Stick to what you know Steve. Been stopping at 50,000 Silver Dollars for 30 years. GREAT STOP!! Mouth watering Rainbow Trout, great local people. A place where you can walk in after being away six months and they see you and yell “where you been”. You should meet the owners, great folks with a lot of events year round.
Sat here in my recliner in Southern Spain enjoying a beautiful ride in a real truck in Montana. Great scenery, interesting conversation, life is good. By the way I once spent a whole year in the USA in an old Mini Winnie Winnibago RV just moving on where life took me, enjoyed Montana, enjoyed the whole damned year. Now 81 YEARS old and enjoying travelling via the Internet. Thankyou.
El hombre/camión.... truck Man 😃😃...beautiful landscape similar a Patagonia Argentina ...greetings from Mar del Plata Argentina...🇦🇷🇦🇷🇦🇷.... .eres el PADRINO DE LOS CAMINOS 🙂🙂... chau bye bye.....
Freeway runs along a lot of the original Milwaukee Road route, lot interesting history related to that line. Since you asked, I had property and a house/shop on Hwy 12 @ Myrtle, just over the hill from Haugan, well a little farther. I had a aluminum hull jet boat w/a strong V-8 and pimped out side by side to cruise the many miles of forest roads. Took several trips to Avery ID, where the Milwaukee had a big shop facility, it's all gone now but the original road beds and many tunnels can be traveled on, go all over the area on the forest roads, get way back. Bought my place in 05, developed it and aged out in 19, got too old to hack the 1800 mile commute from Germantown to Lewiston. Route was turn south @ Missoula down 93 to 12 west 200 miles of twisty turns along the rivers to our house @ Myrtle. Watching this content really brings me back, spent a good bit of time in the area on the side by side, St. Regis, Wallace, Avery. Miss it a lot, getting old sucks balls.
Great job showing and telling, been there done that, the snow looks great with the mountains in with it all.keep on trucking Steve, I got about 25 years trucking, back in 1983 got to see the United States what you’re looking at now. It was great to see at a young age,I am 65 now still got my CDL can still drive DOT still saying I can, well Steve see ya next time see ya bye.
I have much respect for truckers and the work that all of you do especially when you take the time to make a video and all those camera angles that you take, I really feel that I am in your truck as you drive through the beautiful country of Montana. It is how I am able to explore and get to know our country, through the eyes of the truckers and the videos that many of you share. Thank you Steve for sharing and taking the time to share.
Welcome to Montana! The railroad line you were following is the old electrified line for the Milwaukee Road that was shut down in 1980. Here in Montana, there are plenty of things to do in all four seasons: Winter season, Fishing season, Road construction season, and hunting season. The biggest attraction is of course tourism but primarily hunting and fishing.... and drinking! The state parks are beautiful.
Thanks for sharing 👍🏻. Love the forested mountain sides and tops. Orwell sounds great. A bottle of "Howes" a fill and on to your drop. Some heavy snow ❄️ could add to the picturesque scene, a cabin to pull in to for a hot meal in the Mountains, roast beef, some spuds, turnip and carrots 🥕. Can you tell l haven't had supper yet? Happy motoring ! Catch you tomorrow. ✌🏻👍🤘🌬❄️🇨🇦👋.
Haven't trucked in thirty years. In my 20s and into my 30s I ran that stretch of road dozens of times. Including in the late 70s and early 80s when a lot of it was still two lane between Missoula and Lookout. In fact, as they were building the "new" (at the time) four lane of I 90, we ran over Camel Hump road which heads west out of St Regis there and came back out on the already completed I 90 over by Henderson there. This video really took me back. I saw a few rigs rolled over in the "curvy' stretch there just east of where you spent the night. One was upside down in the river, a big shiny Pete conventional chicken hauler as I recall. Thanks for the video.
shouldnt let losing material stuff get u down had it once u can get it again when u get sick with no way out then thats hard to me youre living the dream to be able to see the sights thats what its all about wish i could ride along
Montana its quite the jewel of a state. Big Sky country, all that area Wyoming, the Dakotas are beautiful lands. The scenery is spectacular and clean prestine air. Thanks Steve for all the great sights along your trips, I enjoy your comments too buddy. Take care and safe trucking. 👍
That was my run in the 80's. Minnesota to the northwest. Back and forth. And they paid me for it. I felt sheepish and guilty. Light traffic also. My absolute top was taking the shortcut south from Bozeman instead of I 15. Through West Yellowstone and a sliver of the Park. Driving my 80,000 snow machine in stunning white landscape. And grooves plowed in the ice for traction. They go back and forth on allowing trucks on that route.
