    This is an amazing beach. It was just you, the shorebirds, sharks, and waves... a beautiful place. Thank you for taking us there.

    We stay here every summer. Found out about it during pandemic. Our condo reminds me of Costa Rica, it sits right on the rustic area.

      I'm not 100% sure, but that may have been an oyster cracker (or oyster toadfish). One description says "They have strong jaws they use to open or crush clams and oysters, it is recommended to not get your fingers near the mouth or stick them in its mouth."

    Nice video Cliff. We surf fish there . Annual 4x4 passes. Will look for your sticker on the next trip. Can show you some pine barens ruins and abandoned towns also.

    Cliff,
    The Willet was a good find.
    I hope the almost dead Stargazer and the Sand Sharks aren't an omen of something bad.
    Those remains were from the Brigantine Castle and Pier which were totally destroyed by 1987.
    It had a very interesting history:)
    Cheers,
    Rik Spector

      The castle was at the end of town at 14th Street North. I remember going there as a kid. The ruins in this video are further north than where the Castle was.

  • @valiant971
    @valiant971 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    The ruins of that pier could be where the Brigantine Castle was located. It was a haunted house attraction that burned down in the 1980's I think.

  • @envetscuba
    @envetscuba 2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

    The ruins were the Brigantine Life-Saving Station No. 25, it closed in 1946 but dates back into the 1800's

    as a child we would drive to the Jersey Shore from Drexel Hill as often as possible, Stone Harbor, Tom's River, Atlantic city and Ocean city in the 50s and early 60s. Great memories.

    Cliff,
    Boy do I miss the Atlantic Shore living here in Ferndale, Washington State.
    I spent a lot of my life on the beaches and estuaries of New Jersey and
    that's "real" beach sand white and containing all kinds of cool things.
    My wife and I used to go Birding at Brigantine Wildlife Refuge pretty often and Cape May Refuge
    whenever we could.
    Thanks for the visit!
    Cheers,
    Rik Spector

    I have seen a lot of your video's this was the best one! I lived in Brigantine 25 years, for ten of them I was 100 steps from the beach and 9 blocks from the sight seeing tower you filmed from. That place is like paradise on earth. Great place to raise a family. I still go there once or twice a week to do volunteer work and visit friends. I so miss falling asleep to the sound of crashing waves and full moon lit walks threw the gentle lapping waves! Thanx Cliff

    There is a DuPont nature center in Wilmington De when you are in the Philly/South Jersey area that you might want to check out one day. Probably not that far from Ridley State Park.
