Yeah the towers are different costumes in lyoko are different. The cartoon version action seemed more natural. And they don't look like they are in the same grade even.
Seeing that this show ends on a cliffhanger, (as well as few other differences) I like to think of Evolution as it’s own alternate universe rather than a continuation of the OG series. That’s what I think at least

Its set in a different era too from what i gather, retconning when Franz and Aelita first went to Lyoko and by extension the time when the og series takes place. And i read an earlier comment that the producer/creator of the original left early cause she the makers of this didn't follow her vision? Dunno how true that one is, but i think the timeline thing and the fact that there are novels that more closely continue the cartoons story and answers questions can mean one can dismiss evolution. It seems to have some cool ideas here and there and i appreciate the actors since they seem to be having fun and many of them ARE or were kids when doing this (even though i hate the idea of lyoko being live action itself). So I'll just see it as a harmless non-canon alt timeline thing.

I have to disagree there. It certainly looks better in terms of quality, but the animation itself is so stilted and artificial. It doesn't have the same charm and life the original had.

You gotta admit, the live action set really nailed both the exterior and the interior of the factory. They look exactly the same as the cartoon, but with more texture.
So I’ve watched the first episode of Evolution and here’s my honest review: We all know most things are good live action. However, most of the actors fit the look! That is very hard to do! The only problem for me here was Odd and Aelita. Odd has blond hair, but his personality matched with that of the cartoon version. As for Aelita, it must have been hard enough to find someone that looks good in short pink hair. The fact that there’s some sort of resemblance to the cartoon is impressive on its own. The setting in itself is the best part. Since the school and the factory are real (France), the viewers can genuinely see how the cartoon’s setting comes to life. As for the animation, it’s really good! I’m no animator, but to see the 3D aspect IMPROVE is a big accomplishment. Code Lyoko was one of the first TV shows to used 3D animation and to see it getting better and better from the first season makes it all worth it. Now here are my main problems: First and foremost being the factory itself. In the cartoon, the viewers saw the rustic look of the floors in the factory. However, the scanners and the computer lab itself looked and felt like a lie. I felt as if the keyboard was too advanced when in the cartoon it was simple like a regular keyboard. If I were the set designer, I would put a more blocky keyboard. The scanners and the animation for the scanners are hard to animate in the real world, and I think that was the main problem that set most people off. And I’m talking about when the scanners close. It feels off, and it set me off too. Second, the writing for the main plot just wasn’t enough for the viewer. For me, I wanted a logical reason as to why XANA could ever come back. A virus in their bodies? Not the most logical. If the writers added something that included some effects of being virtualized on Lyoko, I’m sure it would have made the plot seem a lot more full. The writers should have made the characters more skeptical about XANA returning; OR they should have given a better reason than “A red glow when they were scanned”. It creates a plot hole. The cartoon never showed any signs of red glows unless the super calculator was on the brink. As a result, this episode felt rushed, which made everyone both confused and upset by the result. The end of the episode is a great example. “The Lyoko Warriors are back!” With little to no space for any mood setting before the credits showed up. And lastly (one of the most important things) MUSIC. I hate to say it but music is everything in a show or movie. Without it, people don’t get any emotional appeal. When we all watched the cartoon, we loved the opening, we loved the William Battle Scenes, we loved all of the little cues at each point in the episode. When we don’t have those iconic music composition to complement the plot, we feel displaced. The music should have felt like an evolved form of the cartoon, whether it had the same key signature or used similar instruments. It put us in a weird spot because it’s the music that we remember the most because it’s directly linked to the animations and plot. Wow that was long so if you’re reading this, sorry. I respect it for sure. I treat this how I treat Korra in comparison to The Last Airbender in a way. Sure it won't be as good, but it has redeemable traits and it continues the story. For that we have to be grateful and remember that at least we got something

People try to make comparisons between Avatar and Korra but yet they’ll never be the same because they are two different shows based on different elements pointed and different audiences. Avatar was about Aang accepting the fact that he was the avatar and Korra was about a person who wanted to be the avatar but had a naive way of thinking what being the avatar was supposed to be which is why she found herself and grew more and more at the end of each season. On the other hand the creators did with what they could do because Nickelodeon didn’t really care for the show with Korra being a female character

