- If you want to play that distinctive folk style of Dylan, Donovan, Lennon, Ralph McTell and all the other folk-rock greats then this vid is for you. It's all about how you play the chords G - C and F - and the simple bass lines that link them all together. Tust me; it's easy when you know how.
9.20 pm this guy is great explaining simple things I’ve never been told before and I’ve struggled for years wondering how that strumming was done he’s nailed it in one video⭐️👍
No exaggerating you are a super find. I dig your lessons
Great video Rob, you are creating a great resource for us older learners, I’m from the Wirral!
Love the way u teach man. So simple but yet full of technique and timber 👍
I AM NOT
A NUMBER..
I AM..
A FREE MAN..!!
❤ Thanks for the wonderous lessons and incredibly interesting insights.

This is brilliant, I didn't start playing until I was 60 & I'm still struggling 10 years on to stretch my little finger but Rob is helping showing exactly where his fingers are on the fret board, this is very important when learning new songs
You are the greatest
Great lesson. I've always wondered how that bass line was played, and now I know. Just got to the fingers to comply😂
What a fine teacher you are
Rob I love your work. I’ve been learning guitar for 10 years lost my mojo a little, but your videos have have rekindled my interest especially the finger style lessons.
Rob, I must say... really enjoying this style of video. I've only been playing a few months, so a lot of this feels a little out of my wheelhouse currently, but I'm still picking up plenty of gold dust through some of these principles you are teaching.
Cheers, Matt
Brilliant Rob , I love your attitude to teaching guitar, makes what seems difficult seem easy , or easier anyway. Cheers.
When you started playing Catch the Wind by Donovan you really caught my ears. Rob, that would make a great lesson, apparently it was Donovan who taught Lennon some fingerstyle playing
While we are on the folk topic. I will say that In 1975, I discovered Gordon Lightfoot, I was ten years old. He changed my musical world instantly.
Thanks for making this - it's just where I want to move up to.
I can see clearly now! You're so great.....Thanks 😊
Great lesson, and I loved watching The Prisoner too.
Brilliant Rob. As an “older” learner I find your tutorials very accessible. Thanks for your help.
Have a great solstice and new year pal.
Hi Rob, loving the videos and your quirky, amusing style of presentation ! I quite often notice an array of guitars in the background and at times you've mentioned having the 'wrong' guitar with you, if you have 5 mins. at some stage, perhaps at the end of a lesson, would you do a little 'rig rundown' maybe stating why you prefer certain types of guitar for particular songs or styles of music. To finish, how about a bit of slide tuition or perhaps something fron The Byrds fingerpicking, to tip the hat at the recently departed Mr Crosby.
Keep up the great work Rob.
Love the song "The Prisoner" by Iron Maiden with the, "I am not a Number... I am a FREE MAN!!" bit before the song starts
Brilliant tutorial Rob, you're setting me free and I'm enjoying every bit of your videos!
P.S. love the prisoner too lol
This is possibly the best lesson I've seen. Thank you sah
Be seeing you!
I have trouble moving my fingers that quickly. Looking forward to your tips and picking patterns.
Follow the vid and do everything slowly to begin with. Your fingers will speed up the more you do it. Playing guitar is like a sport; you have to train your hands to do what you’re telling them.
@@fennahrob6934 thank you!
Love how you do your thing sir.
Much appreciated
Love your work......from a Scouser living in Brasil
Bit of Deliverance at the end there...
Great lesson Rob. Thank you
Hey, Rob, yet another great video. The more I watch your videos, the more I get your style of delivery which suits me down to the ground. Keep it up. Have a great Christmas - are you gigging over the festive period?
Thanks for this Rob, hope you and yours have a great christmas!
Take me down to paradise city.
Hi Bob just love your channel, you just have a great way of putting over your tutorials that inspire confidence. Ive just started play the 10 hole Diatonic harp whilst playing guitar . Could you do any lessons on this instrument?
Hi Rob, brilliant lesson. Ive been playing a 4 finger G for years now an struggling to play the G the way you do. Any tips, small hands as well😢🖐🏽
Really looking forward to the finger picking special. 🤗
Can I ask what the gold disc on the wall is for? 🙏
Gold disc is for a ‘live’ album I made with my first band, Buster. We had a number of big hits in Japan during the late 70’s. 🤪
@@fennahrob6934 good for you Rob. 👍😎
“I’m not a man, I’m a free number!” 😉
Be seeing you. 👀
Ey up Rob can you show us how you hold the pick ,,,,many thanks
Hi Rob...thanks for the video...looking forward to January now!! 😂
Here's a random one for you...what guage of pick do you use with your acoustic guitar? I'm using .73mm, and getting a good tone and volume with it...but was just curious to know what a professional would use...thanks 😊
I use the same .73. 👍🏻
@fennahrob6934 ...thanks Rob 😊👍
How about the picking of Mark Knopfler?
I’ve done ‘money for nothing’. 👍🏻
Brilliant, can you show some john prine finger picking.
Maintenance question... Does lemon oil harm a guitars finish if you use it to dust and clean your instruments?
Use lemon oil on the fingerboard.
Rob can you give me the model of cutaway guitar . Thanks
+++++
I dont know prey tell Roberto the great😂
