I just can’t understand why some people feel they can be mean to others. Your business model is yours, and they can do things their own way. I like watching different folks to gain bits and pieces so I can do what works best for me. You share great info, so thanks for that. Looking forward to more words of wisdom on future videos. Thanks!!!
You will find the bigger you get on TH-cam the more trolls. Lots of times it’s other failed creators that had poor content and are jealous of your channel growing. They can create as many accounts as they want and spew stupidity. Your content it top notch, don’t change a thing and you can laugh all the way to the bank! Thanks Matt 🙏🏼
Thanks Tommy, I anticipated getting flamed, was not as prepared for a thousand-word essay on how I was full of shit. Caught me off guard, got more pissed off than I should have. Lesson learned. Appreciate your support and all your help.
I too have chronic pain , I lost my job of 14yrs because my health declining I have learned so much through Matt! He is a great inspiration to me. I really enjoy everything he shares.
Don't let the internet trolls get you down! You're channel seems to be gaining popularity and with that, the haters will come out of the woodwork trying to bring you down to pad their own Insecurity and jealousy. You are one of the few youtubers I even watch anymore and its because you are a very logical person. Taking little pieces of what I hear people like you talk about along with knowledge I gain everyday from experience, I am building my own buisness model that works for me. I don't expect that my way is the right way for everybody, but it is the best way for myself at the time. Thank you for the great content and well wishes. I hope your pain gets better quickly.
loved this conversation. You have lots of wisdom, thanks for sharing it! I'm so sorry you deal with chronic pain. Pain is a miserable thing. I truly pray you friend relief and the motivation and strength to push forward with the therapies and what not you previously mentioned. Believing you don't have to live like this forever! Hang in there and keep fighting. xx
Couple thoughts: 1. Your vocabulary simultaneously intimates me and inspires me . 2. I’ve never defined my business model but I’m starting to think I should (more so that it is clearly defined in my mind) 3. Your inventory system looks like mine (stacked plastic bins) and it’s starting to hurt my back to move them around every time I make a sale. 4. I agree with all your points and love how fired up you got in this vid!
I don't know why some resellers are so quick to throw shade on other resellers. The BEST thing about reselling is that each one of us is able to customize it to fit our lifestyles, interests and desires. I missed the drama yesterday but you appear to be handling it with aplomb. Thank you for being a human on youtube. :-)
Every time I watch one of your videos I learn a new word to add to my vocabulary. I also learn reseller related stuff to, so thank you. I would love to hear (maybe through a video) of your previous education, career and what got you into reselling. Thanks Matt
Hands down the best channel out here. I’m still trying to figure out my business model but your knowledge has definitely helped me steer in a certain direction
Great info as always. I'm building a store with longer tail vintage items and quicker flip goods to keep the cash flow going. The mix works for me. I really like your data driven approach. That's a smart and useful approach in any model.
This is one of the best reseller videos I've ever watched/listened to and there's more than enough out there.. you're always so upfront and to the point, knowledgeable and very relatable. 🙃
This is my first time watching you and I am impressed. I am seventy five years old and have been buying and selling for many years, including owning thrift stores. The best business model is what's best for you. The best business model is keep the volume of sales at the amount you are comfortable with and what gives you peace of mind. If you feel your income is suitable to your lifestyle do not change unless you choose to. The model you have chosen is perfect as you have control over your life, you have control over your inventory. We don't know how long this reselling business is going to last or be profitable. I guarantee those with thousands of listings, warehouses, trucks, employees and thousands of dollars invested are walking on thin ice. Every business is risky and could down hill very quickly. You are doing it right, so grow within your comfort zone if you wish, but keep control. Look at it this way, if you fill your fridge with too much food alot of it will spoil before you can eat it...same goes for everything. You have chronic pain that keeps you up all night? How do you think you would feel if you had the worry of added expenses that could cause you a different kind of pain. You are doing it right! Good luck to you.
I've been watching your channel for a while. I sell only a small amount of mens on Posh but I find you so engaging, interesting and knowledgeable that I love tuning in!!
