@@THMXCO I'm thinking tomorrow. I just had a really nice guy ride my bike and tune my carb and suspension for me last weekend. I've only ridden it once since, so I'm still not used to the changes. Looking to get a handle on it before the snow flies though. And when that happens, I might just throw the bike into the van and head south.
You could actually be really fast if you disconnected your rear brake and rode like that for a month or so. Your front end dives too much too. Yamahas handle WAY better with a more supportive (meaning dive or compression support) front end. On hardpack stuff like you were riding on i run michelin starcross tires with 11psi in front and 9psi in back. Slow the rebound down in the shock, and click it 3 or 4 positions softer. I can see you laboring coming into the corner, not because youre not a good rider, because you dont want the front to wash out. I promise you these settings will really really help. Im a 34 year old local pro and Yamaha master mechanic. I just race the vet pro class now because im old but i really know my shit when it comes to setting a bike up especially when its a yz250. Ive owned, believe it or not, 13 yz250s. You seriously have potential to get really fast man. Your body position is perfect, you keep your head up, elbows up, and hold your line. The only thing holding you back is your suspension settings and too much rear brake.
This is an old beat up yz250, the reason he looks like he's laboring is because the front brake rotor is covered in fork oil from leaky fork seals and the rear brake literally barely works. We didn't have time to fix it up, just wanted to film the video! As for the suspension settings, we will give it a try for sure! Love me some YZ250 Cheers!
You're making me regret not taking my YZ250 to the track today.
You should lol
