Sho nuff only had the glow on his hands and only had a boost in strength. Leroy had the glow around his whole body and had a boost in speed, power, and recovery,. Also he was able to catch a bullet with his teeth. Therefore Leroy was the first to go super saiyan.

I'm a white guy in my 50's, and me and my friends saw the movie when it came out in the 80's. It was inspirational to us, and we left the movie excited. It was that good! And all of my kids have seen the movie at least once. I wore the cassette out, and now have it on CD (but the CD version songs are different!)

    • @SuperMarioBrosIII
      @SuperMarioBrosIII ปีที่แล้ว +2

@GlueTubber That's because the CD version you have is from 2001 is remastered and expanded and has the extended versions of the songs as the original vinyl and cassette had the versions closer to what you heard in the movie! There was a CD released in 1985 but it was imported from Japan only and consists of the original versions of the songs from the LP and cassette!

Whereas I enjoy the content that you just posted on the movie The Last Dragon. You sir are indeed wrong in your final question as who was the first person to go Super Saiyan. You indeed state that "Sho nuff" was the first. That is incorrect. He may have had a "glow" but that color is associated with the Kaio Ken technique not Super saiyan. In later iterations that color would be used for Super Saiyan God Super Saiyan but not Super Saiyan. Bruce Leroy is in fact the person to go "Super Saiyan".

Im so glad you made this my brotha. As a film maker, video editor, content creator, martial artist and HUGE The Last Dragon fan myself, I can't express to you how great this was.
I started my martial arts early being inspired by Bruce Lee, Van Damme, Ninja Turtles, Power Rangers, etc and of course The Last Dragon. All i did was kick every damn day just because i was naturally good at it. Mom refused to let me join ab actual class because she didn't want me "getting hurt" haha so i trained on my own in my front and backyard, on the playground at school, in my room as I watched movies, DBZ or listened to soundtracks from Kickboxer, Street Fighter, Tekken, Best of The Best etc I was all in. I used to unscrew the broom stick from the bottom bottom part and use it as my bo staff for years. She would get so frustrated at first and knew instantly that whenever it was missing, that shed find me in the yard practicing haha eventually she grew to love it and even brought me my own after seeing how dedicated i was. She still didn't let me join a class, so when i was 18 I signed up immediately the day after my birthday to Hapkido. 25+ years, my first plane trip to Seoul South Korea, some gold and silver medals, stunt roles in films and fught scenes, being an instructor myself and a wealth of great experiences later, I was blessed with actually getting to meet Taimak in person just two weeks ago 🥋🙏🏿💯 I've had my CDL for a year, and drove my truck across the country top Denver Colorado for the Mile High Martial Arts Expo to ensure i didn't miss the chance to meet him and all of the other martial arts legends such as Philip AND Simon Rhee, Don The Dragon Wilson, Billy Blanks, Cynthia Rothrock, Keith Cooke etc and receive training from them. Im still putting together some videos of the event and im so grateful for having experienced such a thing.
R.I.P to my mother for being the biggest support in my life in my martial arts journey after her initial hesitation.
Sorry for the rant. I just had so many great memories as i wrote this and i thank you once again for this amazingly well put together video my guy. You'll definitely have my support from here on and I wish you all the best going forward 🙏🏿

The Last Dragon is great for so many reasons and introduced us to so many people even if we didn't realize back then. Having said that, The Last Dragon was Vanity ( Denise ). I am very much into martial art movies so I am sure I would have seen it no matter what. I saw it quick fast and in a hurry because of Denise. And I saw it 10 times after because of Denise. Another comment I'd like to add. Technically speaking Bruce Lee Roy did go SSJ first because he has a golden aura. Where as Shonuf has the red aura which should be considered the first power up that Goku used which was called Kaio Ken. So Shonuf used the Kaio Ken technique not SSJ because it has never been a red aura but a golden one. That's why Bruce Lee Roy was the last Dragon he's glow wasn't corrupted energy like Shonuff's. So yes the Asians did copy from us and they gave both Auras to the main character Goku as a level one to level two power up. In which he used the Kaio Ken first then became SSJ 2nd.

