Thank you for showing us how to make the exchange. I couldn't find the information about the gear reference number. Could someone tell me the part number and name and if I can find it on Aliexpress? I'm Brazilian and there are no parts for the 1995 Mustang GT here.
5:31. You just broke your zero tabs for the speedo and tach. BE CAREFUL WHEN YOU HAVE YOUR CLUSTER FLIPPED OVER TO NOT BREAK THESE. But a tiny bit if super glue can do you good if you accidentally break them.
Excellent detail in this video as usual. Worked great. I did find some trouble removing that white electrical connection in the beginning. I also found it was easier to get the worm gear motor started on one side slightly then do the other side. I can see that little plastic lip breaking off. Great video!!! Keep it up. The thing that I like best in your videos is there is no shakiness in the camera. Thank you!!
Best video I have seen for this fix. Got the parts, ready to go. On the '94 just a tip on getting the headlight switch off. You do have to put a flat blade behind the metal tab and then push the tab forward and while doing that pull the switch outward. Make sure you have enough leverage while pushing on the tab otherwise it will just detach a little and not all the way. Just thinking...how do you know whether the little motor is not the problem? (My speedo and tach work fine).
+larry gk if your gears are fine and not broken then it could be the motor. But possibly the harness connection. But most of the time it is the gears and they break down
I wonder how many fox,sn95’s this has happened to and owners have ignored it to keep mileage down for when they sell it. Mine happened the other day. I only put 40 miles on it when it stopped working. Going to fix it today but now wondering how many stangs out there have true mileage unknown. Obviously carfax won’t know or the dmv. Scary thought right there.
You are correct and I noticed the same and wanted to comment so others attempting this don't have the same problem. I am about ready to do this repair and the needle stop breakage is something that is very worthy of calling out as I am seeing this referred to from those that have attempted this repair when I've been researching how-tos on this subject.
Trying to fix this cluster here. someone has soldered in two of the pins on the center piece. Any ideas on how to get this middle piece removed or do I have to melt the solder?
shelbo Carr If it is not attached to other important things, you should be able to use a needle nose pliers and just pull it off. but you will need to solder again so make sure you have a solder gun.
Can you help me. I have a 1998 mustang gt and in less then six months i have had to change the break light switch 3times .thanks for this helpfull video
So I have gotten the new parts. I took the old stuff out and swapped it in with the new stuff. When the thing is out of the car, with the new parts in, the gears rotate and the odometer goes up like it should. But when I put it back in the car it doesn't go up at all. Any idea how to fix that? Thank you!
adam thiry that's not your gears then that has to do with the sending unit on the transmision that sends signal/power to the gauge cluster telling it the car is moving if that goes out or has a short it won't send that signal anymore . I couldn't tell you off the top of my head what I think the name for it was but I'm pretty sure it's your vvi. There are forums all over the internet for that.
Hi Mr. Dane , could you please find the time to make a how to video on installing "reverse glow gauges" from AmericanMuscle.com on your mustang? I've had mine sitting around because I'm not to good with electronics. I'm sure you would love the addition to your car and have a whole lot of viewers from it.
thanks for the vid rykerdan, I subbed, I wasnt exactly sure what I need for my '95s odo and trip. but luckily I have a spare instrument pod so I can just grab the gears out of it.
TheRykerDane Hey RykerDane, I had to order some new gears because the ones in my extra pod were rotted out to. I put them in exactly like you did, but its still not working, ive changed the motor out back and forth and still nothing. Ive taken this thing apart and put it back together damn near 8-9 times. You got any ideas as to what else could be the problem?
Alexander Rahl If your motors are working then there has to be a short somewhere in one of your cables. Does you speedometer work too? backlight? Maybe check your fuse box too.
Just bought a 2001 mustang went to McDonald and scarped the bottom of my car ...at first it dident make any noise not until i made one stop at walmart when i camr back from walmart an i turned my car i can literally hear a ringing noise like something that mayne some will hear in a hearing aid or somthing i kinda found where this noise is located near the back bumper ....i dont think my back lights are makin this sound but its comjng more like its under ther car ....a couple of hours went by an i noticed a small grease spot on the ground near the back bumper an it looks kinda fresh though i b could be wron because i live in a apt an truthfully im not a car expert at all ..can anyone help with some knowledge thank u

good job. concise, clear and no BS or funny stuff.
Awesome video!! Did mine today and your video was helpful! Thank you!!
Do the electrical connectors have locking tabs that you need to push so as to get them out?
5:31. You just broke your zero tabs for the speedo and tach. BE CAREFUL WHEN YOU HAVE YOUR CLUSTER FLIPPED OVER TO NOT BREAK THESE. But a tiny bit if super glue can do you good if you accidentally break them.
Can’t even get them anymore

Thank you sir. Yes it was the gear set and it works great now.
My repair was on a 97 V6 Mustang BTW..
Thank You very much for this video, it was helpful. Blessings.

When can I get the parts? I have a 98 mustang.
Also do I need to grease it at all?
You can order online. Also they come with a light coating of oil on the gears.
+TheRykerDane awesome thanks!! Would the broken odometer cause a check engine light to go on?
that is a good question, but I don't think so.
Looks like you broke off your needle stop pegs.... They are bent at a 90* angle at 5:30
chester8420 No, I think they are still good.
TheRykerDane lol not the slightest. But whatever you say.

Oscar Bravo Brake light switch? as in your brake lights do not come on when you hit the brake pedal?
No the lights stay on even after the cars of
oh your taillights that stay on when you headlights are on too?
very nice I was afraid it would be much harder
Where did you order from? What happens if you mess up your current mileage reading?
uh oh, well, a few miles wont matter. You can order from American Muscle or CJ pony parts
The product list is very extensive. What are the names of the parts so I can search for them more quickly?
Doing this install soon as i get home.
Edub400 Good, its a lot easier than you think!
