I spent this past Saturday & Sunday changing the water pump on my imaginary wife's tractor. A simple project that grew and grew the more I worked on it! I've always wondered who the genius was that figured out to put a weep hole in a water pump so that you knew your seal failed? Such a great idea!!!!
Hey Arco and Heidi , thanks for the video . Don't know much about those new style motors ,guess I need to get with the program . That car show in Dryden I mentioned isn't going to happen latest word I heard . Guess one day I'll see that little purple roadster for real ! Fourth of July isn't far away , Canada's birthday is July 1st ... this year is going so fast brother !
Cool video. Wasn't aware they would sell you internal parts for that water pump. Could've saved some cash down through the years. I know this post is pretty old, but what's the name of the device you used for compressing the hose clamp. If anybody knows I would appreciate it. My buddy's Chevy 2500 just had the pump start blowing water out really bad. He's already bought the pump. Maybe next time. Thsnks again for a great video with a few tricks I didn't know. God bless.
Its called a flexible hose clamp tool. They have a couple really nice kits on Amazon that have a bunch of different styles in one kit. Hope that helps I really appreciate you watching my video and the nice comments take care brother
I'm going to do this this weekend I'm watching your video to get some advice. But I'm curious that all that plastic do I have to put that one plastic piece that goes over the white fan the first piece you took off in the video. I feel like that creates air restriction.
Most of the time the fins inside the waterpump rot off or crack and fall off. That would be the first thing I would check or change 👍 and since you’re doing the water pump and new antifreeze I would also change the thermostat just to be safe. Also flush your system and make sure that your heater core is flushed out very well. Hope that helps.
Yes I definitely would change both. I’ve seen so many of those that the water pump fell apart and pieces of the water pump were stuck in the thermostat holding it closed or holding it open so the car would either overheat or would never build heat. So the best thing to do would be change the thermostat while you are also changing the water pump.
Just saved me $400 for a mechanic 🙌🏼 thanks so much man

I don’t think it would hurt anything but why u wanna leave that part off?
I'm not a car guy. I was kind of just asking if it would make the truck run better
I kind of feel like it traps hot air
Hand grinder spacer wrench
Where do I buy that hub holder ?
I made that tool but u can buy them at autoparts stores. Its a GM fan clutch removal tool 👍
So basically if my water pump blows might as well put a cam in it since I’m there already
Hell yes! 👍 😆🤣😂🫡🇺🇸
I have one question..I have a 6.0 that is fluctuating on the tempature.. would that be a thermostat going out or the water pump?

Recommendation is to change all of the pump and the thermostat together?

Would there be a way I can contact you better?

Did you buy a new water pump or just replace the gaskets in the existing pump?
We had a new waterpump delivered from carquest auto parts 👍 i never rebuild them because the bearings are always damaged. Thanks for watching
