    Look at there now you can get 3-4 times more water in your filter before it let you know.

    Good video, I enjoy your work. Btw, Baldwin filters are made at the same plant and are identical to Cat filters, but about 20% cheaper because they don't have the Cat. name

    I have the bmp set as well, and also cleaned with brake cleaner and blew out all the ports. It’s a great setup, would like to see a little better cleanliness of burrs and metal particles. Someone who just throws shit together may have a problem?

    Im not sure if better or not but I see an adapter fuel filter kit manufactured by Fleece Performance on line that resembles the Black Market kit. They use a Donaldson filter which I hear is good quality also. Looks like Black Market and Fleece are the only ones that pop up. If you have any knowledge if Fleece is any good, it would be cool to hear. Thx

      I went to school to be a diesel mechanic. I know fleece is a big brand and they make great stuff. Can’t speak for this particular filter. And watch some vids on the CAT vs Donaldson filters. My opinion the CAT is the better filter. But that’s just my opinion. They will both surely do the job.

      @@linksgarage1985 cat does have great filters but the Donaldson filter that comes with the fleece filter head has a water separator. The cat filter in this video does not have water separation

      @@robertmilic7807 you are correct. The need for a water separator is only useful if you have water in your fuel. The major source of water in your fuel is filling up at stations that don’t frequently refill tanks. I fill up at a major truck stop that refuels almost daily. I have never needed the separator. But I am sure it is useful for someone. Thanks for watching. I appreciate it!

    My L5P had that same ticking noise at idle. I throw a couple bottles of rev x in with my oil changes seems to have made it quiet down quite a bit

      The clicking noise at idle is the high pressure oil pump I had a 2020 and now I have a 2021 they both did the same thing and I talked to my mechanic and it's not a problem it's just annoying

    Have you had any issues with your oil pressure going way high at start up??

      Yes. I think it’s normal. Was that way when it was brand new. 120psi when cold. Drop down to about 60 or so when hot.

    How are you liking this so far? Any problems with the Cat filter? I know there's no drain on the filter for it to drain water unlike the Donaldson filters...

    I have a 2019 long bed dually and there is an enormous amount more room to do this job up under there. Just did mine yesterday.

      @@linksgarage1985 Did you do the PPE double Deep external trans filter? Trying that one now. I have both the CAT fuel and oil filters and decided to do the PPE trans filter also.

      @@gmanbeavis - I sure did. Check out the vids on the channel. I’ve done lots you may be interested in. Here is the link to the PPE trans filter. I am also going to switch to the PPE oil filter. Same size as CAT, better filtration, no adapter needed, and it has the anti drain back valve to prevent dry starts.       @@linksgarage1985 yes I looked into the PPE oil filters, and I guess I read it wrong. I thought they had the same filtration as the CATS, but just with a bypass valve. They are significantly more expensive than the CATS.

    This is my first Duramax ever (but not my first diesel) and it’s an L5P with 6k on it. About 5kish plus or minus I noticed that it has like a big cam lope/shake at idle. Truck runs great and the lope/ shake takes me back to high school when I had a big block. So I don’t mine if the lope/shake is normal I just want to make sure it’s not a problem. My question if you and/or others on here know if it’s normal or not? Any information would be gratefully appreciated! Thanks in advance! Great video as well!

      Congrats on the rig! I have lots of L5P videos in the channel. From turbo piping, intakes, steps, exhaust, LEDs etc. might consider reviewing. As far as the lope/ shake is concerned. Mine has a slight shake. You can’t really feel it though. It’s more audible. Maybe some other guys in the comments can offer input. Thanks for watching I appreciate it!

Thank you sir for the reply. I’ve owned 5.9’s Cummins and a powerjoke which I traded it in for the Duramax and very impressed right now with the Duramax and 10 speed transmission.

    Wonder the plastic oem vs the aluminum how does it react in arsh winter.. i bought the small 3.0 duramax LM2 and it seems is the exact same, might fit without any change, do you find the cat to have a better filtration ? How about price ? I’m in Alberta so doing some mods to obtain better performance till a delete will be available Lol

      Yes. The CAT offers a finwr micron filtration. And it’s about 1/2 the price as OEM. Plus it’s a spin on. No need to remove a cover. And not sure about the aluminum covers. I would think you could spray it with WD40 and it should be good to go.

      Been about 8k miles. Will be doing a follow up next oil change. I’ll swap them then. Don’t drive it much so it may be a while. Today was the first day it was started since before Christmas! No complaints!

    Your banks cold air, can you tell any sound difference hear the turbo more?

      The Banks was replaced with a WC fab intake. You can really hear the turbo now. Should check some later videos on the channel. Lots done since this.

    Do you know if the Oem filter separates water and if not does the cat separate water

      Jaime - this may not be the correct response. But the main concern is getting Diesel with water in it to begin with. I go to a very high traffic truck stop that gets new diesel tanker loads daily. Rather than a small place that the diesel sits on the tanks for extended periods of time. I also have ran a fuel additive (hotshots secret EDT every single fill up since the truck was new) never had an issue. When I removed the factory setup, it had ZERO water in it. Hope this helps. I think there is an optional cat filter similar size with a build in petcock so you could drain it if you want to. Thanks for watching! Merry Christmas!

      NSWFFTP- Nothing negative to say! Haven’t changed the filter yet. Have quite a bit of life left. But truck has been doing great! Zero impacts to factory setup. No check engine lights etc. I love the less expensive and better quality filter option. And easier to change. Spin on!

      What about concerns with water separation. I know the factory fuel filter has the media for water separation. Does the cat fuel filter offer the same protection?

      Rewatched this and noticed that you left on the small Oring down by the tip of the water sensor, I also noticed while watching the BMP video that they removed the small Oring. Notice any anomalies?

      Well it doesn’t write to the factory ECM. So I would say no. I wouldn’t take it in for warranty work with it on. If I had to take it in I’d swap it out. But it’s not detectable. Thanks for watching!

      Other than unscrewing the factory filter, I’m not sure how to drain it.

      Quicker filter changes, less expensive filters than OEM (significantly) and 2 micron filtration vs OEM 10 micron filtration. Better filtration should promote extended injector and pump life.

    Why the filter and not the FASS system? Cost or no extra benefit?

      I didn’t do the FASS because the L5P comes factory with a lift pump. Factory fuel system and fuel injectors support very big HP numbers stock. So I just did filter upgrade. Didn’t see the need for my application. And I’ve had ZERO issues since. Thanks for watching!

    QC must be non existent. Machining isnt top notch either, Dull inserts on cutterhead and thread cutter. The devil is in the details as always. leaving thread burr is BS.

      Those burrs on the threads were there because they clearly over tightened the filter pulling so hard on the threads it pulled some metal off them.
