love this. When I would tell people I borrowed money from my parents to start my photography business, I would always get a bunch of "rich kid" responses. Money is part of the business. There is no getting around it.
Thank you so much for this! This is right where I’m at. Just started Valiante Films llc, no equipment yet. Stepping forward. Goal is to bring my feature film #MysticJuna to reality. You guys are so on point. Thank you once again
Unfortunately -and surprisingly- there’s not enough information on starting a production company and to run it. I love the channel however this video gave us nothing about how to get one and operate it. Go to legal zoom and open one isn’t enough. I wonder why filmmakers aren’t sharing more info on this crucial topic instead we hear all the cliche about how to go make a movie. There are enough of that.
Thanks for the feedback Burak. We believe this is part one on this topic with Van. We have more coming where it does go a little deeper. And we will keep this in mind for future conversations.
@@viliamvacula8111, on the one hand, I agree with you, on the other hand, my competition is also the people I could work with. If I don't direct, I can act. If I don't act, I can produce. If I don't produce, I can write... if Some filmmakers would take their heads out of their ass, maybe, just maybe, they'll be able to be a part of way more projects than crying "I haven't been on a film set in 5 years because I didn't get to direct anything I had an interest in". Eventually, it comes down to being on a film set that there be a product to be edited to become the film, being a part of a project rather than always doing a specific role intended. For me, as long as I get to be on a film set and do anything for the film, I don't care what; I'm happy. After all, it's called filmmaking, right? PS, it's not all only for you to read Viliam. @@filmcourage Thanks for responding. It would be great for the channel as well. If you can also have Film/Entertainment Lawyers - Accountants/ and Producers that actually hands-on dealing with those aspects. I recently had a free consultation with a lawyer/(award-winning both broadway and tv )producer who had the answers to all my questions however He charges almost a grand/hr. I would appreciate it and I believe many in your channel would be too. Thanks for the great content as well. Cheers.
I want to be an Entrepreneur in my film company. I want my own studio . Tyler Perry have his own studio in Atlanta. I want my own but different. To be honest I want to learn about Entrepreneur, Film & production companies because my long term goal having my own film business besides being an Entrepreneur
I got one only in name and I'm going to use some of my stimmy on registering the domain for a website. When cash starys to roll in is that the time to register it as an llc?
@Ghost Ghost Thanks, I'm trying not to be the starving artist type lol, currently im practicing wordpress for my website and still working on a business structure.
@Ghost Ghost There were some business books I was recommended and the money spend on camera bodies I could just use that on a online business course or two.
It'd be nice to start a production company. We do some wedding and event films, but that's about it. It's hard to branch out to get more clients as I am not very charismatic. Sucks.
Charisma is just a tool. If that doesn’t work for you, then use some other aspect of your personality that you find will strongly help you get more clients.
Anyone in New York that wants to start their own Film production? I have a few screenplays and would like to collaborate with anyone who is passionate. We can work on mines and yours project.
I liked his statement: “become comfortable with being uncomfortable “

Nothing wrong with being a rich kid. If you can borrow from your parents go for it and don’t listen to that bunch of morons.
I get my money from your mom too
"there's a reason it's called the movie business" - loved Van's point of having to like the business side of things, it's a big part!
What a calm personality.
Yeah, not buying it
I want an ASMR cut of him saying Um for ten hours.
@@domferretti i am.
Reminds me of George Lucas.
Don't know what the h he is talking about! Such a terrible presentation.
See that’s how you know he is passionate because his vibe and the tone of his voice changed dramatically when he started talking about film.
Yeah this video needed some more specifics on the daily things of running his first project and how it’s different now that he’s grown.
And here we are.
So many people say “I started a company” as if it’s easy but I don’t know where to even start

Congrats and best of luck!
Thank you Van. I am very grateful for your information and experience.

Filmmakers are not looking for more competition.

I'm feeling some strong Garth from Wayne's World energy from this guy.
Definitely not..
I'm actually waiting for him to ask for his Swingline back. They're so much better than the Boston.
No this is not Garth.
😂
And? I’m getting those uptight misconceiving people vibes from you
Everything was answered I like this channel ,
The VERY first thing you do is talk to an entertainment attorney. Period.
I got one only in name and I'm going to use some of my stimmy on registering the domain for a website. When cash starys to roll in is that the time to register it as an llc?
It's not that easy. Most entertainment attorneys won't talk to you unless you are already established.
A business lawyer is who you want to talk to first. It's a business you are establishing first

Agreed. Super refreshing actually 🙏🏻

Stick to what you are doing if it is a viable business. Most low budget films simply lose that low budget and more.
This guy isn't very charismatic either. Fucking go for it.

Work with what you got.
Great content
Thanks for watching!
What questions do you have about starting a production company?
Thank you! This is exactly the info I have been searching for.
How do you pay the creatives properly
What exactly does the producer do to contribute to the project? Can the creative director be the producer too?
What are the basics that are essential to make sure you have everything you need? What are the lessons learned?
How to handle investors' payouts? Is there a 3rd party service or are the investors sent reports with checks?
How do you get the money to make fiction short films/ feature films for profit? Who are the clients that you need to acquire?
Great hat!
This was great.
Good info
I like this but I need more 👍🏻

Let's all band together and take down the IRS!! 🤣😤😫
Just wanted to let you know you spelled Van Ditthavong wrong in the title of this video.
Thank you for letting us know, Jason!
@@filmcourage My pleasure. I love your videos.
Yo!! Is this guy INTENTIONALLY trying to NOT simply answer the question and give the goods !!!!?????
Pretty much yes.
Turned it off at 4 minutes.

Can this guy talk more slowly and quietly and fall asleep like the viewers do ?? I met mice with more charisma