Haters/trolls are driven by intimidation. Whether it’s your business model, ability to educate in a humble manner, with dry humor sprinkled in or your grasp of grammar and vocabulary... If they simply disagreed, they could move on and not engage. Keep up the great work!
I’m in too much physical pain to do all the shipping, photographing, and listing etc to do all the work of selling the low profit things. I LOVE YOUR BUSINESS MODEL!
Hi Matt, I am new sub but have been watching your new and past videos. I love how articulate you are, and your vocabulary and methods for business are impressive and is fresh of air in the reseller community. I truly believe you are a true value and amazing resource. Wish you the best!
I LOVE that you are so articulate and are able to skillfully explain why you do what you do. As a new re-seller after retiring from a career in healthcare I still have an innate need to hear the "why" of a decision. Thank-you!
This is the kind of video that the new reseller need, thank you so much for be clear and honest with you audience. I just subscribed to you channel and I don’t regret at all!!!!!!
@@ThriftALife Thank you Matt, I saw a video of what you sold were you had sale items from 12 to 5 dollars on poshmark. Do you recommend sale item that lower price on line, and it’s worth it? You business model is about quantity vs price? Hopefully you understand my writing my English it’s not that good. Appreciate you time !!!!!
I actually live in a pretty big house but as a courtesy to my family, I would rather the inventory not junk it up. :). Trying to adopt your model and focusing a lot more on clothes. You’re very inspiring. Keep on being yourself and Happy Easter.
Golden finger picker, pinching pesos, and Hart Pickers were some of the very first You Tubers I ran into a few years ago when I started out, and needed info on what I was getting into.😊✌
My wife started on Poshmark more than 2 years ago. The entire year of 2020 , she sold only 60 items. I started helping here and we listed 1,000 items that were sitting around and now we sell 100 items per month. I find using the sell through math probabilities very helpful. Now I understand why some of the low value crap sells and why. In addition to the obvious Lululemon and Patagonia we actually sell lots of crap . For example we can source items for 25 cents as long as they have a minimum 30% sell through rate and a $12 sales price. At first it seemed like it wasn't a good idea, but the numbers mean that 10 items per 100 will sell per month for about $120.
I have an answer to those annoying people **DELETE** You have way more positive comments than negative, just ignore (delete) them and don't give them a voice. If they have it all figured out why are they watching you?? That says more about them than you. Don't change a thing and keep the videos coming.
How dare you run your business the way you want! So rude! /s I definitely do things differently than I did 2 years ago. I’m starting to look things up and see if it’s worth my time. It’s nice to hear how others are running their business too! I appreciate the advice and tips you share! Definitely helps me!
The great part about running your own business if that you do it the way that you want. There is not just one way to be a reseller.....you also need to be flexible and adapt if something changes or is not working. I have changed my business model many times over the years and it keeps growing every year. I always look forward to your videos and knowledge!
Great video! There are benefits to both models. I aim for the fast flip model as I’m limited on space, and taking the time to list many small items takes a toll. It all depends on how easy it is to photograph and list as well. Kids clothes, for example, often have lower margins but they’re easy to photograph, list, and store.
You are Guilty! I followed your advice, bought the Manifesto, and totally changed my mindset. I have less sales but my daily sales has doubled! I am very lucky to be near a bins that has amazing stock! I'm leaving the crap behind, so I'm paying less for inventory but my sales are way up. I have a lot less stress, and more free time. I can"t Thank You enough! But I can buy you Coffee!
Also it’s based on what you can find at your Goodwills stores. The stores in my area, Goodwill charges for clothing between $5 and $10 and will sell for probably between $10 to $15 like you said on eBay.
I found an UNTUCKit shirt at mine for like 6 bucks. My good will is about the same 8 bucks for jeans and I’ve been finding bunch of silver and buckle jeans. Sadly they aren’t selling as much as I hoped but I just need to find the right number that they will sell for
I go with a combination model: I like to sell high priced vintage items, but I'm realistic, and I try to pick up $1 items I know I can sell for $15-20. Some weeks I sell a lot of cheaper stuff, others, I sell a few items, but they are high priced. My biggest problem is that I largely only have access to clothing. Not my favorite, but I make it work. Keep rockin!
