but I've personally seen it happen so this is just my 2 cents
In some cases (not all) I've seen that these particular cars will begin to leak oil heavily if you use strictly synthetic oil. However that only applies if you change from full conventional to full synthetic overnight on an already kinda leaky engine, it basically makes the already existing leak much larger. If you're already using it there's no big deal
@@jimmyjimjims7483 ahh thanks Jim. Car does have a bad oil leak. Haven't had the car very long and idk what the previous owner was using but I'll definitely keep this in mind and ask my mechanic about it when I get some deeper work done.

There is a belief (not a 100% fact) but it is believed among mechanics that I’ve worked with that if your car was using conventional oil to begin with and you used conventional non synthetic oil it’s whole life (years and years) and you abruptly change to full synthetic it can cause the seals to react by shrinking and this will cause fairly large oil leaks. Me personally I have actually seen this happen on older cars before so I’m of the belief that this is true but some people claim it’s fairytale nonsense and I get blasted for stating this. So I leave it up to the viewer based on their experiences to see if it’s true or not
@@adamxenon829 I did do my research, I did it when went through all 58 certifications to get the ASE I use every day for work (which I've been doing for nearly 12 years). I've repaired THOUSANDS of cars from the 1970's all the way to 2023 late model cars and there is a noticeable difference to the way they react to fully synthetic MODERN OIL. Modern synthetic is perfectly fine for modern engines designed to use thin oils like 0w-20 or even 0w-16 but older vehicles designed to use the older heavier oils (like 10w-30, 5w-30, etc) especially vehicles with high mileage (and worn seals) can have adverse reactions to full synthetic (same as putting modern ethanol fuel into a vintage vehicle that uses leaded gasoline). You can cry all you want to daddy Valvoline and his detergent filled water thin oil but I've checked your channel and all I see are playlists...no repairs, no advice on what to fix and where, no evidence of your claims, nothing. I'm glad someone asked this question. My mechanic switched to Synthetic oil for my 2005 Camry 2.4L and it is now burning so much oil that it ruined the catalytic converter at 152K miles. He says that if he installs a new cat it will go bad instantly and do the same thing again.
