- This is a reconstruction from 3 separate vhs masters to provide the most complete showing of the Giants 14-7 victory in Denver from 1989. TH-cam made mute out the sound for a commercial. Enjoy, I have a few more reconstructions I will be doing soon.

Perfect call on a classic game. Today’s NFL announcing teams fall far short of Pat & John.
When the NFL and America was great
Exactly I always relate the fall of America with what sports is doing right now it's nothing but a bunch of soft pansies that want to cry racism and victimhood as they're making $40 million a year it's hard to even watch this was when America was great if people want to know when they say make America great again or whatever when was America great right here 1989 America was great we were at our peak there was no racial problems nobody talked about this stuff in sports it was not even an issue and now that's all you hear about is race this race that discrimination is discrimination that I can't stand it nobody's discriminate against anybody unless it's white people get discriminated against but this was awesome
Also this was when the AFC was like the JV League to the NFC to this day because they lost those 14 super bowls in a row I always think of the AFC as inferior to the NFC even though now they're basically equal lol I have never been able to shake that because I grew up with the AFC being so weak and they weren't actually weak at the top because the Buffalo bills were awesome they just for some reason couldn't win those games but they were an awesome football team but those bronco teams were basically just John elway against the other 53 players that's why they got killed lol
I think Minessota or Rams could be in several superbowls if they were in the AfC

I actually watched this entire game the same way I did when it came on that Sunday in 1989, real grass, snow, good solid tackling, etc. That was football boy!!🏈
Boy how I miss those days
As a kid, these games were an amazing treat on Sundays. I remember waiting the whole week and being so excited just to watch Giants games.

Oh… and I remember getting John Elway Football for NES the following June in ‘89 for my 11th birthday. But even by NES standards, the game kind of sucked… but still a memorable classic, nontheless

This was great. I even enjoyed watching the commercials. It’s a time that will never be experienced again. When America and football were awesome. The best two announcers ever!!

Portable heaters on the sidelines and the World Trade Center in the picture for the New York Football Giants players.
That really captures the time and era perfectly.
As a Giants fan, when it snows like that in Denver, blizzard like conditions, it's extremely hard to not only win,but to play in.

What a launch!!! Unfortunately, these days that would be a 15-yard penalty and possible ejection for leading with the crown. This was real football!!

Watching these old games from the 80's and comparing to today's league, it's almost like watching 2 different sports. The style of play is so different. The NFL was such a run heavy-play action pass-stop the run, league back then.
It was more run oriented (this is 89 but it REALLY got moreso 1990-1993) but still back then it felt more balanced than todays video game track meet NFL that's trying to phase out big hitting
With so many people watching RedZone on Sundays, the notion of legendary announcers like Pat and John kinda goes by the wayside.
Madden and pat always the best man.
Giants D always had their A game and John Elway laser passes impresive havent seen something like him since

Fantastic TD run after the short pass from Simms, Megett had a ton of them his rookie year (1989). Several punt return touchdowns, runs from scrimmage, pass receptions. Him and Eric Metcalf of Cleveland both similar players and both having great rookie seasons in 89.

I was home sick from Church for this game. I slept through most of it. It's just as well. The Broncos would have made me sicker.
Ah, this was one game when Elway couldn't pull off one of his patented comebacks late in the fourth quarter. Kay almost caught the ball for the TD!
Wow, those GIANTS teams made me feel good about myself as a fan.
Why does the games feel more exciting than today?
Love the Reasons hit of course, but that punt and tackle by Thompson at the end of game I also have not forgot about.
This game was a lot of fun to be at, even with the L. Can't say that about many losses.

Denver played the Giants tough for 2 1/2 games between 86 and 89. 86 regular season Denver lost by 3 on a last second FG this game and people forget Denver was up 10 9 at half in SB 21. It was only the second half of the Super Bowl where Denver got blown out.
Uniforms were great
In hindsight (which is 20/20 of course), the Giants should've taken the safety after the Reasons' hit. By punting out of the end zone, they gave the Broncos great field position and therefore their only TD of the game.

Games like this just give the lie to the idea that the Broncos and Bills etc. didn't win Super Bowls because they didn't play good defense. They just met teams that were that much better. This Denver defense got lit up for 55 points in the Super Bowl that year.
The NFC SB win streak was insane

Exactly. My wife and I were married earlier that afternoon in Queens. I put the game on in the limo on the way back to our apartment in Brooklyn after my wife dozed off. We are happily married 33 later

John Madden was right again. The Giants gained 113 rushing yards and won.
Simms was a great QB when the other team had no pass rush.
