Can you close refrigerator door over the fixed crack before the silicone is set ?
Worth considering drilling a small, say 3mm hole at each end of the crack to prevent it growing longer.

Best advice is to add 50ml of sulphuric acid to the compressor before regassing to reduce corrosion
