David rapidly changing the topic to a food he loves while he internally stews about forgetting he went on James podcast, only to have James gleefully recite that he also remembers the food David spoke about on the podcast episode David forgot he was on is.... Chefs kiss 1:00:43
I've heard James talk about his show on a bunch of podcasts, but it's so good how immediately open and honest he is here, an not surprised at all at David's understanding and advice. This episode is the tragedy of comedy in 1 hour and 20 minutes, and I am so glad it exists
"The Elephant Graveyard" is the channel James is talking about and the video is "Burn the Boats is the funeral for joe rogan's comedy career" I believe. He is correct its a great take down of that just awful special and rogan in general. Awesome channel.
Im such a huge fan of James' comedy and view on the world. love y'alls take on the ongoing comedian-turn-fake-philosopher discourse that has been going on for ages. It's so refreshing to listen to people not be complete hypocrites about freedom of speech, edge-lord BS.
Cross forgetting he'd been on Off-Menu - one of the biggest podcasts in the world - and then getting completely flustered and off-balance is exactly what I wanted to see.
@stevedixon8567 david floundered a bit out of embarrassment. As much as he's a kooky comedian he's a real earnest dude. Could feel him wishing he just hadn't said that in a real personal and human way
I was just searching for longer format James interviews, that weren't about menu items, after his Rob Brydon interview. Glad this was realized. Looking forward to watching the new hour
He's also recently been in Comedy Bang Bang! (audio), RHLSTP (audio) and Mashable (TH-cam), if you want to check those. He was also in How did this get made?, but that wasn't an interview
james is just a gift of a personality and david is so effortlessly funny.... there was a moment there where they let their comedy intelligence play with each other .. hope these two hang out more and get some flow together
I swear never clicked faster for a video.!! So glad james is in the US doing interviews Mt fav comic ever! I hope hes on smartless, seth meyers and more podcasts soon!!
I was on the last train from Birmingham to London once and Lionel Richie had done a gig in Northampton. Everyone on the train was singing and having a great time. I thought to myself 'does Lionel Ritchie not know he's famous? He could sell out wembley if he wanted.' No offence to James but I got the impression that was the best thing to have happened in Northampton for a very long time...
Comics have to try new material. When we hear James jokes it's after he has worked them out. But I take your meaning, I think he's funny even when he bombs on British quiz shows and talk shows
James is the best. He introduced me to taskmaster and therefore to modern british comedy. He is incredible. RIP sean lock. and no matter who reads this check out Sarah millican. Best comic from UK in my opinion, as most say women aren't funny, she has me reaching for new underwear every show. Thanks James. LEGEND.
I fully watched this for James Acaster, no idea who David Cross is, but mostly enjoyed his hosting ... not an Ed Gamble level podcaster but pretty enjoyable
David Cross has some quality stand up specials. Also did a sketch comedy show called Mr Show. All are worth checking out along with his other tv work. Great stuff if you enjoy his style
@@petersotherland9230 just thought I'd try out some Scandinavian style heckling ... I did enjoy the interview and enjoy listening to comedians talk comedy so I will sure to catch some more of his stuff when the algorithm provides!
I know David Cross, but didn't know he had a podcast. He is mostly a comedian and actor. He had a sketch show with Bob Odenkirk called Mr. Show, and he was in Arrested Development among other things.
I laughed at 34:33 when David asks if James drinks during the show and James talks about not being drunk on stage very much and David's like "no not DRUNK, just do you drink on stage?". Proper UK US divide there, because whenever we drink in the UK, we get DRUNK because we don't know how to stop. A completely alien concept to drink and stop BEFORE you get drunk.
I actually remember that Off Menu episode David did with James and Ed. I very rarely listen to podcasts falling asleep, but that was one of them. You don't forget about the poutine.
I was very surprised to see the Greensboro: Loudest City in NC shirt on David Cross. I would love to hear his story about acquiring it, plus any details of his time spent in my rowdy hometown. People generally don’t want to visit twice.
Please do more conversations like James! Bunch of great comedy in Great Britain. Folks like Greg Davies, Russell Howard, Sarah Millican, and many, many others would be great to see more long-form interviews with.
Obviously I can't speak for all Scandinavians but I think we just don't want to "interrupt" the show with laughter and stuff... Which obviously is a bit stupid. Just think it's ingrained in us. So we save the laughter and applause for the end of the show!
It cracked me up that he was skeptical of James' experience with rude New Yorkers, while being actively rude to him. Real Garfield "wonder who that's for" hours
David interrupting James to explain stuff to James that James already has considered and is in the middle of a thoughtful rebuke of on the back of lived experience and the philosophy of his show. Christ, every time I think I like a guest enough to suffer David Cross, his hydra heads of insufferability prove me wrong. Incredible comedy performer and writer. Arrogant and uninsightful in every conversation I've tried to get through.
Older people tend to have that view on cats, as a result of mainly seeing incompetent cat ownership. Thankfully nowadays cat owners take better care of their pets than 40-50 years ago when litter boxes or spaying wasn't common. Of course those households smelled

I audibly gasped when I saw the thumbnail for this. Instant watch. The more James, the better.

My kid is asleep. So I inaudibly gasped.
@alexstone66 also acceptable
My exact reaction😍
Love that James is getting more known in the US. Hope he gets a spot on Conan's podcast soon.
Oh my god can you even imagine those minds together
Would be funny seeing as his first American gig was bombing on Conan
I would love it if Conan had him on and they could figure out which taco truck ruined James's insides.
I think that all the time! I thought it today, actually! 🥺😱
Yup it's taken forever over here but I'm excited he's starting to get established

James Acaster with American comedians is a dream come true for me
At 43:26, I'm very sure James is referring to the Elephant Graveyard video, which is real good
Was literally just trying to find what he was referring to
Thanks.

James telling David that he lives in Times Square and it is his neighborhood cracked me up.
Cross forgetting he'd been on Off-Menu - one of the biggest podcasts in the world - and then getting completely flustered and off-balance is exactly what I wanted to see.
He was flustered for the rest of the interview. And Acaster handled it beautifully.
Yeah I felt the interview ended a bit awkwardly but maybe they were both getting tired.
It felt like David got really embarrassed, and that just made him spiral but as you said James handled it with real class.
I legitimately lost my breath. Admittedly I'm a bit high but fuck lol..
