Nice looking rig. Sounds like a truck. Not like these fiberglass and aluminum things they call trucks nowadays. Where did you guys go? It looked familiar. Company I'm with pulls reefers too. Hung out at Holstein a few nights over the years. Nice stop.

O-H-I-O Porter greetings.🇺🇸 That’s the right response when you see a cabover! I drove about 3 miles, flipped around & went back to the truck stop to catch up with a K100. I had my boys with me & we had a ball getting it on video. Cabovers Rule!Blessings.🥰🤩✌️

My first truck ride ever was in 1975, it was a 1973 cabover PETERBILT, hauling a milk tanker for IDFA, my husband worked for them, hauling from Florida to Wisconsin, I was 18, he was 20, what an experience, it got me hooked on trucking, I started driving trucks in 1979, still doing it today, but never driven a cabover.
    That was cool 😎

1972 I was driving a Kenworth cabover with a Super 250 Cummins and a ten speed (after a short time driving it It had a Super Something else name!). About a year later with a different employer a Mack cabover with a 13-speed behine a 325 Cat. I really liked that one. As you know changes took me elsewhere driving an International, can't remember the model (9600?) 350 Cummins and a 13 speed. That one rode nearly as good as the Mack. Thanks for the video and the memoies. Geeze, that was 50 years ago.

I can tell you now the cab over has no draw on me, started driving 1972 and that’s all I drove for years, live like a dog piss on a wheel is what I called it. It’s just a job that you love and do it because that’s what you love, the conventional was heaven, I see a cab over I say gosh I’m glad he’s driving that not me.

Hi Kurt. That is a gorgeous truck. I used to drive a 83 Peterbilt 362. It looked just like that one except it was white and had the big glass with 3 wipers. It was a double bunk
Meaning the bunk was wider I believe. It had a 350 Cummins and a 13 speed. Ok Kurt here's my story. We pulled in to the Cabazon truck stop near Palm springs California. the one with the big dinosaur's it was dark outside I opened the passenger door stepped out swung around reached out grab the bar and missed it I landed flat on my back. Thank God it was a dirt lot. I stood up shook the dirt off I was just happy I wasn't hurt. And glad no one saw me. Started walking to the truck stop looked over and there were 2 girls in a car laughing their butt off. I was pretty embarrassed.😂😂😂😂
But to this day cabovers have a very special place in my heart. I love the classic trucks. Thanks for the video it brings back memories. Great memories.

You're right Schmidt loved the video! I drove for about 10 years when I got out of high school. I drove an 86 KW CO with a double wide sleeper. V8 Cummins with a 13 speed trans. I LOVED that truck! When that truck finally quit they replaced it with a day cab 9000 Ford nose truck with a 230 Cummins and that sir ended my trucking career. I hauled oversized loads on the east coast. Thanks for the memories looking out that windshield again.

The first Big Rig I drove was an International cab-over with no sleeper. We called it a "half-shack". It was ideally suited for the two flat deck trailers we used because it kept the weight down to 110,000 lb. GVW which was the legal limit when hauling three steel coils.

Good 'ol Petercar cabinover-I called it a 352 but do see it's a 362-one of the last of 'em. One of them 'ol girls is up here in far North Idaho-even longer wheelbase-enough room for a drop axle-which it has ! Don't get the super long wheelbase-out West here-yes-but ya need 2 counties to turn the dang thing ! Started my driving in a '86 9670 Cornbinder in 1994. Short wheelbase cabinovers made ya look real good getting into & out of real tight spots-but you were also 1st. at the scene of an accident. And we won't even mention the ride.

Great looking Peterbilt. They have been my favorite since I was a kid. My mom and dad gave me a framed picture of a 379 with a stainless corrugated trailer, titled 'California Hauler'. It's hung on my wall ever since. My first ride was in an Astro 95 with a chemical tanker. Neighbor of my grandparents drove for Detrex Chemical out of Ashtabula. Lee was a Vietnam combat vet- and a surrogate dad when I was visiting my grandparents. Several other friends took up driving. I travelled, but in a service truck doing industrial and institutional service. Lots of road time. Didn't care much for the air tubes through the berth.
Thought it funny that many of the KW K100's paint schemes had the angled notch at the back of the sleeper to make them look like a Pete from the side.
    Thanks for the video.
    Blessings --

Thanks Kurt for sharing your ride in that cabover Pete. As my wife and I watched you climb up into the cab it brought back memories in the early 80’s as I was driving one as well. In 1979 I actually started driving a cabover Mack with a 5 speed transmission. When you said that you would probably fall out of the cab I remember watching young men as well as myself reach out and grab hold of the grab bar and slide down to the ground without using the steps. Of course you have to remember when winter comes you better be careful cause that bar would be icy. Thanks for the videos and pet Opie for us and we love you and your family.
