Ralph's rockin' red n green...must be Christmas time! 🎄 I broke into the groove at 0:45 when given a solo at a gig! Learned it from a Grover Jr. Dvd. Kinda of a thrown together group. The upright bass player, I knew when he was like 10...hadn't really seen h in yrs. He yells "relative minor!!" Off the band goes with me! It was a bitch getting back to the original groove, but what a ride!
OMG....you can almost see the strength Gadd had in his hands at that time.....and with all these speedy conga soloists out there....Raplh Mcdonald....great melody on the drums....my favorite to listen to......BE FUN TO LISTEN TO....thats an easy thing to forget when your playing for other people....
Ralph's slaps are so subtle...almost like a bass-slap or muff-slap.. It's easy to think he's just playing opens until you pay attention. Prob. Part of that listen-ability that you are talking about.
truthbtold no, didn't mean it that way, the individuals and the format of the solo reminiscent of earlier days. I wish I could see the original Apple Juice footage, if it even exists!
There are no words, both men are tops in their game!
I was at this show!
thanks for posting this. There is not enough of MacDonald playing live videos here on TH-cam. 😢

I love when Gadd stretches out
They did the same thing on the winelight Grover solo Nice my man Ralph
No words 🙏🔥🙏🔥🙏
Gotta LOVE the sound of that Supra-Phonic snare. Nothing else could ever match it. And of course, nobody could ever play it as well as Gadd.
steve gadd siempre ha sido el batería de mi grupo soñado
ralph macdonald is pure genius

Was this the Richard Tee band at the Bottom line??? I think I was there and blown away. I remember the film crew there for Japanese TV.