Keep the faith and skip over the reviews that antagonize they don’t always even mean to. You add value by sharing what works for you and we all formulate our plans on many variables.thanks, you have helped me fine tune as have others
Once again, thanks so much for sharing your knowledge. As a fairly new reseller, I am learning a lot from your videos. Chronic pain is an invisible disease and unless you experience it, as we do, you can’t understand the limitations it places on your activities.
Such an insightful video. I have about 650 active listings on posh but it’s slow to see money come in unless I list at least 20 new items daily which is super do-able but I do have health issues that have kept me from being consistent. I didn’t have an up front investment except a couple hundred dollars here and there. People really aren’t wanting to spend as much in my store as they used to so it’s really been an adjustment during the pandemic bc my pieces take much longer to sell unless I drop prices a lot. Honestly some items do sit for a year which is insane. Once I move through this stuff I’ve been sourcing much more in scarcity only choosing high quality high turnover items. So my business model is definitely changing. I haven’t Gwen thrifting during COVID either Bc I’m immune compromised.
I love your down to earth personally and style! Yes, you are 100% right. Everyone’s needs are what determines their business model. I am a fairly new reseller (4 months!) And I am really learning from you. Thank you! I personally have been doing my business model like the Carmax’s. ( i used to be sales consultant there) A nice price range. All decent quality and a few luxury items. I focus on great customer service and it’s been working great for me! Keep up the great videos! I’m truly learning a lot 🙂👍🏼
I concur. I subsist on finding things that move quickly. This has taken 2 or 3 years to figure out. Easy to photograph is another criteria for selecting inventory. Time is money. I am enjoying your content. Thank you!
Don't let comments bring you down or ruffle your feathers too much. People can be really frustrating! I love your business model. Just had our youngest child move out...loves of extra room in our home and excellent sourcing stores...$1-5/items. Just starting to get really movin on it. Thanks for the motivation and information. 👍
Very smart video. You handled this situation so well. I had a business model of buying the highest selling price I could find and watching my asp religiously. I live in Florida, where clothes sourcing is disadvantaged (don’t even ask about antiques or vintage) but, it worked while I was part time. When I went full time and it became my primary income, I knew I had to accept picking up lower asp items. I needed cash flow. To pay bills. To buy new inventory. Now, recently, I’ve changed again. My local goodwills have half price days, never did before. I hit all 4 of my local stores shopping all day long to get $2.50 shirts and $3.50 priced dresses and jackets. That price gives me more wiggle room to sell items shipped for $20-$25. Go with the flow, and do what ya gotta do.
You are loved my friend 💞. Your honesty and straightforwardness is refreshing and appreciated. I live your "let's cut through the bullshit" approach to life as well as business is what the people who watch you want. I owe you a beer my friend, and a hug when it's healthy to do so (I'm halfway there). Wishing you love.
Honestly, i am pretty new to reselling... just found your channel pretty recently and have enjoyed your thoughts, humor and tips. I was watching a few other resellers who buy liquidation and resell for a crap ton of money but unfortunately do not have the space, nor the capital, to start something like that. I really came to say thank you for you tips and suggestions. Have an amazing day!
Also, my business model is similar to yours. I would rather buy $100 of video game equipment that sells for $200 in a few hours and with 3 listings than buy AE jeans for $.75 and sell them for 9.95 + ship 40 times.
He has a wonderful vocabulary, and I enjoy hearing some of the words he uses (and will look some of them up sometimes too!) so I am learning business and language skills at the same time. lol
Hey Matt, great to see someone talking intelligently about their business model. As a part timer I work on the high ASP model, but I 100% understand why you work in a different way. No one has the right to tell you that you are wrong and that everyone should be using their model. Like you, I promote the idea of making more concision and considered decisions about your reselling business. Thanks for putting out informative, honest and quality content (I need to up my game).
