Sorry to dispel a bit of a myth here. You can not really reverse engineer an orignal stereo recording into a Dolby Atmos sound track. That requires over processing the orginal soundtrack. The only way way Dolby Atmos recordings will work is if there are multiple microphones around to record the sound from multiple places. That is how it works in movies. This spatial sound thing is all "hype". You are better off listening to the orignal soundtrack from a decent streaming service such as Tidal or Qobuz which goes back to the original master tapes. You will find the results surprising, and actually more surprising than some sort of over processed version of it using so called intelligent software.
@@colinhoward2200 Hi Colin, reverse-engineering, over-processing through intelligent software would degrade it, I'm with you on that point. 1) There is a quadraphonic mix of Pink Floyd DSotM originally done by Alan Parsons. There is also a 5.1 channel surround mix by James Guthrie released in SACD format in 2003 (by the way, none of which is found on Tidal which I am subscriber of in recent years). Thus, it's not about creating a DSotM Dolby Atmos mix out of 2-channel stereo. 2) You may interpret spatial audio / Dolby Atmos as "hype" and inferior to the "stereo" of yesteryears; I suggest let's not have this baseless "typical audiophile" standpoint. I have now listened through majority of published Apple Music tracks in Dolby Atmos through a pair of modest AirPods Pro (not even lossless / ALAC); one superior quality easily audible is the instrument/voice separation (imaging and layering). @@TheRealBlueStrawberry Incorrect mate. I have the Sonos Arc, Sub and One SL surrounds.. spatial audio works via an Apple TV 4K box (both first and second gen). Edit: I’m the one who is incorrect.
@@Licks61SG Dolby Atmos is to do with the '3D audio' and the format which enables sounds to be placed all around the room in the mix of the music which you will be able to hear through your speakers. Spacial Audio is when you can move your head and the artist's voice is tracked to sound like they're singing in the same position/in front of you in your headphones - which can obviously not really be implemented into a speaker setup.

There is an important element no one is talking about... Music is NOT spacial in the same way Sound for Picture is. When you see an incredible live musical performance, 99% of the time (The only example I can think of where this is not he case, is in a hall where the choir is on a balcony above and behind the audience) all sound is coming from right in front of you. An 80 piece orchestra fills a hall in an incredible way, but the percussion elements don't come from behind you. A 4-6 piece rock band punches you right in the face and a pop ballad hugs you in a way that feels great but still, more like a hyper-cardioid polar pattern. Now sound for picture, spatial audio totally makes sense. If you see a train moving on screen, the audio spatial cue makes absolute sense to move in the same way that the visual is. But a train shuffle played on the drums would sound weird constantly moving about. As a recording engineer, studio owner and a person whose whole life revolves around music, my brain just doesn't get it I guess. In movies totally... In music... just why? Just to buy more equipment, charge the client and consumer more and all for something that IMHO think will be short lived.
20:27 - Yes, possibilities are opening up immensely, but the human imagination is infinite. We will always come up with ideas that surpass our technology, for ever.
There IS a difference, however I feel like i'm not getting the full spatial audio experience because: 1) there's no animation on the spatial audio logo in the airpod settings in control center, something that denotes that spatial audio is actually running. 2) moving my head around does nothing to change the sound And certain songs, like some beatles songs just sound weird. You can hear a flanging effect going on that I imagine is a product of the time delay effect that is needed to make the audio sound like its coming from different positions relative to your head.
Wait wait wait haha 3D audio and Spatial is something completely different. On the pros (I have em too) 3D Audio what you enable in your Control Center is for MOVIES so when you look on a Apple 3D MOVIE you can move your phone around and it will sound like where your phone is and spatial audio is just Dolby Atmos it’s COMPLETELY different. It’s how the music is made for example mono-black white analogTV. Stereo-Color digital TV. ATMOS- 4K 3D Digital flatscreen. So if you put a old movie on a 4K display it looks kinda strange too sometimes but think about all new 4K releases they look gorgeous. (BTW I swear the standard Apple wired headphones sound waaaay better with this than the pros. Much wider sound.)
