Hey everyone, during this week's video, I set out to shoot some long exposures on Portra 800 with my Bronica GS-1. About halfway through the roll, things took a turn for the worse... Still was able to get some pretty sweet results out of Portra 800. I will definitely be shooting this film stock again in the future.

I can relate to the intention to quick-fix where you did something really stupid. As if you could just rewind time! This involves improvising some dirty hack and usually makes things even worse. But, hey: We all learn our lessons.

Dude , they definitely don't make things like they used to, and man, to be honest, using the glue and putting it away like you did, that's totally got me written all over it! I've done stuff like that, and said yeah, it'll be OK, famous last words!

Similar thing happened to my RB67 (wasn’t a dump truck but still a nasty drop onto concrete). There was a crack on the side of the chimney finder but everything still works perfectly.
They don’t build em like they used to!

I think what actually happened with your glue attempt was residue from drying. all purpose superglue leaves a thin matte film around it's surface as it reacts to oxygen, this is why I never use it around cameras. a two part apoxy like JB weld would've been better for the job. personally I wouldn't have glued it
Yeah could be. Either way pretty dumb of me to use glue. Oh well lol.

Great work dude :) Sorry to hear about the GS-1. I had a similar situation in my latest on location video in the UK. It didn't involve any gorilla glue though..
All good... it happens. And really? I will have to check it out! But yeah the gorilla glue turned out to be the fatal flaw in my master plan lol. Thanks for the comment!

literally feel your pain! lol i just recently got a mint af pentax auto 110 off craigslist from an older guy he was just giving away for free along with its accessories and also a mamiya 35mm slr but anyways was cleaning the auto 110 which i was so stocked about then decided to clean the mirror 🤦🏻♂️ which i seen had a few specks of dust i wanted to go away i blew my rocket blower in it got totally worse! and as i tried to clean my mistake it got even WORSE. to where i had to take it apart and clean myself which i did and was super proud for a minute! until i noticed that the focus had went off sum how? must of unscrewed sumthing wasn’t suppose to and by then was just over it trying to unscrew such a small camera was not fun! i eventually ordered a new one smh..
OH MAN hahah that is rough. Sorry to hear that! I have done that plenty of times where I see something very minor that needs to be cleaned then just end up making it worse... I think I’ve learned my lesson finally 😂

Never fix cameras with glue man ! so did you buy a new GS1 ? I have GS-1 cameras at home and a double set of 50-65-100-150-250mm lenses that I kept for my kids ! It's a very good medium format system
I ended up going with a Pentax 67 which I'm enjoying so far!
Brae Hunziker that's a great system too (I have one too !) the pentax 67 lenses are extremely sharp and well suited for portraiture
I just found an app: Reciprocity+. I tried to put your settings around 1:46 for an 800 speed film, and it gave me 3.6 seconds instead of what you chosed (4 secs)..
Yep that’s the app I use! You used color negative 800? That’s just the same chart as portra 400 so I’m not sure haha. My app also gave me 3.6 but it was just easier to select 4 seconds because that’s the closest shutter speed my camera offers haha. Appreciate the help though!

No good deed goes unpunished. Sorry for your loss. Go get a new one and move on. You still have your lenses and accessories and a new back and finder is not too expensive. At least you did not glue your lens onto the back, LOL. BTW, I have the same system and its a great camera.
