Let's hear it for Verdi! AND for concert performances when one can really appreciate the music and the talent of the singers--WITHOUT the interference of so-called "directors." No scenery, no stage direction--pure musical beauty and pathos.
Without Verdi's and Puccini's, all opera houses be transferred into shopping malls instantly...and I LOVE the opera concert without that much heavy dress ups. Met stages new production of 30 plus millions modern stage quite often, quite a difficult job to manage, but I care more, or maybe only the voices! And it is ever so hard to find something close to Jerry's quality on stage.
Too short carreer, those of Diana Soviero and Jerry Hadley compensated by the extraordinary long one of Leo Nucci. Their singing is here just outstanding.

Jerry Headly a very dangerous singers to follow was he... Here Jimmy Conlon sets a mastership standard for catching a tenor he rushes trough....

I love Jerry, but Leo Nucci is totally different, not exciting and overrated.
Soviero's career was not short! She may have been in the shadows of other singers, but she started in 1969
Diana had a long, beautiful and international career.
@@道-p2e I agree with you about Nucci.
@@jamesnickoloff6692 How about Jerry Hadley?
