Thank you so much for this video! We caught our Hisense chest freezer not cooling or cycling at all. After watching you pull the thermostat off and test it, I did the same and discovered I had the same problem. I jumpered the wire and it came back to life. I have a new thermostat on the way. Thanks again!

Scott, how your freezer is placed against the cabinet in the beginning of the video, it appears you are blocking the vent system of the unit. Unless you are in a cooler climate, this might create a problem.

I put pieces of wood on the ground, along the back and cabinet side to keep an air gap all the way around. Also, behind the unit is one of those air vents in the wall of the garage, so it gets lots of ventilation. Great question. Thanks.

@@ScottBelangerVideos The manual states 3 inches in the rear from wall, and 4 inches on the side. the main side I question, is the right side, where the vent is located. It appears you have no where near the 4" required. I'm referring to the 0:02 mark in the video, where you display the freezer.

I have the same unit with a bulb that no longer works. I would like to order a new bulb and thermostat in case mine does the same. Do you have info on the parts you replaced and where you purchased them?

      Hi Jason,
I bought them on-line from a company called Encompass Supply Chain Solutions. I think they are a distribution warehouse for lots of the major manufacturers. This was the only time I've used them, but they seemed pretty legit.
      Lamp: HIS K1147376
      Thermostat: HIS K1806104
      Hope this helps.
      Cheers,
      Scott

Hi. I have the same frezzer.. i need to ask.. mine have cold inside but goes ver hot at outside walls. I dont see any condenser fan .. are this work without condenser fan? Why goes very hot at side walls?. I notice this because the electricity goes for one day because of the distribution plant issues here where i live. So when back i notice a few hours later about this hot at walls goes insane . Are this normal? Goes away when reach in side temps? Mines the front light dont work but still work. Or this cause the problem? Thanks

Hmmm. This does not sound normal. Can you have a qualified repair person take a look at it?

Get a thermometer and see if it maintains the specified temperature. If so don't worry. The condenser is the tubing in the walls, and that's how it gives up it's heat, if no fan, or condenser coil is present.

Maybe next time try a "field adjustment" on that thermostat. Give it The Lock Picking Liar treatment?

Great comment. I actually thought about taking the thermostat apart to see if I could determine the problem. But some "destructive testing" would have been fun too.
