  • It's time to settle in for another life update. I successfully made it through a year of teaching Kindergarten (again) after many years of being a SAHM. Here's the lessons I learned this year, and my plans for the next year.

    This grandmother of 7 enjoyed listening to your last school year of teaching & managing your family life as well ❤ I think back on a couple of years in my distant past and wonder years later how I ever made it 😮 but I did 😊
    Looking forward to your adventures ahead and the deals you find & purchase. Thank you for all of your time on your channel and wishing you much happiness ❤

      So true! There are a lot of times we look back, and are amazed at what we've managed to juggle - all by the grace if God! Thanks for listening, Sharyn, and joining me here on this journey!

      Thank you so much!! And yes, that was a big take away for me too. If I hadn't returned to teaching, then I would have always wondered if I should teach again. It could still be a possibility down the road, but for now? I am excited and confident that this is the path I want and need to follow. 😊

    What a great “wrap up” video. I’m so glad that your year back to teaching went well. There are times in life where we have to shake things up to see what direction we should be heading. Stretching ourselves out of our current comfort zone gives us a different perspective on many things. I’m excited that you get to go back to doing what fulfills you! Thank you for sharing your experiences and life with us!

      So true! You said it perfectly. Stretching ourselves out of our comfort zones (as I definitely did!) gives us a needed different perspective. The clarity I gained after this year was so helpful! Thanks for the encouragement and understanding, Laney!

    I went back to teaching this year too after 8 years of homeschooling. I really wanted a kindergarten position but this Christian school needed a middle school science teacher. Never thought I would do middle school or exclusively science, but it was a blast. I had my two oldest. Next year I add in high school health, so I get my oldest one more year.

      Oh, Bethany! Isn't it amazing how God works? I am so happy for you, that the middle school position was an unexpectedly good fit! And to be able to have your oldest another year? That's a bonus too! 🥰 Enjoy the summer!

    😊Great video. That's so hard to juggle it all-working at home, working outside of home, running a youtube channel, being a mom, wife, & homemaker. 😅
    This past year you certainly were a supermom! ❤ 👌

      Aww, thanks, Sandra! There were days when it felt like I was smoothly juggling it all, but plenty of days when I felt like I was dropping the ball too! 😜 Isn't that just life though for all of us?

    Congrats on a year of teaching!! And excited for you on what’s to come for your channel. 🎉❤. I love to see your videos each week. I love to see what you save. I have been living the frugal lifestyle for 30 plus years and not sure 🤔 I know any other way to live. 😊. I am happy for you. I only have Heb in San Antonio and Walmart occasionally I add target 🎯 if they have a great deal.

    Those students were blessed to have you as their teacher. I truly understand trying to juggle working and motherhood. As moms we try to do everything to the best of our abilities. I worked full time in a hospital laboratory while being a mom. My husband worked second shift so I also did the homework and activities…not to mention two years coaching cheerleading. I was fortunate like you to have a wonderful husband who helped in any way he could. I look back and wonder how did I do it but I wouldn’t have changed a thing. We all have to make choices to suit our families. Enjoy your children because before you know it they’ll be adults. My son is 24 and a software engineer and my daughter is 26 and is a drug and alcohol counselor. The one thing I think i instilled in my children while being a working mother is a solid work ethic because they have strong work ethics. I just retired in May and onto a new journey. Best wishes and God bless!

      Thank you for sharing your story, Noreen! It is amazing how our stories unfold. You definitely have a strong work ethic, and I hope our kids learn the same from me. And yes! I want to soak up all these moments because I know this past decade has already flown by. And the next one will probably go even faster! 😭

      @@joyfullythriving I chose to work full time because we wanted to put our children through college so both of them do not have any undergraduate debt. My daughter just has her Masters to pay for. I’ll admit there were challenges but we’re happy to have them start out in life without that school debt. I retired at 62 because of back issues and we planned for our retirement. Please keep me in your prayers as I’m facing my 3rd back surgery on July 3rd.

      @@noreenp.9858 What a gift you gave your kids! I made it through college without an debt, thanks to good scholarships, and lots of babysitting! Ha. But seriously. I took out a loan for my Masters but was able to pay it off within months of finishing. Hopefully your daughter can pay hers off quickly too. And I will keep you in my prayers that your surgery goes smoothly, and the healing is quick!

    My immune system has gotten worse since I taught in the classroom so I prefer to work from home or have my own business with some flexibility versus when I had to work (sometimes while pushing through a cold) as a teacher. I also know that I spent soooo many hours at home grading papers/entering grades that I don't know how I'd be able to juggle my family's needs plus returning to the classroom. I can only imagine returning to teaching if I could do it part time. I do enjoy homeschooling and wish I could focus just on it but since the pandemic I've had to work from home in addition to homeschooling which is definitely still very challenging.

    • @joyfullythriving
      @joyfullythriving  21 วันที่ผ่านมา +1

      That is definitely an added challenge to the demands of homeschooling, to be working from home. I am thankful you have that flexibility though - for your family and your health - to work from home!

    So would you say that it is easier to save money, or not spend as much by working from home? I feel that I spend so much more when I have to wrk.. always around food

    • @joyfullythriving
      @joyfullythriving  21 วันที่ผ่านมา +1

      That is an excellent question, Danielle! I would say that yes, in a strange way, when you make less, you do often save more money because you watch things closer - and have the time to do so! As you make more, the expenses do tend to creep up! And I totally see how you can spend more on food when working. It is easily done!
