It has a lot to do with your personality, but I’ll answer based on the people I know. My friends/acquaintances that work in BigLaw, regardless of the practice area, get burnt out very quickly and look for ways to find more balance. A lot of them feel stuck because the pay is so good, but many are miserable. I see similar issues among public defenders minus the big paychecks - they have huge case loads and lots of stress. I have friends who would also tell you civil litigation is miserable, but that wasn’t true for me. I’d still pick real estate over litigation if I’m prioritizing my happiness. I’ll be transitioning to law school from consulting, so burnout is something that I’m fairly familiar with and I want to avoid law practices that promote burnout culture. If you don’t mind, can you answer one more question? The question being: what is the pay gap between real estate law and corporate law (firms)? I see numbers online but I don’t know if they’re realistic. My goal is to work in real estate law and IP law somehow intertwined with it. Ideally I would like multiple contracts at once but have the flexibility to make my own schedule which steers me away from corporate law.

Ligitation is really really hard and I just noticed this is not for me. In Brazil lawyers are hardly ever solicited to give legal advises for ordinary people, but this is something I feel very confortable in trying out, specially in International field.

Yes that is a litigation attorney like I mentioned, and the practice area in which I started my career in. There are thousands of very specialized areas you can practice within each area such as civil rights litigation, bankruptcy, or even nascar litigation like in Mooresville NC where I live.
