Worked for food banks and homeless centers. Having to ask hotels if they have an empty room to give someone a spot and shower for one night. One cardboard box of food for a family of 1-6/month, donations to try and provide kids with coats. Now we can afford this, where has this been for citizens?

It was November and we didn't have coats or adequate shoes since we had lost everything. They didn't care. It hurts me that this country treats everyone better than its own.

I used to live in the DFW metroplex. We’ve been dealing with this for decades. My elementary school was largely homogenous ethnically speaking apart from having the largest Jewish concentration in the state. When I got to middle school the demographics were 40% Hispanic, as the kids are bussed in from the inner city. I went to a middle school where the average age was 12-13, the oldest was a 17/18/19 year old and could barely speak English, not to mention numerous others who literally spoke no English, it was like they were there just for a free breakfast and lunch. We have millions of these people who come here, at around 12-17 who just live in groups with each other and no adults. A few of them will work, the others will go to school. Mind you none of them pay federal taxes because they’re here illegally so they’re either defrauding employment papers with made up SSN’s or working contract jobs where blue collar companies will just pay in cash, if they pay at all, and forego any necessity for paperwork to avoid taxes. The biggest problem is undoubtedly the language barrier where if you have a troublesome youth who disrupts the class and basically refuses to learn and is impossible to expel because apart from disrupting the class they’re not doing anything that bad, they’re just incredibly immature, as if they are

It gets discussed in border states, and then Biden's regime comes in and says it's inhumane or whatever to hold and then deport people. They play off the scenario where children get separated from parents as a smokescreen. They stopped the "capture and release" method by which people are minimally documented and then freed to go anywhere. You might recall them saying Trump was allowing people to be kept in 'deplorable conditions' just because they were being held for processing. And in better conditions than these people on the streets. What these democrats are doing to our country makes zero sense.

I was very upset to learn that immigrants were given food stamps, Cash assistance, Medicaid, money for rent (no questions asked) while people I know who worked 30+ years, are now disabled or have cancer, on a fixed low income and only receive $23 a month in food stamps. They're not just in NYC. Many of them are going into other counties. There's a pantry in Nassau county that has been over whelmed with many of these immigrants. They went from giving food in a 6 hour window, with leftovers, to running out of food in less than two hours.

If I had chosen to have my kids out of wedlock and not chose a highly educated profession and instead work a minimum wage job …I’d be able to get all kinds of government assistance. Instead I choose to be a law abiding, tax paying, asset to my community and by doing the “right” thing and making the “right” choices, I am worse off that those migrants and single moms - I am instead punished for my skills, hard work, and dedication. It’s one of the most frustrating things in my life - when we hit hard times we are unable to find any kind of assistance bc of our “privilege”! When I graduated HS, my parents couldn’t afford to pay for my college and though I got some scholarships, I was still short on what was needed to pay for college. Bc of my “W privilege”, I couldn’t quality for any grants or scholarships due to my parents pay (though they made just enough to raise me and my sister very modestly (often month to month)…I never had this so called “privilege”!

The Right To Shelter Law was established in 1979 for the sole purpose of housing NYC residents who were homeless. It was never established for non citizens, migrants or illegal aliens, or visitors of other states. Not certain when this law was co-opted for the purpose of non citizens. It stands to reason that the this rule should apply and only apply to NYC residents. The housing necessities of NYC residents along with their health, safety and well fare should be the priority of Eric Adams. As the old adage states, "Charity begins At Home."

In the UK we're over flowing with immigrants and so many if not most are young males supposedly running from their home countries and yet they pass through so many safe countries to get to us because they get everything! A roof over their heads, clothes on their backs, food, spending money and we even pay their phone bills so they can keep contact with their families who usually tag along as soon as they can. We have asylum centres and hotels but they riot because its not enough! The thing is if they're seriously in danger in their home countries then surely being houses in a SAFE accommodation while being processed is a small price to pay. We have a massive lack of affordable housing in this country for people who were born here let alone those who have never made any contribution and only come to the UK because we're a soft touch and they will get everything they want and still talk shit about us. And they often complain about their living standards BUT so much of it is created by them! There are hotels trashed because they act like pigs and then complain. One centre was is a small and lovely town and they still rioted because they were "bored".

Having good intentions, and being generous is commendable, sadly, it will make the problem worse, as more migrants will be keen to go to a city that prioritise them over the locals. It doesn't make any difference the Major saying that the city is full, they will still come. It has been said many time, The path to hell is paved with good intentions. Or no good deed goes unpunished; Mr Adams would do well to come down from the high pedestal of self righteousness.

When I was in college studying to be an elementary school teacher, I took a job teaching ESL (English as a Second Language). Most of my students were fleeing places that had broken out into war, like what was formerly Yugoslavia. I wasn't paid to do so, but I also took the time to help them navigate getting work visas, a place to live and jobs. It was a really good feeling. And it really came full circle, because we kept in touch and a few years later when they found out I had to give up my teaching job because I was needing treatments at a cancer hospital, they helped me pack and move my things to an apartment closer to the cancer hospital and would show up with food so I wouldn't have to cook. They were like family. I was young (only 22) single, and I had no family, not even a parent to turn to for help.

Cash, it's great that you have taken on the role of a journalist during this situation. On the other hand, they need to shore up the border. There are way too many people coming at the same time and we don't have the capacity to take them in. But, I believe NYC had declared itself a sanctuary city, and I'm sure they never consulted the residents, did they?

Totally agree. That is why it is good to see and hear what is actually going on and the impact that an open border really has. Our southern states are over run for years now. Nyc has seen only a minute volume and can’t handle it. It is always easy to support bad policy when someone else has to handle the fallout. One can only hope nyc voters will vote another way

The presence of individuals in the USA living in cars due to partial homelessness is the result of a multifaceted interplay of elements. Elevated housing expenses in relation to income, stagnant wages, and income disparity are key drivers of this concern. Factors like job displacement, limited social backing, medical costs, evictions, and the absence of affordable housing also play contributing roles, while systemic issues and ineffective policies continue to sustain this situation.

Considering the present situation, diversifying by shifting investments from real estate to financial markets or gold is recommended, despite potential future home price drops. Given prevailing mortgage rates and economic uncertainty, this move is prudent, particularly due to stricter mortgage regulations. Seeking advice from a knowledgeable independent financial advisor is advisable for those seeking guidance.

I've remained in touch with a financial analyst since the start of my business. Amid today's dynamic market, the key difficulty is pinpointing the right time to buy or sell when dealing with trending stocks - a seemingly simple task but challenging in reality. My portfolio has grown by more than $600k within just a year, and I've entrusted my advisor with the task of determining entry and exit points.