Honestly that situation could have been easily avoided. Aelita was RIGHT IN FRONT OF THE TOWER AND WAS ABOUT TO ENTER IT but she stopped to fight the Megatank that took out Odd. She seriously could have just run right into the tower before the Megatank could do anything to stop her. It’s not like X.A.N.A.’s monsters have ever tried to follow her into the towers before.
Ep 1 Review: This episode was not bad but it could've been a lot better. The first missed opportunity was to not show how living without lyoko has impacted their lives. Instead we are rushed through without leaving room for character development and the super computer is back like nothing happened. All in all this episode is super rushed Final Score: 5/10 A weak premiere.
I mean it came out years ago with different staff in the office. Even the lead director quit production because it was going away in a direction she didn't agree with. I don't consider it cannon because of the inconsistentses. I only watch because it's something code lyoko
You know what? It may not be the best, some obvious cringy scenes in the series, but at least it's something I can watch that involves the crew again. Love it.
lol frfr... the acting is sometimes cringy, but my biggest complaint is the directing. the scene transitions and shooting is soooo poorly executed, I just can't. I wish it was filmed by Netflix/HBO/AMC

The animated bits are still pretty ok its the live action that leaves little to be desired maybe an english dub could fix some if the emotions but it still has core problems that i dont see getting fixed or expanded upon

Odd was always the shorter one in the original code lyoko. Plus, in its original version (French), Odd's voice is really high, like a guy who hasn't hit puberty yet.
I feel like what's special about Lyoko is missing here: the camaraderie and humor between characters. "Now we're grown up, let's be serious." They even cut the lyrics from the theme song.
This episode was meh. Good to see them act somewhat like their cartoon counterparts but I gotta point out some things. • The tower being black and not white is weird. I can’t get use to that at all haha. • Megatanks not making their laser more like the original was a bit disappointing but at least they power is the same. 100 LP damage. • Yumi’s Overwing just isn't it. The actress not even yelling when yumi throws her fans had me like 😅. • Aelita not doing her famous flip in the tower is the ultimate disrespect 😂😂💀.
I miss their original voices too. Somehow they seemed unique and memorable in the cartoon. And I still remember some of those lines in their voices. But I guess they did a good job acting like their characters.
I always hated the flip she does. Like, people are dying, why are you worried about doing little aerobatics. Still not as bad as early in the series, when she would just slowly walk up to the tower, slowly push her way through, then slowly walk up to the platform, etc... like PEOPLE ARE DYING RUN

