    Found your site the other night looking for House of the rising sun tabs, must says I was up watching until midnight on your lessons for songs, I just picked up the guitar trying to learn again after taking lessons a couple of times and not sticking with it, retired 3 years ago and have to stay busy and I hope to keep up with lessons, your site is truly amazing on your style for teaching and on your layout for the tab lesson, I have looked at many sites for lessons and have found my go to site, love your passion for wanting to help us do better. Thanks so much!

    Hi Rob, enjoy your wit and straight forward teaching! I started late in life at 52 and I am also a lefty but it has been 3 years now and I am making some good progress. I am most recently hung up on scales and finger style and fumbling around a bit. Your videos are very helpful! Thanks again from PA. in the US.

    love this, watched plenty of tips but this the best so far, I was keeping my guitar leaned back to see fret board, not going to now. The tip for bar chords is really cool, keep it up mate your so easy to follow and get inspired from.

    You're the best.
    If (and only if) I could ask you a question, why is that G better?
    Anyway, you're just awesome, I'm learning so much!
    Thank YOU!

      The G is better this way as it keeps finger 1 free to add all sorts of little bits. If that finger is tied up playing the chord there’s no free finger to do this. 👍🏻

      Ah, gotcha!
      Thanks!
      🙂
      Come to think of it, learning it that way might help me balance the hand a bit, I tend to use the index finger as an anchor.
      Hey, these are not just hollow words, I really REALLY am very grateful, you're an amazing teacher.
      "Dead Or Alive" and "House of the Rising Sun" were out of my reach and now they're attainable, and it's all because you unpack things so brilliantly for us.
      All The Best, Good Sir!
      🙂

    I have been making a mental note of muting my E string. Alright on D and Am when I remember but I find Dm harder as my hand is in a slightly different position.

    How can I make better bar chords if my ring finger on my fretting hand doesn't bend?

  • @ronwillis4479
    @ronwillis4479 11 หลายเดือนก่อน

    Rob, whats the best practice for stopping the little finger from flinging around like a wild man when playing chords or fingering the strings. Can't help noticing your little finger finds a nice home when you play. I need mine to stay home instead of pointing to everything in the room. Thanks.

      Just keep doing it over and over. Playing guitar is like learning a sport. You have to train your body what to do. 👍🏻

      Make sure your strumming at an angle, avoiding the thin strings you’re not holding down. 👍🏻

    See, ok, fine... I know I need to keep the guitar vertical in order to play the chords properly, but THEN I CAN'T SEE MY DAMN FINGERS! So how do I know what strings and frets I'm hitting?! I NEED to see my damn fingers in order to play the chords! I simply do not understand how to go from looking at my fingers to NOT looking at them and still hitting the chords correctly. What's the trick to doing that?!

    • @fennahrob6934
      @fennahrob6934  11 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Once you’ve started playing you have have to ‘feel’ where the chords are. 👍🏻
