Hey I'm just glad that it took them 26 years to finally cast someone Japanese as Scorpion in Mortal Kombat 2021. And I know that this has nothing to do with Godzilla but still.
The Ghidorah head from the post credits scene was the one Godzilla ripped off in the ocean, not a chunk from the one he nuked in the end of the film. They had dug the severed head out of the ocean post Oxygen Destroyer, as Ghidorah is immune due to not needing oxygen. Benefits of being a space dragon. @@Godzilla-tu2cd Like in his review of "Godzilla vs Megaguiras" he COMPLETELY missed the detail that Godzilla was attracted to plasma energy WHEN THE FILM EXPLAINED HE WAS ATTRACTED TO PLASMA AT THE START OF THE MOVIE!!!
Great Review as always. The Faries are technically in the film. Dr. Ilene Chen and Dr. Ling (both played by the same actress Ziyi Zhang) are identical twins that go across generations. It's a way to make reference to the Faries while keeping it grounded within the context of this movie's universe, which was something I really appreciated. Also, that head they got at the end was from the ocean not from the reformed head. And in reference to Gihdorah being a Space Dragon, it's the reason as to why the Oxygen Bomb doesn't work on him. There are a lot of small details that as a fan I really loved. I loved the facail expressions Rodan makes. Mothra's cry being a modified version of her original cry. Every major monster's main theme kicks so much ass. All of their designs work really well too.
Also, the Director is a massive Rodan fan and if you look closely, when Rodan starts killing off the fighter jets, Michael Dougherty is the one who gets eaten and you'll see his picture on the monitors
This was the first movie I saw in IMAX and as a Godzilla fan, it did not disappoint. I love the blend of Showa monster brawls with themes akin to the Heisei series and giving us such good versions of these characters especially the best version of Godzilla and Ghidorah's rivalry. I like how Legendary pictures pays tribute to the original Godzilla vs King Ghidorah by using the same camera angle with king of the monsters and the 3 heads have their own personality.
Actually my favorite part of this movie is Rodan. I liked the part when he was dog fighting with the fighter jets and he went vertical in the air and then did that corkscrew and I do like the part when all the monsters bow to him at the end of the movie.
He also ate the director during that fight. Michael Dougherty's favorite kaiju is Rodan and as such he wanted to be killed by him which I still think is funny that he immediately wanted to be killed by him and not a cameo of him being a Monarch scientist at Rodan's containment site
22:50 No that Ghidorah head was from the sea battle. The one that Godzilla bit off. Also, the reason Emma decided to drive instead of get on the Osprey is cuz Ghidorah can FLY. He can catch up to the Osprey easily. Wading through the city with the winding roads is more complicated for Ghidorah to navigate through.
The quality of this movie is entirely down to it being made by FANS. I watched a press conference held at a convention in Japan, where the team and director spoke about the designs and kaiju featuring, and the reverence for the lore and mythos of the old movies was clear. One of the things I love is the reaction the Japanese audiences had to the movie- it felt like Western cinema had, at long last, done all of us proud. Godzilla VS Kong was also fun, I'm hoping that's soon to be reviewed! Also I guess we can add Rodan to the list of monsters whose one weakness is a prick, alongside Michael Myers and the Night King.
Hopefully, if they continue with this monsterverse we'll get a mothra film. They set her up pretty well (of course the design is different, but kaiju films tweak designs between movies all the time), and they did set up the fairies - even though they didn't use them here. I would love to see their take on battra.
I can’t believe people missed that. So many clues: the photos of the twins and their family members (all the women were twins and somehow connected to Mothra). Each twin’s reaction to encountering Mothra (huge spiritual connection by knowing when she was going to emerge and when she arrived in Boston).
Theres a weird thing about ionizing radiation. When I was in Hiroshima I learned that a few weeks after the blast, plants that sprout at certain times of year all grew at the same time all out of sequence. Well we are getting two TV shows one for skull island on Netflix (whenever that's coming out) and a Godzilla series on apple plus. And their working on a new movie so the Monsterverse is pretty much good
Mark is a Kenny in adult form, hard for monster movie writers not to include one of these for some reason. Have to keep the character count down, yet have what few you have be important enough that their continued participation in the movie accomplishes something.
