    My friend dad had the 1995 Le version. Power windows and leather seat in beige. He lived nearby so he would park on the street in Astoria. He always maintained it and polished it etc, but in 2009 someone stole it. I always remember it because it always looked liked it came out the parking lot. But doing the math, that was a long time ago sheesh. It feels like yesterday😂 I think I was a junior in high school

      Those Corollas with the leather package are quite rare, usually they also have the sun roof option if they have the leather. Too bad about it being permanently borrowed lol, not surprising hearing the word "Astoria" though. Happens a lot there

    Hey Jimmy jim. I’m a big fan of your channel. I’m from Canada we don’t get to see many pristine 90’s Toyota without the body starting to rust. Wondering if you can do a full resto of this car? Like using fabric paint for the headliner? You could get a can or two for $15-20 USD. I did my headliner in my ‘99 Camry and it looked really good. Please let me know if you will consider doing that. Thanks in advance

      There are a few more things that will be done to this car in the upcoming weeks/months. It will be getting a headliner soon and I'm exploring options for having it painted but that's going to take while because it needs to be done right but still within a reasonable amount of money. Another video will be coming out in a week or so showing what else I've done to it and what it will be getting coming up, thanks for watching!

    Don't throw parts at a car no matter what. You're just throwing money away. That fuel pump was working fine. You can change just the sock. One thing I've learned from my 14 plus years wrenching on cars is never throw parts at it. Always properly diagnose it so you're not just throwing your money away. You did say you were doing this on a crazy budget but you've already spent a shit ton of money on it and you still haven't solved the stumble. Also, check for codes because even if the engine light isn't on, that doesn't mean there's no stored codes. I've seen it tons of times. No light on, but yet there's codes.

    • @jimmyjimjims7483
      @jimmyjimjims7483  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Actually I fixed the stumble in the next video but for the sake of transparency it was the ignition coil inside the distributor, it was going bad but only at higher RPMs. I changed all those parts because either way it needed them, every car I buy I do a full tune-up (if its for me to keep). The "budget" for this car was $1000 so as long as I spent under that I was okay with throwing some parts at it. I really could have sworn it was a fuel delivery issue but nope, it was that ignition coil

      @jimmyjimjims7483  ปีที่แล้ว

      The 93 is my favorite year, no passenger airbag, hidden AC crotch vent below the steering column, and best of all it was the fastest year with 115 HP as compared to the 105 HP for 95 and newer due to a less restricted intake manifold. Those are the most reliable year, mine made it to 300k miles

    Hey bro this thing is sadly damaged very badly. I got lucky here in Australia and bought one off and old man that had 93,000kms which is like 50-60,000 miles or some shit. Anyway mine is a hatchback and basically been garage kept its whole life. Got to say one of the best little cars I have ever driven as a daily ever and it still has the original shocks and suspension! Not even leaking. Yeah should restore this car at least to its former glory in some way or form it would be worth it

    Id prefeer a manual transmission, but can you please let me know what to look on a automatic one?

    Any input or advise on auto tranny will be appreciated!

    • @jimmyjimjims7483
      @jimmyjimjims7483  ปีที่แล้ว

      My advice on Automatic corollas is always always always buy the 1.8L 4 speed automatic ones. They made base models with 1.6L 3 speed automatics and those blew up frequently due to their built-in "differential" inside the trans going bad because they rev super high on the freeway (same as geo metros). These autos are built crazy tough and very rarely have issues even at 300k+ miles, you can tell the 3 speed apart from the 4 speed because the 4 has an overdrive button on the shifter and the 3 doesn't. Only trans repair I've ever done to one of these was shift solenoids at 375k miles on my 93 DX

    • @jimmyjimjims7483
      @jimmyjimjims7483  5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      The local mega u pull here only gives you between $290 and $350 for most cars, they will pay up to $500 but that’s for trucks or large suvs. If you look around here you can get some really good deals as some people don’t want to deal with the hassle and just want someone to come get it and be done with it, Craigslist is great for that

  • @danielllanes6894
    @danielllanes6894 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    hey I have a 2000 corolla 1.8 with a three speed, is it normal for that thing to rev at 3000 going 60 ?

    • @jimmyjimjims7483
      @jimmyjimjims7483  ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Yes that is normal for the 3 speed (which is exactly why I only buy the 4 speeds). The 3 speed is very similar to the automatic found in geo metros, the 3 speed contains and internal differential while the 4 speed has an overdrive gear allowing for 2k rpms at 60 mph. That means yours is a VE because the VE was the only model equipped with a 3spd until 2001

    My friend died I inherited his 1995 Corolla.It has a 150,000 miles it needs motor mounts and belt squeals. Hopefully it’s a serpentine and not the timing belt. I drive a good distance to work every day. Not sure if I’m gonna keep it or get rid of it.

    • @jimmyjimjims7483
      @jimmyjimjims7483  ปีที่แล้ว +3

      I would keep it and fix it up (especially since it was technically free). You'd only have to put a few hundred bucks at most into it to have a great running ridiculously reliable car. Keep in mind these corollas are non-interference engines so if the timing belt does snap nothing bad happens to the engine, just put a new one on and keep going. 99% of the time the squeal is from the power steering belt. And if you do sell it (and happen to live in Texas) you know who to sell it to lol. Good luck with it, these are great cars

    but yeah corollas are the cars i'd appreciate the most out of anything else, i dont care how many lambos or audis are out there , at the end of the day a car is a means of transportation and this car is the incarnation of it!
    sadly they were not imported in large quantities in my nation due to sanctions so that corolla would go for like 2k usd possibly more over here in my corner of the world
    😆