If I see an Cenex truck stop I might shed a tear. Spent a lot of time at them. Back in the day we had to pump #1 fuel also especially places like Grand Forks. The west coast jelly would freeze up pretty quick. Stations premixed #1 and #2 also.
They have a LOT of snow that way this year, I just went down 287 by the Madison river and the range winds were crazy strong trying to blow the roads shut. Sure isnt Baltimore! 😂
I for one really appreciate your videos, the sequence of events you go through, your narrative, and of course the scenery is fantastic. I like how you take the time to really appreciate the beauty of the landscape. Too many people in the hustle and bustle of their lives to stop and look around themselves and reflect. They would be happier if they did...
I was a trucker from the late 70s until the late 80s. A lot of my experience was in conventionals, but I spent significant time in some cabovers as well. I hauled gravel for 1.5 years in a 75 Pete COE with a 350 Cummins w/13 speed. That truck had been really nice but had been severely mistreated before I got it. A lot of memories. Love watching your channel, just hauling stuff with that Peterbilt cabover!
Thanks your video brings me back to the mid 80s living in Bozeman stones throw from the 90. When trucks were long legged and the drivers were outlaws just like Orwell and yourself.
I'm just above you in Alberta...rodeo's...hunting,fishing etc... Big mine in Butte...many Indigenous Communities with lots of excitement! Fire's are bad in the winter...combustion or something, just lights up shops, barns etc... B safe... Love the respect,manners...u r old school! I'd be proud to run down the road with ya!! An retired old lady trucker 30 years❤ Keep on keepin' on!🇨🇦
Hey Steve I live in Libby MT north of the Hagen scales but I drive I-90 from Missoula to deer lodge MT nightly as a line haul contract driver for fed ex ground. Welcome to MT
Your right Steve it sad this country took for granted the industry that is responsible for this country being great . I have a feeling some day sooner that later we are going to regret that decision.
I have traveled all around Montana on my road bike. The whole state is beautiful especially the West side. Lots of good back roads and beautiful country.
i didnt understand untill it was me id would have traded all for to be healthy again youre a very lucky person to be able to to drive and see everything
You had to went thru Drummond Mt. There used to be scales on the west side of town. Anyway my brother lives just south of there a few miles. Thanks for bringing me back. That stream by the highway is the Clark river. It dumps into the Snake river. At Drummond take the Pintlar Senic highway to Anaconda. Half way or so is a town called Phillipsburg, and just outside of town in the summer, the Sapphire mines are open. It's extremely attractive up there, and finding gem sapphires is a bonus for a summer vacation. At the sapphire mines you pay a small fee for a bucket of creek gravel, the you shake it in a sluce, and the sapphires and maybe gold are heavier and settle to the bottom, then you flip the sand over and pick the sapphires out. They look like glass beads, but they are real natural sapphires. You keep what you find.
FSC you nailed it with the pedal steel guitar music at the end of the video. Mighty fine Country you were driving through. Brought back a lot of memories and reality. Your so lucky to be doing what ya love and the Mrs has your back at home. FSC another top quality video, this one touched places in my heart, have yourself a great and a safe day, happy trails and happy motoring…
I have a K100 that I bought last year. I’ve been pulling my conestoga with it. I’m going to order an RGN in the next year or two so I can move double drop loads.
Hi Steve, I live north of Coeur d’ Alene and we do a lot of SXS riding in the lookout pass area, a lot of forest service roads that go back and forth between Idaho and Montana. Thanks for making your videos, I enjoy watching them
Hello man !!!! I've seen some American truck drivers, but really, that blue Peterbilt of yours calls a lot of attention !!! The roar of this engine is absolutely incredible!!!! following you from here in the south of Brazil !!!! good luck brother!!!!!
Hey Steve, I want to thank you for posting this today because I really needed to hear some words of encouragement because I just found out repainting my truck is going to be way more expensive then I was thinking it was going to be and so I'm really upset about how this country is a place that gouges the shit out of you faster than you can make money over the holidays and the entire year to spend. It just took my sails down and then I heard your words of encouragement and also got some great news about more work coming up for me which helps bring up the spirits. Montana between the border of Idaho and Billings cannot be beat when it comes to gorgeous scenery and knowing you're somewhere where you feel serene and free of everything which bugs you.
Did you know that Gary Ridgway, the infamous Green River Killer, responsible for dozens and dozens of murders, painted Kenworth trucks for a living for over thirty years?
The original engine brake was made by Clessie Cummins and he sold it to the Jacobs Chuck company in CT. Clessie tried to sell it first to Cummins but they turned it down.