Most of my items sell for around $10 plus shipping (mostly clothing). I have a large walkout basement (which is only used as my work space) and my local Goodwill is pretty cheap (75% off sales mean I pay less than $2 for the majority of clothing items). America goes through a recession like every 10 years or so, and people cut back on more expensive items first. I’m still building up my inventory, but for me it is a more stable business model.
This was an extremely helpful explanation of the different business models and their relative advantages. It really helped me understand what I am doing and why it works when it works and why it sometimes seems as if it’s not working and then out of the blue seems to work for a bit. My business model, if you can call it that, has been to sell whatever I can find to sell that I can find cheap or free. This is largely due to Covid and the fact that I’m elderly and confined to home due to Covid and caretaking a spouse. This information helps me steer in a direction that may increase ROI. I truly appreciate your willingness to share, your intelligent presentation, your stellar vocabulary, and your erudition. You also helped explain why I have nights I cannot sleep because of flare ups in my chronic arthritis. I’ve always known I needed to take more breaks from the computer, but this helps me understand why. Please keep doing what you are doing, and don’t let the turkeys tie you down or make you defensive. You don’t need to engage.
Daily Refinement does look at what brands are selling and doesn't like to necessarily hold on to his inventory for a long period of time, but you did nail it as it's about volume. Technsports lists 250 items a day, and was doing that by himself apparently. Absolutely crazy the amount he and daily refinement, Chris, can list!! I myself struggle with 10 listings a day..lol. I've only been reselling for about a year and my processes still need much work. But you're right and I agree that there are many different business models and many different paths up the mountain. Whose to say that only one type is the only way, eh? I personally like the quick flip and have become much more cognizant of what brands and items that I pick up. I have fibromyalgia so I really feel you on how it can be rather challenging sitting in front of the computer (or phone) and listing or etc...I appreciate your channel and the knowledge you have to give. Thanks! It's not easy putting yourself out there and you'll always have some people that will want to piss on your parade.. 🙂
Its so good to zoom out and just think about the big issues. I sell books and I've been going for the high volume approach because I was just trying to start, but you've got me thinking!
I’m actually really glad that you brought that up and put that challenge out there for us to make an examination of those very things that you just mentioned. I find myself in a unique position of people giving me lots and lots of stuff. It varies from hard goods to books to mall brand clothing. I’m a single person who has no real obligations, my children live out of state so I find myself working a great deal. I have a regular 9 to 5 and then after hours I do my reselling, also dabbling in a couple of other small businesses. I felt like it made more sense for me to sell everything that has been given to me first. Or at the very least have it all listed and after that invest in items that I am knowledgeable about. I used to be a commercial seamstress and tailor and while I know a bit about brands I have not nearly done the research you have. I do some research one on thrift thing but not a lot otherwise. Thank you so much for creating the manifesto. I bought you a couple of cups of coffee today and printed that out so that I can look over it for a trip this coming up. I live on the East Coast and I’ll be spending two weeks in the Colorado Springs area hanging out with my grandsons when they get out of school. That’s going to leave me all day to hit their thrift stores. You came along at the right time because I’m going to try and find some of the items that you have researched. I have an schedule so that I can experience another part of the countries thrift offerings! Oops so sorry so long.
You threw me when you said synovial fluid...I’m thinking “he’s got a medical background” then I realized you knew for the same reason I know...P A I N...I’m so sorry...I was fortunate to be able to heal my issue...I’ll keep you in my prayers... Onto business...LOVE YOUR VIDEOS! Learn something each time I watch...thanks!
Sell thru rate of an item is important but it isn't everything. There are plenty of saturated brands with low sell thru rates. A lot of these listings have bad photos, titles, and descriptions. It is relatively easy for a pro to come in and put volume to these brands with quality listings and have a good PERSONAL sell thru rate with them.