@@wullapwullap6270 Well, what you enable on the control center is literally called "spatial audio." That's why I was confused when I was listening to apple music's spatial audio playlist and I COULD hear the atmos/3D/spatial audio effect but It didn't come with the head tracking. I think it might just be a choice of apple to do this? idk.
@@wullapwullap6270 also i've watched TENET on my phone with spatial audio and it's amazing, but moving my phone around does nothing. Head tracking works, but nothing changes when I move my phone.
Dolby atmos is available on every headphone and Spatial Audio on only Airpods Pro and Max. What it is doing is that if you have turned it to always on and you are suing Pro or Max dolby atmos tracks will play in Atmos but regular stere tracks will play in spatial audio trying to simulate atmos. that is why some songs are being heard muffled or not good.
Y’all remember Quadraphonic used to be a thing that was going to replace stereo? Although all the different companies having their own hardware and implementation eventually killed it. Let’s see what the next generation of 4 or 6 channel audio can be.
SOMEONE PLEASE POST, ON TH-cam SOME OF APPLES SPATIAL AUDIO SONGS FOR US TO HEAR. OR AT LEAST A SNIPPET OF THEM. THE PROPER SPATIAL AUDIO ONLY PLEASE. NOT THE 3D OR 8D ETC.
Can Mac let you play Spatial Audio on Airpods Max? Mines are up to date and yet my MacBook says Spatial Audio is not available on Airpods Max for no reason 😢
Apple, listening to this on my main audio system via ATV 4K and I must say it is pretty inspiring. Now, give us something besides Airplay connectivity to sources such as BluOS, PlayFi, etc so we can enjoy your Masters files in full resolution on something besides headphones. Please.
Do I need a certain update and/or certain headphones for this to work? I have regular airpods and it shows the spatial audio thing in my apple music, but i feel like i’m not hearing it???
Surround sound for music? What's the point? Sorry to sound pessimistic but I just don't see the reasoning behind. Most people listening to music are using headphones or another setup that won't really be capable or producing this sound. It would still be cool to hear Dolby atmos music
YESSS TO ME TOO IT SOUNDED HORRIBLE!!! the tracks aren’t loud as the lossless audio tracks Im listening both in my Powerbeats Pros and bose QC35ii and the dolby atmos version sounds worse than the lossless With dolby atmos (spatial audio) the voice of the artists sound less loud and muffled and has a lot of echo like if you were in a theater and the bass sounds way more hard With lossless the songs sound better than normal because I noticed the sounds the tracks hide stand out more without loosing clarity of the track
@@gvbriotv8535 I listened on my AirPods Pro and I had a similar experience. But I think that most songs originally weren’t recorded with this technology in mind, so hopefully in the future the quality will improve.

Why Dolby Atmos and Lossless audio in Apple Music hasn't been launched in India??
Steve Jobs drip go hard I want that orange beanie
There IS a difference, however I feel like i'm not getting the full spatial audio experience because:
1) there's no animation on the spatial audio logo in the airpod settings in control center, something that denotes that spatial audio is actually running.
2) moving my head around does nothing to change the sound
And certain songs, like some beatles songs just sound weird. You can hear a flanging effect going on that I imagine is a product of the time delay effect that is needed to make the audio sound like its coming from different positions relative to your head.
@ no I do have 14.6 installed. I still don't get the things I mentioned though.
Ah and look in your Settings/Music than under Dolby Atmos toggle it on if it’s on automatic. And toggle Lossless sound on.
Finally lossless audio. THANK YOU
Is Spatial Audio on Apple Music only on AirPods Pro and AirPods Max?
It's on any dolby atmos supported headphones, but AirPods have them
Dolby atmos is available on every headphone and Spatial Audio on only Airpods Pro and Max. What it is doing is that if you have turned it to always on and you are suing Pro or Max dolby atmos tracks will play in Atmos but regular stere tracks will play in spatial audio trying to simulate atmos. that is why some songs are being heard muffled or not good.
