You helped me so much with the song Feelin Groovy. I have been working on that song for 10 years. Nobody could help me get it right but you did it. Thank you
Rob you really are so like Ronnie Corbett not just in looks but the way you present. Great lessons thankyou from an eighty year old pomm, living in Perth Australia.
How is it after many years of guitar lessons you have taught me more in 27mins and 16 seconds than any other long drawn out hour. Thank you Rob. PS I am now 70years young. 😊....As a side note, you can use the 'thus' word all day long in my book.😂
Finger placement like every thing else guitar easier said than done.😊 In the heat of the moment you take what you can get. Maybe tomorrow it will be better.
I've been playing guitar for 36 years and still enjoying your videos and they say you can't teach a dog new tricks.. lol You was talking about picks. So you use .73 I remember my favourite pick was a .53 but I always loved playing extra light strings therefore I'm guessing you play heavier gauge? It was just something I thought was relevant but still loved the video ❤
Rob I have always played C with the added G, and I can't play it with just 3 fingers. I remember when I was learning from Bert Weedon back in the very early 60s that in the books C was always shown with the added G as it was in in the tutor books in those days. I could be wrong but methinks the 3 finger C is a relatively new way of playing it.. What do you think mate. Also I always play D with my first finger on the E string as then it is easier to go straight to Dm. Anyways keep up the good work you are doing as I really do like the way you explain things.
Interesting. you cram in a lot of trickbag secrets without boring the watcher (I found it interesting anyway). Played for a long time but its easy to slip into bad habits The wrist shoulder elbow can let you know that next day, or day after. With arthritic bent fingers cant do a stright forefinger full barre, so I have to cheat with part barres, middle finger barres, different voicings etc.Our jamming group was playing coupla songs in E, and the four barre chords were peeing me off. Taking advice to capo and play D chords was a big help, and didnt clash with the others. Is the Donovan cap essential he asks cheekily? I had mine at 16 but more Peaky Blinders now. …. Ta once more marra!
I keep nails short but I have biiiiiiigggg nail beds. Really hard to do the ballerina tips idea because the nail is basically on the way no matter how short I cut. Small female here
The fingernails of my left hand are really short… much longer on my right as I’m a finger-picker. Sometimes people notice it and ask why that is. I think before I’ve told them they think I’m weird. 😜 haha!
Thanks for keeping us beginners as a part of your life's purpose!
Your a brilliant teacher Rob, thank you.
That's a great video full of the important stuff for beginners and a great reminder for the rest of us. Thanks 😊
These are great lessons by an obvious professional musician who has a great knack for instruction. Thank You!
Rob, I love your style of teaching. It’s very motivational and you cram so many small tips that are hard to come by in each video. Thanks so much!
Thanks you make things simpler
I’ve been holding the pick the wrong way for the last 40 years! Lightbulb moment! Thank you sir 👍
What brilliant advice.. Thank you for posting this for us all..
thanks a million Rob. I catch you every once in a while . love your lessons and that subtle British humour is always there...love ya pal.
More priceless wisdom for those who can't (yet) from someone who can.
Tk you for your encouragement 🎉

I use light gauge on standard E tuning and medium gauge on standard D tuning. 👍🏻😎
Sound advice much appreciated yet again Rob

I use the six string C when I’m picking something like The Boxer. I use the 5 string version if I want to add melody notes with my 4th finger. 👍🏻
And there's me thinking those slash chords were being played live! D'oh! 🤣
Great advices !
Brilliant lesson!

Hi Fennah.
How do I download your music sheets?
Look for the link under the vid. If you don’t see it straight away click ‘more’. 👍🏻
What's a nice type of chair to play guitar in?
A velvet throne

👍😉
That's ok if your fingers are long enough to do that
'thus' is not a popular word? i am not a native speaker and realised might be overusing it
In the manner now being indicated " Thus " you're welcome 👍.
My dog is deaf. I don't get any criticism from him 😅
😂
That was great! Thanks. I dont suppose you could do a lesson on tips for short fingered players, I've struggled with this for years. 🥹
Thanks!