I liked seeing you found Dr. Seuss books... Every child needs to have memories of them... You can always save them for when you have a little one of your own 😌
I don’t think it’s wise for anyone to criticize in print when someone as well spoken as you has such a great platform for rebuttal. I never realized I had to define my business model to be the kind of success I want to be. You are correct. We all have limitations and reasons for doing what we do. Personally, when I stop having fun I will quit.
Such a great video. Sometimes I myself one of the worst eBay sellers, especially when I compare myself to others. Like you, I have a chronic pain condition and most days my stamina is just not where I’d like it to be. Still, I make enough money to pay all bills and have a little extra. I think your model gives people another method to consider. I’ve actually applied some of your ideas to hard goods and have had rapid sales from it. There will always be critics out there but I encourage you to keep doing and sharing what works for you. Some of us are listening.
Hey Matt I’ve been following you and Ricky from Thrift Fever and I have mixed both your business models to obtain my own with considerable success. I’m a part time clothing reseller with an inventory of 800 items, working an average of 25 hours per week and On 2020 I reached a mid 5 figures on gross sales with 50% net profit. Thank you for sharing your knowledge!
I have chronic pain also from 32 years of beating the shit out of my body at work. Listing, and even thrifting unfortunately, can definitely be difficult when I'm having a bad day. Dont worry about what other people say. You should always do what works best for you 🙂
Matt I started selling antiques, then vintage and now vintage clothing. These have all been long terms. Well I'm tired of it. So I've been listening to you. Keep up the good work. We need the different views. Thanks
I’ve been selling about as long as you, and I can tell you there is NO way I’m wasting all those hours listing crap. To each their own, but I follow your model as best I can. It’s just efficient 🤷♀️
Side comment, I fee that many channels push for you to list everyday and personally, I would pick up items (even small profit items) to be able to keep up. As much as I do see the upside in sales, I feel that you work harder and end up with tons of items that may or don’t sell fast enough creating a different problem, storage! If you are working part time and/or have limited space such as in my case, adapting to a fast str style would be highly recommended.
Hi Matt! Until I found your videos I didn’t have much of a strategy and would pick up items based on brand/style but never really focused on str and many of my items would sit for ages. I am now more aggressive with checking str and will leave anything that is not at least 50% str. Keep up the great work, it’s appreciated!
Great Content as always. I loved this video because you talk about the stuff that nobody thinks about. Personally I can't get past 600 listings. I've been listening intently to people such as yourself over the past year and I'm getting to that point where I've been worrying like can I handle all this? Early on I never thought I'd be in the omfg I'm getting so busy I don't know if I can keep up stage. But I'm here. I was listening to all the people saying you gotta have a million items in your store early on. While that works for some people that's not for me. I've been following exactly what guys like Matt say and tunneling in on the better brands and I'm here to say once you start doing that you don't need a billion listings. Especially by yourself its impossible. Anyway from 1 full time reseller who's about a year behind where you are Matt thank you so much for all the knowledge you provide. Not just what brands to buy but touching on business models is so important and like I say in every comment in your clips you're by far my favorite reseller on TH-cam and it's not even close. Thanks again keep up the great work.
You're highly analytical and logical. You're fortunate to be able to think for yourself, so you don't have to accept any one approach as always being the best. You consider how different factors impact individual situations. That's why your videos are so interesting and why you provide such helpful information. You're not just spewing facts that could change the next day. The people who are succeeding in this arena are always scanning the environment and revisiting their operations, just as you said. Your critic may want to think about that.
There is a reason that people are self employed and for everyone choosing to work for them selves they are given the freedom of choosing what business model or style works for them and their family and their financial needs. I started the side hustle to pay for 3 surgeries my husband and I had in 2020. I am happy to say I was able to pay off the remaining $326.36 we owed this morning by selling men's jeans on eBay. Now I am saving for a new computer and I would like to go on a real vacation. I have 250-300 items listed at any given time and that is what is working for me right now. Matt, I like your style and thank you for the information you share
Thank you for your videos. I am a only one year into reselling and am learning everyday. Sell through was a huge lesson for me. I don't want a huge store. I want to be peaceful and enjoy my business. To hell with the haters, knowing it all leaves you unteachable.