You're right, he basically is the Kenny. He contributes very little despite his informed abilities and most of what he does could have been written into other characters who are already in those scenes. His whole animal behavior knowledge thing should be covered by staff that Monarch would already have present.
Parallels between Ghidorah encased in ice, and Outpost 32 to The Thing and Outpost 31 are intentional, according to the commentary. Also, at one point, a soldier says "you gotta be fucking kidding me!" during Ghidorah's escape/attack.
You can also hear her cries as well. She saved Godzilla from death when he went thermonuclear. She helped him release his thermonuclear energy in pulses. Hence the reason he's still alive at the end. Such a beautiful relationship in a way.
It's hard to notice, but the fairies are there, the woman telling mark about how she is third generation monarch has pictures of her family which are all twins, so the fairies do make a little nod
The ex-wife's entire plan destroyed this film for me. Like I enjoy it, but I can't find myself watching anything but clips of the monsters fighting. Her plan isn't crazy or insane. It's just bad writing.
19:13 - 19:19 Actually, I was hoping this would reveal Madison was actually Eleven, having changed her name after leaving Hawkins in season 3 of Stranger Things, unleashing her psychokinesis on Ghidorah! Now, that would be a Hell of a crossover!
I’m disappointed you didn’t go over how the introduction to marks character is just a copy of the intro to nick tatopolas. Man studying wildlife interrupted by the government flying in on a helicopter to tell him he’s being reassigned.
I fell to my knees when Mosura hatched and I sang the words to her hymn with humble adoration. And when she unleashed her goddess rays, I shed manly tears of joy.
I really like kotm. Best American Godzilla movie and it's great to see Rodan, Mothra and king Ghidorah in an American movie. Also you should've done Kong skull island before doing this movie but some antics. 6:39 yes but not in Godzilla home turf where he has the clear advantage. 8:52 well yeah this movie is made to respect the original series. What do you think this is the 98 movie? 9:24 the missiles are annoying him at best. Besides if they were effective Ghidorah should've been dead after the 3rd hit. Again Decker this isn't the 98 movie. 9:55 in context of the Monsterverse and how the titans work their radiation heals the planet just go with it Decker it's a Kaiju movie. 10:37 they do just wait. 13:13 you clearly missed it. Zhang ziyi is playing twins in this movie. Their the shobijin in this series. Heck they showed you this in a scene later how did you missed this?15:50 it makes sense mark worked with monarch before the battle in San Francisco happened he knows what Godzilla needs to survive. By this point it's common knowledge. 18:15 this is Godzilla remembering mark and they show some signs of respect twords each other. 21:31 so that larva at the beginning of the movie didn't count? We literally saw the whole evolution of Mothra from larva to cocoon to adult to death. We gotta wait for the rebirth of Mothra 22:30 he was stunned in the shoulder. 22:48 wrong that's the head from Mexico.
Let’s face it guys, this isn’t a good movie. The action is broken apart and overly obscured, the plot is extremely weak, and the humans are more boring than Aaron Taylor Johnson. It does have really good scenes, and the monster designs are all great
The mother was so an annoying and unsympathetic character that I forgot all about the terrorists that she was working with. She wasn't even a decent villain either, I cheered when she got ended as it meant that she finally had no more scenes.
As a citizen of Boston...I WAS HONORED. They blew up the Pru building! Also....the pru mall/convention center is home to Anime Boston where a few years back, we were honored to be graced by actor Haruo Nakajima! He was the suit actor for the first Godzilla movie in 1954!
I've been a huge fan of the BigG since I was a child. Yep, a big "Zillahead" lol and I loved this installment so much I bought it a couple years ago after it came out. Thanks so much for the upload 👍👍
Really liked this take overall on Legendary's Godzilla giving me my favourite adaption of King Ghidorah, many great Kaiju scenes such as Godzilla vs King Ghidorah and Rodan vs the military. Glad I'm not the only one who despised Mark, literally made every other character irrelevant worse than Brody. The human plot, Oxygen Destroyer, and representation of Mothra were the only drawbacks for me but otherwise really enjoyable.
also, can we finally get Mothra Leo back in a future Godzilla film? I'm getting sick & tired of seeing Mothra die and Mothra Leo is powerful enough to actually go toe-to-toe with the big G himself, especially with his many other various forms that he can use to his disposal. plus, the story possibilities especially with Battra is just begging to be explored. I would even be happy if they gave some of the dropped ideas a chance to shine and fleshed out like Mecha Mothra, Gigamoth, Ghost Godzilla, and most importantly, Bagan.
