    Hi friend!
    So I have an apartment with a floor that's quit bouncy and is irritating (i think is it due to the long joist). I don't think I can take the floor apartment & reinforce the joists underneath since it's a 4th floor coop in NYC. I am thinking of adding 1/2'' cork to overlap the entire floor and then lay hardwood floor on top of that. This is like trying to get rid of the bounce from the above. Do you think this would help reduce the bounce? Thanks!
    thanks for the video!

    Hi Friend, wel job done, i have just one question hopefully you are able to answer. Do you think cork is expanding just like laminates? Do i have to leace those expansion gaps between walls when i put my underlayment or i can just make it square to the walls? Thanks in advance.

      Hi Domingo, when you installing cork underlay you can’t put tightly, and will be enough expansion gaps. I never get a problem with cork underlay. Thanks

    Sir, do you need to put poly under the cork if you are on second floor or above.. from what I understand the poly is a moisture barrier, so is it only needed if you are installing on first floor?.. thanks

    • @MrYoucandoityourself
      @MrYoucandoityourself  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Dave, we put poly only for ground floor or in the basement. But if you put poly to any levels, your floor will move freely, I prefer do it for any floating floor. Thanks!

    Thank you sir. Just bought my first home. A split level and they had this cork underlayment underneath the carpet. Maybe in anticipation of hardwood flooring or for added sound dampening. They had nailed it down like plywood oddly enough. If I need to level any floors do I need to remove this guy?

    • @MrYoucandoityourself

      @@MrYoucandoityourself thank you for the tip. Based on your experience does the floor need to be true for hardwood floors? Is there any amount I can get away with. Just mentally getting ready for it. The home's foundation was professional repaired by a specialist and engineering firm, but I'm sure there's no way it could of been perfect. This is great! I'm planning a similar installation. Is it possible to lay a felt underlay like Robert's super felt 70-193 on top on the cork before laying the hardwood flooring if my goal is to maximise impact noise insulation?

    • @MrYoucandoityourself
      @MrYoucandoityourself  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      1/4” cork underlay gives you 66-68% noise reducing. It’s good enough. I never did double underlay, it’s can affects flooring locks. Read instruction on the box, manufacturer always recommend what type of underlay need to use.

    Hi, I am planning on doing a similar install in my house with a concrete slab. Will the plastic film be enough or do I need to glue the cork down? Also, I am trying to achieve the solid sound of glued hardwood but with floating laminate, will this method work?

    • @MrYoucandoityourself

    Another question. I am thinking of getting 1/2 inch cork for the second floor of a two family home (old wood floors). I want to use a vinyl loose-lay or click lock floor for easy cleaning. With the 1/2 inch cork, do you think that will absorb the sound of stepping on the vinyl floor? Should I lay a vinyl sheet between the cork and the flooring so the cork won't get wet, or is that a bad idea? Will big liquid spills damage cork?

      Hi my friend, thanks for good question, for 2nd floor you don't need moisture protection, on this video concrete sub floor above garage, why I did moisture protection with poly. Just install floor and that's it.

      You don’t need any gaps between cork underlay, you can glue it down if strata restrictions allow it. In the house for sure you can glue it down, no problem. Just need to use different trowel smaller v grove then regular for hardwood. I have a videos about it.
