    His move are so graceful and controlled, the uke barely needs to tap the mat. Truly a master of this art

    You'll also notice that Ueshiba always puts his arm out to meet their attack. This is partially to prepare for the technique, but in a way, he's also forcing them into a position beneficial to him. They now have to either grab the arm, bat it out of the way, or hit it - which all are to Ueshiba's benefit because they lead straight into techniques. He doesn't just stand there and let his attacker pummel him, he goes into meet them - forcing them to deal with his approach at the same time.

    Shiho-nage,kotagaesh,kaiten-nage,irimi-nage,suwari-waza nice,nice how I miss the old dojo days at the Aikikai.Oh, and always the ever transforming Kokyu-nage.

    Doshu is great and I love aikido. But to be honest, I´ve seen only one aikido master who presents aikido during embukai with the realistic way - it´s Seagal shihan. Many others only show the "kata", learned attacks and the corresponding techniques to it when they perform aikido, but Seagal shihan improvises so much during techniques. But I don´t criticise anything, I just mention:)

    Shiho-nage,kotagaesh,kaiten-nage,irimi-nage,suwari-waza nice,nice how I miss the old dojo days at the Aikikai.Oh, and always the ever transforming Kokyu-nage.Was that 'Waka-sensei' grandson of Osensei? Our Shihan was the late Akira Tohei.

    @Tarc5150 great point. It was like why does learning an armbar just feel so much cooler learning it, getting caught in it from a gracie? I guess, it just feels like you are touching a part of history - the nostalgia

    @Ihealya You didn´t understand what I meant. Don´t worry...Watch some of the short films with O-sensei where two american students come to his dojo and train with Koichi Tohei. YOu will understand what I meant under the term "kata training".

    I train and love Aikido. However, I have trained in shorinji kempo, wing chun, and kali and read about many other arts over the last 18 years. What I don't get and it bothers me is the nepotism found in Aikido. Can somebody explain? Why does the son and grandson automatically assume the position of doshu in Aikido? I think the best Aikidoist should gain such a title not be entitled to it because his last name is Ueshiba.

    No problem. Just go to your local Aikido dojo and politely explain to the instructor you are skeptical abot how Aikido works. I have found that most Amercian instructors are perfectly willing to kindly help you understand. I understand your doubts; Aikido is like a fine meal. I can describe it, but until you actually taste it you never get the full flavor. Try looking up Spirit of Samurai :Aikido on You Tube. It is a very good video that explains how Aikido works. The host is a skeptic also.

    @Bzdi138
    Yah I guess that's a good point for most people. I personally prefer to just learn from the best teacher available. Your point has merit though.
    I asked some senior instructors at my dojo and they said it's just part of Japanese tradition and culture. It doesn't mean he's the greatest aikido practioner in the world. Best of luck with your training.

    No offense but it s like he's falling down out of courtesy :-/ U know, like he s trying to hit the ground. Is it really like this an an actual battle? Leet's say someone attacks u in real life and your life s in danger (no weapons), is it possible he/shes gonna fall down like that or that u can push him/her so easily? just asking btw.

    I know folks who started training Aikido because they went to Japan "just to see". There's lots of BS in Aikido and I think folks are right to call it out. But you seem to have an open mind and I very much respect that. As with anything, it comes down to the person and the sincerity of the training. Also keep in mind, that this how Aikidoka "train" nobody who's done Aikido for a few decades will tell you it would look like this "IRL". besides it's not for fighting anyway :)

    Unfortunately Doshu is a title passed on through family and not a title that has to be earned. Therefore it is unfair to some person who has say 65 years of pure Aikido experience gets passed over by someone who has just say 15yrs experience.Thats why I think its so unfair!!

  • @kameyu1000
    @kameyu1000 14 ปีที่แล้ว

    I make a point not to condemn people who don't think Aikido works, even though it does. You have to understand that for some people, unless they personally experience something, they don't believe it to be real.

    it must be a great feeling to be thrown by doshu but i notice in some of his technique he is reaching for uke.

    its very graceful, artfull, and interesting, and looks kinda of like fun if your into it, combination modern dance, gymnastics like a man on man dance, but please dont pretend like this shit even remotely works, maybe a few holds and arm bars but the throws are so played out

    i tell you this now if you do a fall wrong and you land on your hip theres a 95% chance you will never pratice aikido again, most because of the pain caused by the fall and 2nd because you seriously crack the bone and need surgery to reattach it.

    It can't be explained. The easiest way to understand is visiting a Dojo, watch and try yourself. I can guarantee you that is not a fake nor Bullshit. I've been thrown away like a rag doll by 5 foot 120 pounds girls. and I'm 6.1 and 220 pounds.