I enjoyed this movie but the one thing I can never quite get over it was that they tried to redeem Emma. She was fine with killing billions of people. She doesn't get a Redemption Arc. Her son dies, it's a tragedy. She intends to kill millions of children it's a statistic. That sounds like somebody but who?

Using the Oxygen Destroyer automatically means they have to. PERIOD.
Gigan and Megalon just died a little inside.
@@BriantheWolverine: Considering how much they had to negotiate for the approval of their proyects after GvK, it seems the monsterverse is basically on borrow time right now.
As much as i want to see green alien Gigan and Chainsaw hand cyber Gigan, i highly doubt he would be considered for a movie adaptation.
And lets be honest to ourselves: If the closest we have gotten to Anguirus so far is a dead skull, Megalon has very slim chances to even be considered let alone adapted.
They could use Hedorah for the kind of hamfisted and heavy handed environmental message you know the studio would push, while trying to sell us cheap sweat-shop made plastic merchandise with absolutely no hint of irony
@@Punisher3-16 Hopefully there will be a compromise between Legendary and Toho, because the success of the Monsterverse and especially GvK probably made Toho be like "Okay, okay, America knows how to handle Goji this time..."
Sees a notification for a new Decker video, it's about Big G.
Thank you TH-cam algorithm. It's finally doing its fucking job right for once.
”Which is why it’s even more confusing that they didn’t have the two magical fairies.”
Maybe they’ll appear to those who snort enough coke.
In the first cut of Godzilla vs Kong, Godzilla has Kong pinned down. And just before delivering the death blow, Kong signs "Save Mothra!" Then Godzilla roars "How do you know that name?" They both then team up to defeat Doomsday!
The first video I watched of your was AVP total destruction and I've been subscribed ever since then. I haven't been watching recently but this video has brought me back because well Decker + Godzilla.
I'm sure this will be a great video. All I have left to say is I have been waiting since 2013 for you to do Pacific Rim. I am this close to flying to Texas and giving you the bluray.
In all seriousness thank you for the memories I've been watching your channel for almost 10 years now, and its gotten me through some dark times.
Thank you Decker
Who else seen godzilla verse King Kong awesome movie
I'm definitely liking the whole monster verse I hope they keep turning out these good movies!
Well we are getting two TV shows one for skull island on Netflix (whenever that's coming out) and a Godzilla series on apple plus. And their working on a new movie so the Monsterverse is pretty much good
The guy behind this movie was a massive Godzilla fan. It shows in a great number of small details.
Yup
Mark is a Kenny in adult form, hard for monster movie writers not to include one of these for some reason. Have to keep the character count down, yet have what few you have be important enough that their continued participation in the movie accomplishes something.
You're right, he basically is the Kenny. He contributes very little despite his informed abilities and most of what he does could have been written into other characters who are already in those scenes. His whole animal behavior knowledge thing should be covered by staff that Monarch would already have present.
Mark: "Listen to me!"
You got to hate "Kennies."
Madison was originally going to have a psychic and spiritual bond with Mothra and later Godzilla. But they didn't use it.
Everybody from live and wired definitely excited about this upload ever since he teased it the other day!
Parallels between Ghidorah encased in ice, and Outpost 32 to The Thing and Outpost 31 are intentional, according to the commentary. Also, at one point, a soldier says "you gotta be fucking kidding me!" during Ghidorah's escape/attack.
Love that reference
Barnes?
@@Godzillakingofkaiju1 yes
I don’t know if others notice but when Godzilla does shockwaves you can see mothra
You can also hear her cries as well. She saved Godzilla from death when he went thermonuclear. She helped him release his thermonuclear energy in pulses. Hence the reason he's still alive at the end. Such a beautiful relationship in a way.
Been waiting for this one!
The description Decker is providing is more interesting the actual movie.
Not really a challenge for this one. Worst U.S. produced Godzilla movie yet.
Thnks decker Shado... You just made my day....
I fell to my knees when Mosura hatched and I sang the words to her hymn with humble adoration. And when she unleashed her goddess rays, I shed manly tears of joy.