For anyone who did not notice, the animated mouths are speaking English. Now with the official English subtitles you can see how the shapes and the words match PERFECTLY.
Sometimes yes (and with a slight timing difference), but sometimes it looks like the French version fits better (Yumi's lines for instance). I think they've gone with lip animations that could easily fit both scripts, to allow for lipsync fitting both the French and the (cancelled?) English dub.
At least this show has the 3D animation for the virtual world. Also it feels more like an AU of the show rather then the continuation. It’s too bad they can’t create a another Code Lyoko series ever since Moonscoop went defunct a few years ago.
The rights can be purchased from whoever gnabbed it when the company went under. Otherwise they’ll have to apply for a new patent. That is assuming French copyright is anything like the states
I'm not even a fan of evolution as with others. However it's SOMETHING code lyoko for me to hold on to! I hope a revival is possible in the future. That's all
Came here to say that its been 8 years and the actors Quentin (Ulrich) and Melanie (Yumi) are still together and had a kid recently! There's an interview where they talk about hiding their relationship early on during shooting but Diego (William) found out accidentally. He barged into Melanie's room to wake her up one day and found the 2 of them naked in her bed. Then he proceeded to sit down and chat with them like it wasn't strange at all 😂 If only the characters were aged up so they could have made this canon in the show
There's so many issues Evolution has that keeps it anywhere near the quality of the cartoon series but I can't say I hate it. The Lyoko scenes are a definite upgrade and I felt the actors/actresses for the most part are doing a fairly well job. (The actress who plays Yumi is beautiful!)
Honestly, this would be a lot easier to digest (as a hardcore Code Lyoko fan) if they didn't deviate from the original aesthetic so much. For me, one of the best aspects of Code Lyoko was that it mixed artificiality with organic design so well. - The sectors, while mostly plain and empty, resembled real world ecosystems. The towers were covered in what seemed like moss or tree roots at the bottom. XANA's monsters felt organic. The arm of a tarantula looked like it was woven out of the same muscles as ours. They're snouts covered in bone-like material. Megatanks, solid and dark on the outside. But flesh-colored strands reside inside them. A glimpse of which we catch when they prepare to attack. Crabs have freckles and spots on their shells, and softer, lighter, more vulnerable spots underneath. They felt like real creatures that could have existed on this Earth long ago. They felt like real creatures, recreated by an artificial being who's only contact with real creatures was through a quick Google search. The result is an amalgamation of organic structures, naturally reoccurring patterns, and cold metal appendages, added to weaponize them into mindless machines. - I'll never forget episode 36, "Marabounta". When i heard the screeches of XANA's monsters, that felt so real, yet sounded so robotic, i couldn't help but feel something. It hurt. To see them devoured by the same thing that threatened to consume Aelita only seconds ago. And yet, they kept fighting to protect Aelita. Of course, not out of the kindness of XANA's heart, it was for his own gain, but still. It showed that XANA could be reasonable when the situation called for it. He recognized the bigger threat, and stood alongside his enemies. - Back then, even the Lyoko warriors' outfits felt organic. Because they were personal to each character. The first outfits (seasons 1-3) didn't even feel like part of the same group. They felt amateur, even somewhat childish, fitting for then inexperienced warriors. But it's what gave them their charm. It showcased their culture, their past, their interests, things they like. - The second outfits (seasons 3-4) felt more unified, more mature. They've been in the business of ass-whoopin' XANA for a while now. And they've been in it together throughout. This is reflected through shared motifs across all four members' attire. More clear, one-toned surfaces, divided by clean lines. Subtler, more concise color palettes. It does give the outfits a more plain, artificial feel. But still varied enough between each member to keep it interesting. - They tried to re-create this feel for Evolution, but ultimately went too far. For Ulrich and Yumi, they stayed pretty close to their predecessors, but simplified them even more. For Aelita, they muddied her color palette with too many grey tones. As for Odd, they exaggerated his colors, teetering on the edge of eyesore. They overused his yellow accent color, turning it into more of a secondary color in his new scheme. All of the outfits feel same-y and oversimplified, yet cluttered with shapes and lines. Now everything feels so cold. - Of course this is just my opinion. And... WOW. This turned into a whole-ass analysis, sorry about that. I've been bottling these frustrations regarding Evolution for years now, and once i removed the lid, everything spilled out. I have more thoughts regarding this, but it's getting late. - I just want to say, i'm not hating on the creators, actors or anyone who worked on Evolution. I can see that a lot of work went into creating it, and i appreciate it immensely. As a fan who thought they would never get to see anything new created relating to Code Lyoko, i'm thrilled to see that a fandom still lives for this show. And that our passion was enough to spark the making of a 5th season for a show that has ended 5 years prior. Thank you to anyone who read through all of this, it means a lot.

I do feel that they could have done much more with the life action segments, but it's possible that they could not afford more than a handful of actors, especially if they weren't entirely sure on the reception it was gonna have. The acting doesn't feel quite right either.
Ugh.. Don't get me started on the last airbender movie. I saw it on the big screen and i was decked out in my ATLA stuff. The way how it started was spot on, but when they pronounced Aang "Ung", i was like "wth? Did they just mispronounced Aang?!" And through out the whole movie i wasn't enjoying it and ik other fans there weren't either. That was first movie i wasn't even happy upon leaving the theater (and it was on my birthday too at the time) v.v'