Great video Steve really enjoyed the beautiful scenery in this video. Really enjoyed all the different camera angles and your commentary and the music stay safe Steve.
I'm not a trucker but I really dig this video. You have a way of letting us ride with you as if we were there. Now I want to do a road trip from northeast PA all the way out west on I 90. Beautiful country. Keep em comin.
@Jeff I'm in the Poconos. We like it a lot. It's not depressing. Pa is a great place to live unless you are stuck in some depressed coal town. But these places do not represent the great majority of Pa. I've been to Florida in summers several times. It's horrible there. The heat is horrific. I've been to the southwest. Beautiful but no forests, mountains , etc. I couldn't live there. Typical winters where we live, but I am a North Woods guy, having grown up in Northern Maine. No, PA is a beautiful state. It's all perspective, family, and experience.
I lived in Haugan for years. It is a awesome place to live. The downside is it’s hard to make a living. You have to come though under a load or you loose you ass. Fright is cheep in that country. I do miss it though.
Yep guys it west Hartford ct made sure this 20 year old kid back in 1978 got a set of Jake Brakes. Out the back door. Great guys . Lived only 12 miles from the manufacture. Back in the day wagon always had 100,000 lbs. they worked great on the old Cummins… much better than other manufacturers retarders . Nice videos……
Looks like a great day for a drive through the mountains of Montana, you're right Steve, what beautiful terrain..... I really enjoyed watching, thanks and keep on trucking!😀
Hi Steve just finished watching video beautiful landscape awesome snow love where you’re camera are so I can see beautiful country and as always you be safe 🇺🇸
Takes me back. A 362 COE Pete was my home away from home for a year in the late Eighties (hint: is was blue with a trailer to match). I still had to lay down to put on my britches, but the bigger sleeper was already a step up from the 9670 International I had gotten out of.
Your only seeing a fraction of it,lots of old railroad history over there, the Milwaukee railroad is about my favorite of them.hit me up if you come back, I can send you to all sorts of places for boating, camping , off-road driving ( depends on skill level) lots of ghost towns around.im in the Billings area..that bridge in St Regis is from the Milwaukee railroad,if ya get bored look up the history of it, they had some of the most beautiful country that their line went through
That part of Montana was served by the old Milwaukee Road Pacific Coast Extension that was built way to late into the 20th century served no major towns and when the mines closed for the copper industry lost 90% of all their revenue that was on the line.
Haters you better leave this channel or else! Haters don’t belong here they don’t know anything about trucking! Keep u the good work and block the haters Steve!
Back in the day my dad shared a shop with someone. It burned to the ground. It is a sad thing when that happens. You lose your trucks, you lose your tools, your equipment, the whole deal.
Going to the sun road in west glacier is a must!! I did it last summer in august and totally wish I was riding my motorcycle! Definitely breathtaking and euphoric to the naked eye!!
Hi Orwell, when is this "hooman" gonna realise that you are the star of the show ..😎😎😎 Oh hello Steve , didn't see you there 🤣🤣🤣 Stay safe buddy, respect from the U.K.
I was in Montana just last week. What should have been a 8 to 9 hour drive to Helena MT took 13 hours due to the snow storms and bad road conditions, the full round trip was close to 1800 miles. Am in the process of moving from Idaho to Montana. Will be heading that way again real soon to haul more of our stuff up that way. Some of the thing's we have to bring up that way would be more ideal on your lowboy trailer. 5 pallets of concrete pavers, 4 ton skidsteer and a few attachments. We do have a trailer to haul that stuff, just not all at once.
Most of the rail roads in western MT and north idaho were used for hauling timber and wood products. There's fewer mills now since the industry has consolidated and is now mostly serviced by a few very large companies. They have the cash to build a few, very large modern mills that can replace multiple smaller old mills. So there's less need to haul timber out of the mountains to all those old mills and less need to ship rail cars of finished product out to the main rail lines.
Truckin" in Kentucky Valleys in January when the snow hits. Appalachia (Eastern KY Coalmine Truckin'). Its an everyday "thang" to continue on through our fears. The view out your window was like riding on a railine when they were vibrant. Stay Blessed!
😂😂😂Orwell 1984. Very cool name, speaks of the high intellectual level of the owner, hats off! Love cabovers, sad we don’t have the market for the new ones.
When safety mng at steel fab shop our driver went to a dam job site, to unload had to be let down very steep short grade by a D9 cat, when he came back told me he needed a mountain brake on the truck, I told him to go to Des Moines and get put on the truck whatever he thought he needed, I had no idea what a Jake brake was but he was glad to get one, yrs later as a driver going down steep grade in OR my Jake went out
14:00 beautiful scenery. First time viewer. I appreciate that you explain how you’re driving the truck & using the equipment - interesting for us regular folk to see. Many happy miles to you!