Once again great information, eloquent speaker, really really enjoy your content. I come away with something of value in my own journey of reselling. Thanks so much!
First of all, thank you for all of the knowledge you drop. I've only been reselling a short while but I made the decision early in the game that if it ever turns into something that I no longer enjoy, I'm done. I do what works for me. Period.
Matt, your such an awesome dude! Every time I watch your videos I say...”this dude is brilliant.” You have great personality, great info. With sincerity and honesty. Just be you! Take care yourself for yourself and run your business for you! Btw- I went to USD. My first mgmnt job was at May Co in Mission Valley mall in late 80’s. Please tell me Robertos is still around!! Yum! Heard Horton plaza was torn down??
Is it weird that I want to buy you a cup of coffee and go thrift with you. Thank you for sharing your knowledge and humor. Your video regarding where you used to work especially resonated with me. Glad to see that you chose to be happy.
Forget that Troll.your correct.there is "many"business models.Trolls should keep to their own bridge until someone's wants to cross it.thanks for sharing how you run your business. 👍
I think everyone’s business strategy is fascinating. I love hearing them all. Anyone who criticizes someone else’s approach is simply close-minded. I’m trying to work out my own model. Whatever I come up with will be uniquely mine (more or less).
Don’t listen to people like that! There is no one way to do anything in reselling! I have been reselling part-time for over 20 years and I have learned so much from you. You are helping people! I live with chronic pain too and the photos are the hardest for me. Just ignore people who make snarky comments that you were doing it wrong because that is just untrue! You don’t have to explain yourself to them. Keep on doing what you’re doing!
You are so right! I've learned so very much from you, and I think that your honest approach speaks volumes. Matt, just keep doing what you're doing. The HELL with those naysayers. Their problem is their huge ego! I have Cervical Spinal Stenosis, so I understand both your pain situation and the inability to do certain things because of neck pain. Please, take care of yourself.
Im a 23 year full time reseller. Ive changed my business model quite a bit over the years but have found my way pretty good none the less. I sell in a couple of categories. My biggest is ephemera. I list high and wait. I have tens of thousands of items in this category. My other categories i quick flip. I do alot of kitchen stuff, small appliances, and some electronics. These categories i only sell higher dollar items. So im not going to mess with a 30 dollar vcr. But i would over 100. But i still sell these items cheaper than most. Almost Every business model seems to work if seen through. Just got to stick with it. Execute the plans. Great video!
You were so kind to that clown! He was unreal! This is a better business model for most people! After he was challenged with the fact that there are many other highly profitable approaches to reselling and that he was being a jerk, he deleted his comments. I am glad he finally slithered away. Nothing will change the fact that great sales come from great sourcing. Great sourcing comes from solid research. Thank you for speaking your truth and helping us to build better reselling businesses. You're the best!
well SAID! MANY business models exist that can work and many reasons for choosing a particular one. Those who claim THEIR choice is 'better' or the ONLY way are to be ignored.
Chad Ronnie Pete are the OGs of reselling. They do their thing, share their knowledge, stay in their own lane. Must say I see that same mindset in you. Glad Chad & Kim will be sharing again soon. Your business model is what works for you, your area, and let's face it you gotta pay the bills so do you, smile at the trolls (you gotta be doing something right for them to take the time to put in their 2 cents ! ) Your packing your videos with buque quality info people can grab what they need and move along . . . hey was that a TWD reference ? TFS 👍💪👊
I have just found your channel this past week and am quickly learning a lot about your business model just through the other videos. I sell mostly hard goods and vintage/ antiques, but your decision-making processes and business model are in line with where I want mine to be. Thank you for the thoughtful comments and down to earth content you put into each video.
