This was the only live action Princess that Disney didn't mess up in my opinion. Instead of following the original to a tee, it added more context like what happened to Cinderella's mother to the origin of her name, and they actually fleshed out the prince right from the get-go which is really appreciated. Also the blue gown with the butterflies, absolutely stunning
One of the first in Disney's wave of live action remakes, and definitely oneof the best. It still managed to capture a lot of the magic of the original.
@@DanGamingFan2406it's ironic since Disney really failed anywhere else.. The live-actions of inspector Gadget terrible and really dated due to the random cartoon sounds effects, and "quality" of the movies..
I really like this adaptation to Walt Disney’s Cinderella film. While there were quite a few modifications to the classic film, it didn’t take away from the enjoyment I had throughout the entire film. It’s a wonderful film imo.😌🙂
Great reaction! 😊 This is my absolute favorite of the live action Disney remake movies. Another fantastic movie that is somewhat of a telling of the Cinderella story is the 1998 movie "Ever After". I very highly recommend that movie. Looking forward to your next reaction. 😊
I still apreciate the original film and the first time the liveaction left me amazed by how Cinderella's story was told from she was born and how she learned about the courage and kindness of her mother, especially her humility gets me when she says: "I am not a princess, just a simple girl", and I'm shocked by how little a little she came to ended up under the abuse of her stepmother and they give her name "Cinderella". It terrified me when her stepmother proposed that if she gave her help, she would put her in charge of the kingdom, what level of ambition!, and it is my absolute favorite moment of bravery when Cinderella stands firm to protect the Prince and the Kingdom too no matter what she may makes her.. In addition, the movie is still magical and so is the transformation of the dress, Walt Disney's favorite animation, like the original, having added more depth to the story and how she met the prince before the ball and that's why she wanted to go see it, being absolutely incredible how she now becomes queen and along with Kit, they are the kindest and fairest rulers that the Kingdom ever had
Jesus I was crying the whole time during your reaction. Hadn’t watched the movie in a while. This is the best of the live actions by far. It was the first one & it expanded from the classic: like enhancing the development of Kit x Ella by having them meet beforehand. It very much could have happened in the classic & we just didn’t know. The relationship between both of their fathers & how loving & supportive they were to Kit & Ella helping explain both character’s kind personalities. Such beautiful storytelling & directing. You can tell how much passion there was in the filmmaking, like they tried in making everything look beautiful & alive. Like major props to the costume designer. I wish they would make all the other live actions like this: tell the story with only the necessary added elements that strengthen the story rather than completely change the story because of the writer’s personal likings. It ticks me off when they do that. Keep the classic story, only expand upon it. This movie was definitely it ✨
Probably the ONLY live action remake that Disney actually got right. It's clear that this was made by people who loved and respected the source material which were the original story and the 1950 animated version, a unique blend of both and didn't change much. Lily James is excellent casting as Cinderella, to think she did this and later played young Meryl Streep in Mamma Mia 2 and then Pamela Anderson in Pam and Tommy. Cate Blanchett as the stepmother is also genius, her monologue to Cinderella about how she ended up the way she was is probably the best written scene any other remakes wish they had. Also Lily and Richard Madden had great chemistry, they fleshed out the Prince so well. And the ballgown, it's clearly the best ballgown out of all the other Cinderella versions. Three time Oscar winning costume designer Sandy Powell understood the assignment very well. You truly believe in the magic in this one compared to all the recent lifeless remakes.
Thank you for reacting to this!! I love love love this movie!!! It's my favourite Disney remake. It's just so magical and Cinderella's blue dress was done so well!!
This movie and the new Little mermaid have to be the best live actions IMO they both are so magical and have great acting. Cinderella stands out by far in costuming of course and Little mermaid with its acting and music
This is actually a decent remake. With that being said, it still has problems. Some of the GOOD updates it made was keeping the focus on Cinderella and the prince as opposed to the side characters. Plus Kit's relationship with both Ella and his father was developed properly. The biggest flaw imo is Cinderella. They really tried to make her a strong female lead and they actually made her WORSE than the animated version by trying to just cope with being a slave to her family and trying to be positive whenever possible. At least the animated Cinderella did get frustrated and she did try to escape when the Duke arrived. This Cinderella just gave up.
One of the first but remains the best live action remake. The only movie that managed to make me cry multiple times no matter how many times I do reruns
Fun fact originally they asked Emma Watson if she wanted to be Cinderella but said no because she likes belle so they let her be belle In the original jaq was male but they change him to female so he’s more like a love interest for Gus Gus
The only live action Disney movie that was a perfect mix of the animated version and a little touch from Brother Grimms' version of Cinderella. I still love the animated version better, but the remake has its charms, the more recent remakes just got so many things wrong.
Some good live action adaptations of the story to check are: Any of the Rodgers and Hammerstein tv movie versions of their musical as well as Slipper and the Rose. In regards to this one I was fine with giving more for the Prince and King even more for the Stepmother, but what really upset me with this was how bland they made Cinderella. In the original (I hate that I constantly have to say this when duscussing a Disney Remake) she waa not only hopeful and could be happy, but also allowed to be angry or sad. Here she is just happy and doesn't give many other emotions. Which brings me to my next complaint when she is locked in the tower rather than be screaming, banging on the door or doing anything in an attempt to escape like the original. She is just dancing and singing while it is only by complete accident she is heard when one of the mice opens the window.
I do adore this Disney Live Action Remake of Cinderella honestly if Disney with their live action remakes, just keep to the original animation stories, most of them wouldn't have sucked
The problem with this remake is that they tried to make Cinderella herself flawless, and that's a problem. The original Cinderella had her limits, and that's what made her relatable and human. You felt her pain. Here, though, they made her into a smiling zombie. Thus, the original from the 50s wins.
I have to disagree. They didn’t verbally state it, but Ella does have a flaw in this movie that I believe is more present in this than the original. In the original she being bossed around by her stepfamily but it gives no explanation as to why she tolerates it. In this movie it shows the promise she made to her mom as a child. Her mom simply wanted her to feel strong to tackle the world and keep her kind heart, but she didn’t mean even when people are terrible to you just tolerate it. Ella thought that her mom would have wanted her to suck up the poor treatment and be kind anyway. Her way of thinking and acting this way is destructive to herself and her self worth. She is insecure and thinks the prince won’t like her because she has been acting as a servant. Her flaws ( or should I say challenges) in this movie are insecurity and self sacrificing to an unhealthy degree. She smiles in the movie because that is how she grew up learning to cope with her pain. The original character does the same thing. They both end up crying once the dress is ripped by the well so they both have their emotional limits. You can see she is starting to unravel when they rip the dress “how could you?”. Never do either characters lose it at someone. Don’t get me wrong I love the original, but I think this version of Cinderella has more of a backstory and personality other than I just like animals.