I hope "Jocob, of Jake Breaks" is filthy rich, because I've lived to tell how screwed I was coming down a small steep hill having chosen a lower gear "incorrectly". Also if not climbing a hill before heading down, more experienced might do the same so, no Jake brakes, or a semi in your living room; which do you want?

Best trucking channel on TH-cam
Rail and trucking. I think Steven just loves the transportation industry.
You mean there is a driver out there that actually uses a garbage can to throw away trash. Great video, did what your doing for 35 years!
Steve, welcome to my state born and raised here for 54 years. Still trucking all over our great state.
Spring's coming, renew,refresh and invigorate.
That´s one smooth running CAT. Love the gear changes as well
Yea buddy, shifting gears and Orwell takes a big breath of air and digs in. Awesome to listen too.

I heard there was some top notch fly fishing and salmon fishing up that way where the fish are as fresh as the water they were fished from.

Awesome video and Top landscapes. I enjoy also your older footage. The Orwell godfather t-shirt is very cool. I wish I could buy one. Greetings
I lived in NW Montana Steve - you're right, very beautiful, but very desolate as well.
Thanks for sharing 👍🏻. Love the forested mountain sides and tops.

Just an awesome video. Much respect from Nova Scotia, eastern Canada.
Yes sir just bought a R.I.P yellow cab over shirt and sent them 100 bucks ain't much but will help with some thing drive safe brother.
Excellent point about abandoned railroads. Sad to see the loss of businesses and communities as a result.
E ben bonito de verdad

You should tell everyone that there are different variations of "engine brakes" and not just Jakes. And that Jakes seem to work best.
Man I miss going to the 50,000 silver dollar place. I use to leave abt an hour from there and all thru there is beautiful country side.
Haters you better leave this channel or else!
Haters don’t belong here they don’t know anything about trucking!
Keep u the good work and block the haters Steve!
I Love Your Content, It's Just, Something About It Is So Good. Love Your Stuff Man, Please Keep it Up! be Safe!
Great video Steve
Orwell can definitely use a little love and bath when you get out of the snowy area.
I think it would be nice to go on a motorcycle ride through the mountains
Good content. I like the music at the end. 👍
Back in the day my dad shared a shop with someone. It burned to the ground. It is a sad thing when that happens. You lose your trucks, you lose your tools, your equipment, the whole deal.
I have to tell ya I drive a 2020 T 880 but I Love that truck you have I started driving in a WT9000 Ford Love cab overs and miss them
Beautiful countryside
Going to the sun road in west glacier is a must!! I did it last summer in august and totally wish I was riding my motorcycle! Definitely breathtaking and euphoric to the naked eye!!
Always sad when your vids come to an end . Love the music at the end of this one goes with the State! Be safe bro!
I want to move out there soon ,love Montana!
I live in Buffalo ny and I see that beautiful countryside every time I go to my summer place down by pa. Nice country views for sure
Not even CLOSE!! No place on earth like the Great Northwest!!
Lots of fishing, hiking and camping in the summer.
Truckin" in Kentucky Valleys in January when the snow hits. Appalachia (Eastern KY Coalmine Truckin'). Its an everyday "thang" to continue on through our fears. The view out your window was like riding on a railine when they were vibrant. Stay Blessed!
As a local. Ski and snowmobile in winter. Summer, fly fishing, off road trail rides, and camping. Hiking the back country.
You might look for stacks at The Big Rig Chrome Shop in Oshkosh. I know that is close to where you're from.
😂😂😂Orwell 1984. Very cool name, speaks of the high intellectual level of the owner, hats off! Love cabovers, sad we don’t have the market for the new ones.
best camera positioning out of all truck vloggers
When safety mng at steel fab shop our driver went to a dam job site, to unload had to be let down very steep short grade by a D9 cat, when he came back told me he needed a mountain brake on the truck, I told him to go to Des Moines and get put on the truck whatever he thought he needed, I had no idea what a Jake brake was but he was glad to get one, yrs later as a driver going down steep grade in OR my Jake went out
Used to run that route a lot back in the day. Haven't been out that way in a long time now.
14:00 beautiful scenery. First time viewer. I appreciate that you explain how you’re driving the truck & using the equipment - interesting for us regular folk to see. Many happy miles to you!
8 inch straight cut pipes with rain caps would look awesome. Can you mount the exhaust to the headache rack for tall mount
Steve, nice music at the end. ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