Matt I greatly appreciate your content, insights and presentation style. While I have not watched all of your videos, I can say the half way point is soon to be reached. As to business model selection, it should be intuitively obvious to anyone thinking of starting a business selling online whatever approach they choose needs to be congruent with them. It has to fit their lifestyle and the environment they occupy. If you want to build a multi-employee multi-thousand square foot empire great, go for it. But as you rightly illustrate, you need to be aware of the problems endemic to that choice. Likewise if you want to be the top shelf/top margin limited inventory seller there are agonies and ecstasies associated with that choice. Sourcing for any online seller is routinely a challenge. Your data driven approach to sourcing IMHO is the only rational choice. The random walk of inventory selection with no clear sell-through rate targets leads to a subtle form of hoarding. Aka "the death pile".
Thank you for showing new resellers that you can do this without having to store 3000 pieces. I watch a lot tubers and I take advice that would fit my agenda. Sell thru rate is great to know and practice. Thanks and keep giving us advice
Thank you for your videos! I kept hearing "sell thru rate" but you are the only one who explained it a d said what is should be to buy an item! I have recently left things at the thrift store because of you sharing your knowledge. I personally would like to sell 5 things for $100 each, the have to sell 25 things at $20 to make $500! Buy low sell high! Anyone who doesn't like your business model should just not watch you anymore...people are so rude these days! Maybe he is jealous? Anyway, thank you again for another informative video!
Tons of ways to do reselling. 2 years ago I did Storage units, Flea market, different types of pallets, auctions, wholesale, retail arbitrage, and thrift stores. Try stuff and different models until you find out what sticks and you enjoy the most.
Thank you for sharing your perspective of the different business models. I do run a high-volume style of a clothes store and totally agree that it does take a long time for the sales to catch up. I would say 8 to 12 months for sales to show a good enough return on buying. We are very lucky to have a good source of product that we never pay more than $1 per piece. This makes the time to sell a lot easier on our pocket. Thanks for all of your info. Keep it up.
There is nothing wrong with your business model. You have to work with what’s available in your area and cost of goods. Thanks for all of your helpful videos.
The Salvation Army stores near me had 69 cent sales every Saturday (pre-Covid). My original business model was buy anything I might be able to sell for $3 or more, thinking it would still have a reasonable profit margin. The listing, the inventory storage, the sheer amount of work involved became overwhelming. Fast forward - you were the first you tuber I personally found that explained sell through rate in a simple, coherent way. I’m now selling my SA items at swap meets for $1 a piece, still make some profit, and only list my high sell through items. I had an “ah-ha DUH!” moment where I realized that I could list one better quality, high sell through item as opposed to 3-4 lesser “volume listing” items. Saved significant amounts of my precious time, while increasing profit and reducing stress. Thank you, sir, for your wonderful and real content. For me, your video content has been life-changing. No exaggeration.
Just found your channel, I think someone from daily refinement referenced you in the comments? Lol..actually people that are so closed minded and can't see past the end of their own nose are annoying. To each their own! L&LL... Thanks for your awesome inspiration and insight, people like you are a rare find in the world 🌎 I appreciate you taking the time to share your knowledge 😊
Love your videos. Its true here in Maine. Goodwill here has a Handpicked items like a corner of vintage/antiques. Your video of men's shirts to buy. Goodwill prices them of $10.00 and way up!!! Really can't source at Goodwill here for profit. So hard to source here. I'm just sources right now. Was excited to get started. Now I'm in a mind set that maybe I can't make good money here. Sorry about that viewer that put you down. Some people get off by putting people down. Makes them feel so right. You have more people that support you and respect your knowledge for teaching us all.
Nothing wrong with your model, I have been selling since 2003, off and on- and full time since 2013 while being a stay at home dad. Its what works for you-
Can’t decide what is more impressive; your flipping skills or your vocabulary. 🤔🤔🤔
Agreed!!!! He’s a great motivational speaker ✌️✌️✌️
I knew the universe put you in my path for a reason -I have a chronic pain disorder, as well. Love, love, love your corpus of knowledge!
Finally found a well read, articulate, and serious reseller. You have by sub and my attention.
