    The secret to rising in the morning and enjoying every moment is in this music. When one encounters stress play it over, then play it again as God helps you back to being yourself.

    So many beautiful lines in this piece. Bach is by far my favorite composer and this is my favorite rendition. You can see the raw emotion. Wow!

    Perfect performance, and that Fazioli is one really fine sounding piano. I'm a retired piano tuner, and I've always loved Steinways for their clarity of tone, and this Fazioli is right up there with the best Steinways as far as I can hear with good headphones and a Dell P.C.

    The evidence confirms that Bach owned dynamically diverse claviers and thus, intended for the nuanced emotional expression in his Clavier music (not marked for harpsichord for a reason...). So, I appreciate the strive to play Bach in emotionally engaging way and contrary to the absurd convention of emotional self-repression that Bach fought so passionately and fearlessly, even risking being thrown to jail, etc. The longevity of this false tradition is most remarkable maybe because of the fear that Bach still reflects reality so deeply. And this convention in our society is one of the most dangerous paradigms that is the root cause for so many societal calamities... So, I can forgive some lack of middle voice’s connectivity, and simply am simply sure that it can be shaped more consistently, once the awareness is raised about the blind spots. And the degree of the emotional expression can be raised with no even slightest doubt too, just to follow the principal of bringing out the overwhelming beauty of Bach’s music to its maximum.

    C'est vraiment magnifique, proche d'une certaine perfection, s'il en est... Le seul point sur lequel je me permettrai bien humblement de faire une petite remarque: pourquoi avoir rajouté tout à la fin les deux notes LA et SI qui ne me semblent figurer nulle part, à ma connaissance, au lieu de terminer normalement sur l'accord de Sol Majeur sans ajout supplémentaire... Je ne trouve pas, pour ma part, que le fait d'ajouter ces deux notes après avoir plaqué l'accord de Sol apporte quelque chose de plus à cette fin sur laquelle, à mon avis, il est préférable de ne pas rebondir, en quelque sorte, mais de terminer dans le plus humble recueillement...

    Chapeau bas Monsieur, quand sait la difficulté qu'implique la maîtrise de cette oeuvre éternelle à savoir, la conduite des voix ! et oeuvre non pianistique à l'origine. Bravo et respect. Ps: très très peu de pianistes osent jouer cette oeuvre en public.

    ALMOST as divine as Alon Goldstein’s ethereal encore performance. Skillful but somewhat hurried in parts and a bit too heavy.

      @catkeys6911 3 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      @@allthumbs3792 OK, well I just did, and it's also a very good performance. Goldstein changes up his tempo just a bit more, and, unfortunately the piano had some minor tuning issues with the unisons of one of the notes (I'm a retired piano tech, so maybe I'm a little fussy about things like that), so this Despax performance is still my favorite.

    • @kasaijnofinn
      @kasaijnofinn 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      You should see/listen to Alon Goldstein's recording on this piece on TH-cam. There is something very different about his interpretation of the piece that makes it stand out from all the rest of the recordings I've heard. I think the difference is mainly in his tempo and expression. His performance reveals a deep understanding of the piece, and of a personal connection to it as well which is rare in the interpretation of classical music today. th-cam.com/video/uKq5IcBFyeQ/w-d-xo.html&start_radio=1

    1. Jesu, Joy of Man’s Desiring
    Holy wisdom, love most bright
    2. Drawn by Thee our souls aspiring
    Soar to uncreated light
    3. Word of God, our flesh that fashioned.
    With the fire of life impassioned.
    Striving still to truth unknown
    Soaring, dying round Thy throne
    4. Through the way where hope is guiding,
    Hark, what peaceful music rings.

    • @dr.mikeybee
      @dr.mikeybee 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      It's a fairly easy piece, actually. The left hand does very little. The right hand is a slow pace with easy stretches, and it's a short repetitive work that's easy enough to memorize. Even I can play it, and I'm a musical idiot. ;) Still he plays it very well.

    • @pianoplaynight
      @pianoplaynight 4 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      @@dr.mikeybee it's not an easy piece. You think you can play it but you probably overpedal it and don't do any voicing. Let's hear you play it with the upper line legato, little pedal, and the proper voicings in the chorale parts.

    • @tomlinkas5950

      @@dr.mikeybee I can get play this too, it is not an easy piece. The right hand is actually very active. It sounds simple, but it is not! It is so easy to mess up!

    • @dr.mikeybee
      @dr.mikeybee 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@rothschildianum Of course a Master plays better than a novice. Nevertheless, compared to other works in the repertoire, it's relatively easy. After all, it's not exactly Gaspard De La Nuit. I'm not arguing that it isn't played well here. In fact, I said the opposite. I just think don't think it's a difficult piece. The fingering is very natural with easy runs and arpeggios. At least I find it to be relatively easy. And yes, I play it badly, but better than a lot of other pieces that I find much more difficult.
