      @yusufgta4341 I've done plenty of both, but I've done bjj for significantly longer. I strongly disagree with your framing of wrestling. It is EXTREMELY technical, just in different ways. Sure, there isn't any submissions, but I use so much more wrestling than just takedowns in my bjj. My primary back escapes and front headlock escapes are from my wrestling days. When I pass someone's guard, I use wrestling. It translates so incredibly well, it's unbelievable. Even this match. Consider that a man with ONLY wrestling, no bjj, could go against GORDON RYAN. Bo can take anyone down, but at this point in his career, not knowing how to defend those subs, he maybe didn't wanna risk it. Anytime Gordon shot a single or double, Bo had no issue stuffing it. Gordon could have heel hooked him in like 3 seconds, so it's nice he handicapped himself to try and make a more interesting event.

      In a vacuum, Jiu Jitsu outstrips wrestling. The early UFC showed us that quite clearly. But we're not in a vacuum anymore. The hybridizing has been happening for the better part of three decades now and I think within another 30 years the two will be virtually indistinguishable.

      Imagine sitting down in the entire MMA match.
      One Championship created rules that UFC banned like: 12-6 elbows, grounded knees.
      Pride FC have one of those soccer kicks to the head. How else can you beat wrestlers and grapplers if they always want to stay on the ground?

    • @bane3991
      @bane3991 ปีที่แล้ว +9

      @@alohatigers1199 Imagine not engaging with your opponent. The person on top has the advantage. Bo should have engaged or not taken the match. I agree, 12-6 elbows shouldn't be banned, neither should grounded knees and soccer kicks. They put grapplers at risk. However, it's a trade off. They put the top guy at risk because they're making it easier to grab a hold of their legs and get taken down. I guess it's like anything in MMA or life, pros and cons.
      But the rules favor strikers as well. You can't drop to sitting guard in MMA, you'll be forced to stand up or disqualified which greatly helps the striker out as does rounds because a grappler can be on top of you beating the balls off you but they're forced to stand when the round ends instead of picking up where you left off. So the rules favor strikers a lot more.

      On the other side, I also believe that responding to someone complimenting gordon's scissor sweep with how dangerous it is if improperly used is kinda mean. These guys are the top best in the world in terms of grappling, so its in these cases where scissor sweeps and other "dangerous" moves are most beautifuly expressed and shown, it's not like Gordon would just throw a scissor sweep not being in the right angle or having the possibility of injuring the opponent. He only got called for stalling one time at the same time Gordon did which made no sense because Gordon has been engaging and BO has not. What BO did here was blatantly against the rules and the ref didn't call it. If this wasn't stalling and running away, idk what is.
      I understand being competitive and wanting to win. But it was 100 percent dishonorable in what he did. I train MMA. I started off in BJJ and eventually went over to boxing/muay thai. 1 of the least respected things in grappling is lack of engagement. It's the worst part of the sport. 1 of my coaches used to say "Yes, you didn't get tapped out. But you didn't do shit either". It makes the sport stupid. Bo is clearly not anywhere near Gordon's level and he lasted over 10 mins just by not engaging. You would destroy that sports viewership if you took it to the extreme like Bo did. You can do whatever you want as long as the ref doesn't call it but that doesn't mean you should, BO abused it here. For example, what if the ref turns his back for a second and during that time I hit my opponent in the balls. Does that make it okay just because the ref didn't call it? It's well within the rules because the ref is the boss out there. No honor in abusing the rules.
      I do agree that the rule set is responsible too. In fact, I would change bjj rules throughout the board to quintet rule set. They don't allow closed guard and you get flagged for stalling immediately, within seconds. You must constantly engage, they're extremely strict about that.

      @@raiderspheresportstalkshow1926 how's Bo going to smash these BJJ guys with just wrestling and a little bit of training in a BJJ match?????? If you knew grappling, you'd know that most federations, like ADCC, don't allow takedowns that a wrestler would utilize other than doubles/singles. Wrestlers have habits of keeping their head up when shooting these and are ripe for their necks to be snatched. They call stalling if you aren't looking to advance position or look for subs. So how's Bo going to beat these guys at their own game with just his wrestling and very little training in BJJ?

      @raiderspheresportstalkshow1926 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@Surfrider-waves I am a blue belt myself with years of wrestling. If you truly know grappling, wrestlers prefer position over submission. Wrestlers constant pressure is on another level. No Gi Jiu Jitsu is Shoot/ Catch Wrestling. You cannot reinvent the wheel. Wrestlers grit, mentality, and grind is far greater than BJJ. That is why you won't see adult wrestling gyms. Because no average Joe can hang in true wrestling practices.
      Bo is an elite world wrestler and would destroy most black belts. Granted most black belts shouldn't be black belts in BJJ. There is too much image and politics in BJJ. This is why wrestlers do not have belts. You have to showcase your actual talent by wrestling and not by wearing a belt color.