Thank you, welcome to the channel
You are such a kind & humble person Matt! Thank you for all the knowledge you share with us. 😊
Thank you Dana
@@ThriftALife I love your content here in NJ no one thrifts shirts are 1-2 across the board.
loved this conversation.
The vocabulary comment is exactly what I said in another comment. Very impressive and inspiring.
I can't believe I didn't think of sell through, just comps. I'm so glad I found your channel!
Aww don't be upset and ignore those people. The rest of us love you and all the knowledge you share
Thank you Kris, I got slightly extremely pissed off but have evened out.
Thank you for this thoughtful and reassuring response.
Thank-you!
Matt
Sorry to hear about your pain.
100% Positive Support to You!!
Thank you, I appreciate that.
This is the kind of video that the new reseller need, thank you so much for be clear and honest with you audience. I just subscribed to you channel and I don’t regret at all!!!!!!
Thanks, and welcome to the channel.
Well said Matt!! Quality means doing it right when no one is looking!
Golden finger picker, pinching pesos, and Hart Pickers were some of the very first You Tubers I ran into a few years ago when I started out, and needed info on what I was getting into.😊✌
I miss Deb from Pinching Pesos
So rude! /s
I definitely do things differently than I did 2 years ago.
I am a fairly new reseller (4 months!)
And I am really learning from you. Thank you!
I personally have been doing my business model like the Carmax’s. ( i used to be sales consultant there)
A nice price range. All decent quality and a few luxury items. I focus on great customer service and it’s been working great for me!
Keep up the great videos! I’m truly learning a lot 🙂👍🏼
Watching and learning from you, has helped my sales. You are a great teacher. Thank you.
I concur. I subsist on finding things that move quickly. This has taken 2 or 3 years to figure out. Easy to photograph is another criteria for selecting inventory. Time is money. I am enjoying your content. Thank you!
California is tough. Ugh 🤦🏽♀️ I’m learning. You are huge help! Thank You
Don't let comments bring you down or ruffle your feathers too much.
Love not live stupid phone keyboard.
I don’t understand a lot of your big words but I like what you have to say. I’m entertained and I enjoy learning from you. Cheers!
Also, my business model is similar to yours. I would rather buy $100 of video game equipment that sells for $200 in a few hours and with 3 listings than buy AE jeans for $.75 and sell them for 9.95 + ship 40 times.
He has a wonderful vocabulary, and I enjoy hearing some of the words he uses (and will look some of them up sometimes too!) so I am learning business and language skills at the same time. lol
@@kay4732 🙌🙌🙌
@@kay4732 LOL me too. So cool
Thank you for the pair of coffees, hope the Manifesto brings you good fortune on your thrift travels.
Really good job describing the 2 business models! What's right for one may not be right for another. Thank you for pointing that out!
I had to listen to this twice because it is deep and right on. I am a new reseller and learn daily. Thanks for the insightful video.
Period.
Wow, what insight. I had to listen a second time to give my full undivided attention. I really enjoyed this talk.
Glad it was helpful
Thank you Jessica, and sorry to hear you're in pain as well. Makes everything harder.
Thank you for sharing your personal struggle and you are not alone. So glad I found your channel
Thank you for your wisdom and sage advice!
These videos are so helpful. Also makes me occasionally goto my dictionary for a new word, which is always great. Thanks so much
You were so kind to that clown!
You are awesome! Such good points from all angles. Appreciate the value, your intellect and logic.
AaaaaaaMen brother!! 100% agree! I love your insights! Too bad some can be so narrow, but I applaud you 😀👍👏👏
The Salvation Army stores near me had 69 cent sales every Saturday (pre-Covid).
Wow, Susan, I'm glad to be of such help to you. It was an ah-ha moment for me too.
Thank you Lisa, appreciate everything you said. Welcome to the channel.
We appreciate you, and all the info you share! Your videos are the best!
You have the best you tube channel and you are very honest. And you are very knowledgeable. Good luck for you business and your health.
Nothing wrong with your model, I have been selling since 2003, off and on- and full time since 2013 while being a stay at home dad. Its what works for you-
