I've know Randy since I was born he and my father have been friends for decades and I must admit between the two of them it helped me develop my love of environmental storytelling through weathering and design and I'm glad to see hum featured in one of my favorite content platforms
I have seen models similar to this detail once in the Smithonian but the closer you look at Cooper's models they begin to tell a story to you in your head. They look even more brilliant to closer you look! Great video again!
I worked at Legacy FX. Randy came in for a little while on Iron Man 2. He totally legitimaized the look of the interiors of the iron. man suit peices for the close up beauty pieces. Fine clean work. His sense of conduit looking pipes and conections really tide them together.
Truly exceptional work by Randy with every detail paying off - What an inspiration for keeping the artform alive!! And such a fun concept you guys have come up with for the De-merit badges, would love to get my hands on a full set when hopefully I get my workshop going someday soon! I'll say 'The Prevailing by Failing Bundle' could be a good name for the set as it really gets to the core of why certain challenges and failures should be seen as advancements in the journey to becoming a maker! :D
I've been a big fan of Randy's work ever since I saw the article about him in FineScale Modeler back in the 80's. Got to finally meet him when he came in for an interview while I was working at the Apogee model shop. Very nice guy!
Yes! I thought you were into gunplay, models, figurines and such thanks Adam for bringing light to this great hobby! Awesome interview very interesting
Finally some mention of Randy Cooper... never understood why no mention by Adam about him. Well, still no mention by him specifically, but at least the site finally recognizes him.
Randy is a legend. I'm not even that involved in the scale modeling scene and even I'd heard of him way back in the 80's. Not only is he an amazing artist by all accounts he's an incredibly kind and decent person.
I love when you make videos like this. I love to see the work from all the master model makers you show in a video like this. I get joy is seeing what people are able to make and how stunning they look as well.
Absolutely amazing models. I’ve had a look at his site and was blown away. Beautiful kits. 👍 It’s extremely clear your looking at a movie model professional builder. Awesome. 👍
Absolutely! It's such an incredible movie, in my opinion. One thing I noticed, though, is that the flying police car said NYPD on it. I believe the movie took place in Los Angeles. Mayby just a little artist preference? I don't know, I guess I'm just asking.
I've realized the difference between American / Western spaceships and models and kit bashing and scratch builds versus Asian and Japanese specifically: Western has a lot more greebles while Asian has a lot more vents
I have BINS of spare bits from over 40 years of building. Sadly, and frustratingly, I've never been able to build up the gumption to actually scratchbuild a sci-fi creation- YET. It will happen, but I look at a part and wonder if I'll need it elsewhere...
Don't worry, thanks to the war game hobby, particularly warhammer 40k, the model ist hobby won't die easily. Many wargamers transition across over time.
Why doesn't Norm have his own channel yet? He's cool and all, but it's a little disappointing to see a notification after notification for a new Adam Savage Tested video... And it's Norm, not Adam featured in it.
A couple of reasons I suppose. Like for the fact that Adam has always had a b team on his projects / shows. (MythBusters wasn't just Adam and Jamie). Or that Adam likes to bring a wide variety of content to makers around the world, and he defers to his staff (norm) on topics that he may be more current on. (Honestly an honorable trait) But the main one is probably logistics. It's a company. Adam has a life. He can't upload videos every day, and in order to pay staff a run a business, you need other people to pitch in. (Make videos). Especially if you want to stay in the "suggested" portion of an algorithm that favors constant uploads. I do agree that i personally prefer Adams videos. (Im not too into model kit stuff). But I get it from a business stand point. These videos are free so I can't complain. Haha
@@Real_Name_Redacted a well explained, fair response. I appreciate that effort in a world of increasingly smarmy dismissals and attitude. (But I still think Norm deserves his own channel or sub-heading. He's got his own style of excitement and vigor that could and maybe should stand on it's own.
Reminds me when I'd show up to service customers machines and they'd ask where Bill the owner was because he knew how to fix them, I politely told them if Bill trusted me and they trusted Bill, they should trust me. Quality content is quality no matter who the talking head is.

Randy is on Facebook only now. He posted yesterday that he shut down his website.

Randy's work is amazing and he seems like a really nice guy.
@1204trip It looks like Randy’s website is down. : (

Man oh man who wouldn't stay there just looking around with such awe in your face 🤗🌟🌟

Love seeing Randy featured! His models are amazing. Super talented dude.

Randy is the man! One of the best.
The Spinner model❤ I bet Syd Mead would have loved it. Fantastic
Would like a longer interview and tour of Randy's shop and more of his fabulous models.
Norm is so good you can feel his passion!
Randy does amazing work. I just received his Ahsoka kit and the quality is outstanding. Can't wait to get started on it.
I got to meet Randy and tour his house. Fantastic collection and it was an absolute pleasure meeting him. I felt like a kid in a candy store.
Randy is one of my favorite modelers EVER. Such a delightful man. Love his work!
Randy is a legend in the hobby. Such an inspiration.
Norm is the best. I love watching you front of the camera.
Yes! I thought you were into gunplay, models, figurines and such thanks Adam for bringing light to this great hobby! Awesome interview very interesting

That custom tank was cool AF. I love the movie stuff but original designs always impress me more.
Great job Norm! Love your added content on Tested, the awkwardness adds to the fun of this video😊

Darn, that spinner is great.
Love Randy's he's old school.
This is amazing!!
The Ghost originally appeared in Star Wars: Rebels. It was a 3D animiated program, but thre were some serious details on the models there.
The Man, The Legend
Great video norm sir 👏 😊❤
The bundle should be called the Good Demaritan bundle
LOVE RANDY !!!!!
That bison tank is the best one!
great episode!
love this kind of thing.
Who is about to for to his website, sat down before looking at the pricing, and then thought my mistake they are rather reasonable!
I would love anything Bladerunner based, please!
Absolutely! It's such an incredible movie, in my opinion. One thing I noticed, though, is that the flying police car said NYPD on it. I believe the movie took place in Los Angeles. Mayby just a little artist preference? I don't know, I guess I'm just asking.
Could be from the second movie?
Damn I would really like to paint that bison tank looks cool
I've realized the difference between American / Western spaceships and models and kit bashing and scratch builds versus Asian and Japanese specifically: Western has a lot more greebles while Asian has a lot more vents

2:45 hang on didn’t Adam so a video a little while ago with the ship spinning.
That was interesting.
Probably not original, but I have an idea for the full set of demerit badges: The All You Can *BLEEEP* set.
OMG I cant focus on the video, Norm has a habit of talking with his arm gestures so close to these beautiful models. 🤣 It’s just a matter of time..
yo that tank
Randy!❤ fire you're painter! 😂
It's me or modelist are often rather older guys? (I'm 53 myself). I hope it's not a craft that is being lost.
No it’s true 90% of old guys are modelers
Don't worry, thanks to the war game hobby, particularly warhammer 40k, the model ist hobby won't die easily. Many wargamers transition across over time.
im in my late 20s and have been doing model making, miniature painting, etc for a few years now
cool

A decade ago while Mythbusters was still running Adam was the rare sight on the channel and Will and Norm produced the majority of the content.

🤌
Mmm, Spinnery.
:)
