Imperfections add character! My parents have an English walnut tree that I grew up collecting walnuts from and climbing the tree. I’m 35 now and that tree stopped producing walnuts and is slowly dying, so I wanted to cut it down make make some stuff out of it to give to my parents. A cutting board would be great for that. Good video!

Great vid 👍 Fun project 🙂 There is a certain satisfaction you can only get from starting with a tree and ending with a completed project.

Wow!! Amazing work Todd! I thoroughly enjoyed watching your skills at work. Such a great use of the split wood. Turning it into something beautiful. Well done!

Nice looking cutting board. One note, don’t use BLO for surfaces that are in contact with food. Regular linseed oil is fine, but the dryers in BLO are toxic.

Nice video. I recently made a jointing sled for my table saw for working with rough lumber. Easy to make and really helpful... just an idea for you to take a look at. It might help in projects like this.

Very nice. A friend Dave was looking for some help on making a cabinet and ran across that one you did. He's hooked now I think. He said he looked at some other projects too

Since we have the exact same planar I'll say good choice in tool selection! Although, for the sake of your lungs and time spent cleaning up, get yourself a 4" clear compression tube and a ring clamp and eject the dust and shavings into a sealed garbage bin. It'll take care of 95% of the debris and you'll be glad you spent the $50.

Looks awesome! I would not use mineral oil though, it has been known to cause cancer, and you would be ingesting it every time you use the cutting board.

Sometimes, you just have to stand to the side and use your push stick

I wouldn't say "thousands". I would think you could do it with less than $1,000 (edit: okay maybe $2000 🙂) Nice video!

Purchase them over a lifetime - research which ones are most important. Even better, get the basic tools and start selling products to pay for the new tools - reinvest in your skills.
At the end of the day it's achievable and anything short of that is an excuse.

I planner will not remove a cup in the wood! Nor flatten the stock. A jointer will do that you say why not? When you run the cupped stock through the planner the upper rollers will flatten the board as the knives go over the stock when the stock come out the other side the cup returns and is just more than when the stock entered the planner. Planner will only make stock thinner. To flatten a board you need a jointer.
I have both in my shop if I did not need the jointer I would not have it!
I will say it is a nice video!😁🛫