Mosura ya Mosura
Dongan kasakuyan indo muu
Rusuto uiraandoa, hanba hanbamuyan, randa banunradan
Mark's "Mary Sue protagonist " levels are off the roof, but it was a fun watch.
Guy that played Scorpion in Mortal Kombat is the number one japanese American.

"I want the bear that killed my family dead, but unless you guys think your bb guns can kill it, I'd advise you not to shoot the thing right now"
I really like kotm.
I love following you! Keep it up!
@7:24 wow I like how even though he's referencing other movies all still accurate and relevant descriptions for this movie
Already really enjoying this review, also please review Rambo: Last Blood since you reviewed
all of the other ones.
just let out a gasp & a holy shit at work seeing this notif!! I’m so excited you finally got to this awesome movie
Rewatching this…the line at 11:55 is golden, looking back.
18:07 - Love it !!!
"What's in Antarctica?"
What isn't in Antarctica!?
Polar bears
Warm weather.
I love this movie so much more than Godzilla versus Kong. Between the music score Ghidorah and rodan . It better imo
Oh this movie score in general is the best in the whole monsterverse
@@Godzilla-tu2cd whole heartedly agree
@@diobrando5896 👍👍
Decker I salute you! Your reviews are even better than before.Thank You & keep them coming.
18:02 - 18:08 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
Xenon Bloom: "Wait, no, sorry, I was thinking of a T-Rex!"
(Rick and Morty reference)
As a citizen of Boston...I WAS HONORED. They blew up the Pru building! Also....the pru mall/convention center is home to Anime Boston where a few years back, we were honored to be graced by actor Haruo Nakajima! He was the suit actor for the first Godzilla movie in 1954!
"...easier to fight Godzilla than to find the clitorus." Instant classic line 👌!!!!!
I've been a huge fan of the BigG since I was a child. Yep, a big "Zillahead" lol and I loved this installment so much I bought it a couple years ago after it came out. Thanks so much for the upload 👍👍
WHOA!!!!! I was not expecting this review!
12:23 "hey look everyone, Kevin's back!!"
YES i've been waiting for this thank you.
I cant wait for your review of godzilla versus Kong...it is amazing...I loved that movie. That final battle was sooo cool
Oh I've been waiting so long for this one!!
6:05 - First I thougth about how much I dislike Zero-Soft-Drinks because Diabetis ...
Then I thougth again and laughed hard
Really liked this take overall on Legendary's Godzilla giving me my favourite adaption of King Ghidorah, many great Kaiju scenes such as Godzilla vs King Ghidorah and Rodan vs the military.
Glad I'm not the only one who despised Mark, literally made every other character irrelevant worse than Brody. The human plot, Oxygen Destroyer, and representation of Mothra were the only drawbacks for me but otherwise really enjoyable.
Thanx, Decker!!
I'm loving the amount of work your doing man. I want you to know I appreciate you brother
also, can we finally get Mothra Leo back in a future Godzilla film? I'm getting sick & tired of seeing Mothra die and Mothra Leo is powerful enough to actually go toe-to-toe with the big G himself, especially with his many other various forms that he can use to his disposal. plus, the story possibilities especially with Battra is just begging to be explored. I would even be happy if they gave some of the dropped ideas a chance to shine and fleshed out like Mecha Mothra, Gigamoth, Ghost Godzilla, and most importantly, Bagan.
Mothra Dies.
Creepy: NO! NO! NO! NO! NO! NO!
Chibi Cathulu: NO! NO! NO!
ngl I think this is one of the best Godzilla movies period, which is saying a lot considering it's an American film.
I was never really clear on whether of not Rodan and Fire Rodan were the same person.
One of your best reviews. Well done!
I literally clicked on the video as soon as it popped up, FINALLYYY
I enjoyed this movie but the one thing I can never quite get over it was that they tried to redeem Emma. She was fine with killing billions of people. She doesn't get a Redemption Arc. Her son dies, it's a tragedy. She intends to kill millions of children it's a statistic. That sounds like somebody but who?
She was annoying me so much that I paused 1/3 of the way and texted a friend asking "they kill her by the end of the movie, right?" before continuing.
RIP Creepy.
Decker always good to see you ^_^
21:20
Welp, guess it’s a good thing Creepy isn’t here
Love how Miki from the Hesei Era Godzilla films cameoed. So much fan service in this film.
