I just bought my husband his dream rig for his birthday! A 1994 Land Cruiser (80 Series in Australia).. It has become our pet project and though it was in excellent shape, I had the engine completely (ground up) overhauled and the transmission replaced with a brand new transmission and had all the factory shocks suspension restored before presenting it.. Now it is our labor of love and we are turning it into our future overland/expedition monster.. Bone stock it goes absolutely EVERYWHERE.. We have dominated on trails from lowesr to highest ratings with ease lol and love ignoring signs that recommend only modified 4x4s should proceed lol....The show 4WD Action turned us into an overlanding couple lol.. This is an absolutely beautiful rig you have here!
Gotta say, I like the fact that you guys actually state the faults with products. A bit of honesty goes a long way and at least people get a real appraisal...cheers
IFS is made for ride comfort and speed. i love IFS, but make sure the front lower arm made from Total Chaos Fabrications (Official Toyota Racing Supplier for Arm)
I've got a 100 series that I'm starting to do a build-up of and this is basically my list of gear, Throw in a long-range tank, 2.75in exhaust and that's it! Nice to see an IFS Yoda going hard.
Thats probably the best 100 I've seen! Love it. I always said If I got a 100, id have to get the JDM Flares. Updates the look so much. Well done love it.
Hi Anthony, You have one the best Landcruiser rigs I have seen mate, Love all the mods. I have a 105 series as well and was wondering if you can give me some details about the flares (brand, retail where I can get them from) as I am putting 0 offset sunraysias or speedys on mine.
@@antopaul4911 Out of interest Anto did you have any problems with tyre rubbing on the fronts? Recently went to 0mm offset rims too but have rubbing issues with the front even after removing the front mud guards.
That is a really tastefully modified HDJ100R Landcruiser. Thank you for sharing. I think there are way too many myths floating around that stop people from modifying these. Perfect car for touring and occasional 4WDing. Thank you.
Love the muscular look of the 100 series -my favorite LC. Cleanest of mods as well. Though I might be a bit biased cuz I daily its mini-me, the 3rd gen 4Runner.
s50201 also if you live in Australia, you can get a 100 series extremely cheap (in good condition) Also I’m the owner of a 79 series but I want a 100 series
Fantastic Video Full of Practical and Useful advise and some great tips. And free of the "sponsors" products so many shows now push. Just good honest Aussie advise. You guys sure have some well sorted vehicles! And that 100 Series, wow, great to see some original thinking and problem solving, its a true credit to the owner.
Very neat modifications under the hood there. A lot of times you see some modified engine bays with everything going North, South, East, West and then some. Nice build there mate.
WOW. I've always seen pictures online of this vehicle and never seen a video. Much inspiration for me to build up my Land Cruiser 100 series. Wish the American version came with turbo diesel.
The 1FZ and the V8 models are way more fun and powerful and cheaper to buy and maintain and just as reliable and bulletproof. Don't know why people are so obsessed with diesel
Regarding the pins that snap off on the rear tire carrier. Snapped off on mine as well. All you need to do is add a lock washer on it. The lock washer stops it from spinning off.
There's hope for my stock Turbo Diesel 100 series yet : ) Be keen to hear which suspension Anto chooses to replace the current brand. Love ya work Ronny
roughly 300km out of both tanks on the 4.5 cruiser. I've got a 4.8 Patrol which is obviously petrol but switched out the stock tank to a 146 tank I believe and I can get some good K's out of that. Roughly speaking about 600-800 km so yea. Not hating on Cruisers by the way.
Surprising to hear you would go from a OME suspension to Bilstein. I have had both in different platforms and found the Ome to hold up and perform better. What would be the reasoning behind this? Thought you said something about holding up to the weight. I have noticed on a few other TH-cam channels coming out of Australia that OME is not talked about you see your fair share of ARB equipment but ome suspension is rarely if at all talked about why is this? In the states it is pretty well known and used on many different vehicle platforms but I just don’t hear the Australian guys talk about it very often if at all. Is it just that there are so many other suspension options over there then maybe compared to the states?
I was considering getting a 4Runner (somewhat similar to the land cruiser) here in canada since the cruiser isn't offered, but I need the optional space of having a pickup truck, so going with the tacoma, (pretty much north american hilux) But damn is it ever hot there. we hit 37 38C with humidity in the summer but wow. I will definitely not be coming to australia ever in your summer haha. I can't take heat. I'd have to come in the winter.
I think a few years ago here in toronto the hottest we got during a heat wave with humidity was 41C. On average without humidity our summers are around 29-31C and working construction I die. Meanwhile in the winter with -30C almost -40C with wind I am perfectly fine haha. Hell today it was only a high of 7C and I was only in a light hoodie. I have no clue how you guys manage the heat down there.
Joe if I had to put up with your freezing temperatures you may as well bury me in the back yard. Me thinks the old saying horses for courses is so true.
hahaha, thats what everyone says. Even all the people that live here always complain, I must be one of the few that have no problem with the cold. I'm just so adapted to it no issue.
Its what you get used to. I was born in Adelaide where you can get up to ten days of 40 degree heat but its a dry heat and I had no problem but in Sydney at thirty five and humid I am buggered
Nice truck I have a petrol 60series cant take it anywhere ridiculous on fuel put a deposit on a factory turbo 100 series the other day not cheap but hopefully get what you pay for.
My dads getting me my first car soon... It's gonna be a 100 series, not sure what year though. 2000-2005 I presume. Now its my job to raise the money for the ARB bumper with winch, a rhino rack on top, a slee rear bumper with a ladder and spare, a lift and off road tires. Oh and a new radio with bluetooth (of course). I shouldn't need a snorkel because this is mainly for the hunting club (ladder and rack for hauling carcasses or even setting up a chair to coyote hunt, the winch for yard work or cleaning up huge branches after bad storms, and the lift and tires for actually getting places in the farm). I'm thinking I will keep a trailer hitch on it at all time. Any other suggestions for someone like me? or even just suggestions on how the hell ill get the money for it? I doubt any of this will happen, but its fun to dream
@@phantomwalker8251 it is a great 4x4 with slightly less travel on the front suspension for half the price. Diesel is shit and weak and more maintenance and more expensive for a rattle box. It has 2 diffs, the front one is just not mounted in a solid axle and it has low range and is in every way the same as an 80 series but without the solid front axle and the price tag