Built in speaker of iphone 11, 12 supported dolby atmos
Ambisonics: „Hold my beer“
Not yet released in iNdia
You killed my HomePod
Why is it not available in India yet!!??
iOS 15 allows you to spatialise audio in the AirPods settings to any audio
Y’all remember Quadraphonic used to be a thing that was going to replace stereo? Although all the different companies having their own hardware and implementation eventually killed it. Let’s see what the next generation of 4 or 6 channel audio can be.
Hey when we will get spatial audio in India
Why am I not getting it? 😭😭😭
Does it work in Android as well?
This is incredible.. thanks apple !!
When is this going to be available for Indian users BTW?
Apple, listening to this on my main audio system via ATV 4K and I must say it is pretty inspiring. Now, give us something besides Airplay connectivity to sources such as BluOS, PlayFi, etc so we can enjoy your Masters files in full resolution on something besides headphones. Please.
what is apples end game here? sell more headphones? new headohones? charge more for an apple music plan that includes atmos playback?
Does it work with Powerbeats pro
Please enable it in INDIA
It's still not available
I watched this with air pods on!
Do I need a certain update and/or certain headphones for this to work? I have regular airpods and it shows the spatial audio thing in my apple music, but i feel like i’m not hearing it???
Yes, we are just going to talk about music for half hour
Surround sound for music? What's the point? Sorry to sound pessimistic but I just don't see the reasoning behind. Most people listening to music are using headphones or another setup that won't really be capable or producing this sound. It would still be cool to hear Dolby atmos music
btw I still don't have this in my Apple Music
Will it supports for SE first generation ?
For those who want to hear LOSSLESS remember to not use bluetooth for the best experience
they should crank up the volume cos i literally have to play it at max
Blow your eardrums, it'll be very funny
It keeps saying this content doesn’t support spatial audio in the drop down menu even on songs that are in the playlist
When will it come to android??? 😅
DX-7. We were all there.
Release it in India.
This guy looks like he’s part of the life aquatic crew or the little guy from a radio head music video cartoon
Idk man. I listened to after hours and faith with Dolby atmos and then without.
The Dolby version sounded a little off.
YESSS TO ME TOO IT SOUNDED HORRIBLE!!! the tracks aren’t loud as the lossless audio tracks
Im listening both in my Powerbeats Pros and bose QC35ii and the dolby atmos version sounds worse than the lossless
With dolby atmos (spatial audio) the voice of the artists sound less loud and muffled and has a lot of echo like if you were in a theater and the bass sounds way more hard
With lossless the songs sound better than normal because I noticed the sounds the tracks hide stand out more without loosing clarity of the track
@@gvbriotv8535 I listened on my AirPods Pro and I had a similar experience. But I think that most songs originally weren’t recorded with this technology in mind, so hopefully in the future the quality will improve.
It sounds beautiful. All those extra parts coming out and unlocking more emotions
The new update is still not available in India. Can someone explain what’s happening around?
It is…search for Spatial audio
@@ronaldosapam8736 search in settings, that’s what you are trying to say?
@@shubhamarora8230 nahi. Open the apple music itself…then search for Spatial audio
And there’s a spatial audio category
@@ronaldosapam8736 but what about the dolby atmos and loseless on and off switch in settings?
Hello very important Question, I dont like Apple Music, but is there a other Platform to listen 3D Music with AirPods ? Iam a Fan of Spotify they dont have this offer, I just dont like to Layout and the Making off the Apple Music App.
Where else I can listen to this Dolby Atmos when I move my head that the music is different ?
I love this new Feature, but only know Apple Music with this Feature
Im not aware of any other streaming service even doing Atmos. Apple Music isn't just using Atmos, they are also using Spatial Audio, which is their own thing and very similar to surround sound for a movie. Apple Music is also cheaper than the other platforms and dont charge extra for lossless and Atmos. Worth every penny.
please explain why kiss me more by doja cat isn’t in spacial audio???
This is a blessing to my binaural beats
With AirPods Pro and HomePods, I can’t really hear any difference, what’s wrong ??
Same
Youll need more than 2 speakers to hear it. Go sit in your car.
@@whoopshey826 no the feature is not possible for Bluetooth
does apple music dolby atmos support beats by dre
Think so, it supports my Powerbeats