Shonuff didn't go Super Saiyan. His ki was RED, which is a version of King Kai's kai-o-ken and is weaker than Super Saiyan. Kaioken was able to be achieved by anyone who trained in it under the right conditions. Super Saiyan was a whole different level of strength, speed & awareness. It's easy to mistake it b/c in DBZ it looked like it was turned on by Goku & Vegeta via rage (obviously not b/c Vegeta couldn't master it by just raging the 1st time; he had to achieve spiritual defeat & let go of his ego for it to open up for him). Super Saiyan required a different type of emotional or spiritual awareness, which is what Bruce Leroy was being told by his master. So Bruce Leroy truly was the first to go Super Saiyan and MAYBE the real world inspiration for the character of Uub. I still think it would've been a killah idea if Toriyama had been a fan of the movie and directly introduced other characters directly ripped from the movie. People think Mr. Satan is Hulk Hogan, but he's really more like a goofy version of ShoNuff.

This is the perfect example, by creating an anime that they knew they could do anything with, and literally steal the light from the concept and give it to DBZ. That's what they do with everything.

First, it was so different because it was a kung fu movie about a black kid living in Harlem who acted asian! His family owned a pizzeria… usually owned by Italians at the time. So it crossed boundaries for an 80’s movie. It was funny and the martial arts were actually good! And of course Vanity was in it. Taimak still looks young for his age. And he could still play a leading man role. If he ever gets the opportunity. In fact they should write roles specifically for him. He could play Doctors, Lawyers, Business Executives and Military Officers etc. There's still time and he has a lot of life left in him.

This video was 🔥. It was fun taking a trip back in time and learning so many new things about a movie that helped shape our culture since the 80s till now. It's black pop culture relevance cant be denied. It's young and innocent when hip hop was still young and innocent, and that's what you get. Good clean fun. I especially enjoyed the tribute you gave Denise Mathews aka Vanity. She deserves all the flowers for giving millions of young boys their first fantasy crushes, and later girlfriend goals. Dope video bro keep them coming. I'm officially subscribing. Peace.

Taimak is a legend. I wish he was in more movies. I saw this as a little kid and to be honest I loved him more than Bruce Lee. I'm not black but I'm a brown Mexican kid and I saw myself in him a lot more than most white super heroes. I always loved his Ninja scene especially. This movie taught me so much about patience, dedication and the GLOW!!!

I absolutely loved this video brother. If you follow Dragon Ball Z technically Sho'nuff would have used Kaioken which was a lesser form of super Saiyan where he had a red Aura vs a gold like a super Saiyan. So actually Bruce Leroy was the first person who went super Saiyan.

Not to mention, an amazing classic soundtrack, by Berry Gordy himself. Every Blk person should have that soundtrack in their arsenal. I love working out to it. Makes me feel like I can do anything, even beat up Sho'nuff lol. A lot of the lyrics are very motivational and the music itself is supreme. ❤

Great content on an all-time classic movie! I learned lots of new stuff. I think your channel has a bright future. Constructive feedback--- cleaner sound on the narration via your microphone, etc. will level things up. That said, I'd bet that's in the plans. Either way, I just subscribed to the channel. Also another fun fact about Ron Van Clief... he fought Royce Gracie at UFC 4.

I appreciate this video. I love in depth reviews like this. One thing I'd like to point out, though, is the part where you mentioned Ron O'Neal. The movie "Superfly" is about a dope man named Priest (Ron O'Neal) trying to exit the dope game...his name isn't Superfly in the movie, it's actually the name of his cocaine. Folks who never actually watched the movie think it's about a Superfly pimp 😂😂

Definitely a inspirational movie for everyone. I’m a white farm boy from Albany Kentucky.