That's because the show was made in France and theres no English Dub for them. And it's kinda hard to Dub live Action when theres nothing masking the mouths, especially with those who know to Lip Read
Hm, as a recent Code Lyoko fan, I must say that I'm intrigued at this live action version. Sure, they did their best all things considering to translate the cartoon world into the live action world (with them even going as far as to recreate the factory, recreating the supercomputer and the equipment, and even keeping Aelita's pink, fluffy hair), but I'll admit that while perhaps they're not the best casting choice, I think the cast themselves did a pretty decent job on playing as their respective characters. With that being said, I do love how they used 3d animation for the Lyoko battle scenes. Not only is it faithful to the original series, but they've even upgraded the animation as well. I'll admit that I am a bit taken back at how they actually have pupils, but I think I'll gradually accept it as one of the many cute changes that I'll get used to (just like with Alita's eyes in the Alita Battle Angel movie). While a part of me agrees that Code Lyoko was something that didn't need a sequel, the fact that they went ahead and made it anyways actually makes me happy as a fan, and even though I have my doubts about the live action sequel, I'll still watch it anyways just because of how much I loved the original show. Plus, so far it seems alright, with a decent plot and explanation to tell us how their mortal enemy has returned. From what I heard and seen, though, I think Sissi went through some unnecessary changes or might've stayed the same, which is a shame, considering how the original version had her charm. I do hope that she'll be given some long-awaited character development, and would eventually join the Lyoko Warriors into their lives.
IF THEY COULD AFFORD THE SETS, MAKEUP ARTIST, COSTUME DIRECTORS, SPECAIL EFFECTS, THE NEW BEAUTIFUL 3D ANIMATION, ETC. then they could've done 2d animation. I really do think 2d would have helped the show internationally and would have gotten the old CL fans into evolution as well
Why is there a solid 5 year age gap between the actor for Odd and everyone else in this show. Fr Odd is played by a 11 year old meanwhile Yumi is played by a fully grown woman.

Its mainly the fact that you have to go in remembering its a continuation of a beloved cartoon that makes it feel off. But due to some lore inconsistencies im hearing of and the existence of the chronicles novels already concluding lyoko before evolution ever came out, i consider evolution non-canon anyway. So i just see it as a harmless, kinda fun side thing

Evolution is fine as it’s own thing, but when you compare it to the original cartoon, that’s really when the cracks start to show, as this series is RIDDLED with continuity errors. -It’s supposed to take place 1 year after the original series but it takes place in 2013 and the original series took place in 2004-2006. -Odd looks nothing like he did in the original series (I know he was never gonna look the same in live action as he did in the original series, but come on, they really couldn’t find a blond kid play him?) -The supercalculator itself looks nothing like it did in the original series and that panel was not there before. -In the original series towers NEVER had to be activated in order to be entered like they do here. And that’s just scratching the surface.
I just got into this season after finishing the final episode of Season 4 (the nostalgia made me cry like a little bitch for a few seconds). I'm gonna be honest, this might not hit the same for me, but I'm grateful that we have something for the amazing show that is Code Lyoko.

So I’ve watched the first episode of Evolution and here’s my honest review:
We all know most things are good live action. However, most of the actors fit the look! That is very hard to do! The only problem for me here was Odd and Aelita. Odd has blond hair, but his personality matched with that of the cartoon version. As for Aelita, it must have been hard enough to find someone that looks good in short pink hair. The fact that there’s some sort of resemblance to the cartoon is impressive on its own.
The setting in itself is the best part. Since the school and the factory are real (France), the viewers can genuinely see how the cartoon’s setting comes to life.
As for the animation, it’s really good! I’m no animator, but to see the 3D aspect IMPROVE is a big accomplishment. Code Lyoko was one of the first TV shows to used 3D animation and to see it getting better and better from the first season makes it all worth it.
Now here are my main problems:
First and foremost being the factory itself. In the cartoon, the viewers saw the rustic look of the floors in the factory. However, the scanners and the computer lab itself looked and felt like a lie. I felt as if the keyboard was too advanced when in the cartoon it was simple like a regular keyboard. If I were the set designer, I would put a more blocky keyboard.
The scanners and the animation for the scanners are hard to animate in the real world, and I think that was the main problem that set most people off. And I’m talking about when the scanners close. It feels off, and it set me off too.
Second, the writing for the main plot just wasn’t enough for the viewer. For me, I wanted a logical reason as to why XANA could ever come back. A virus in their bodies? Not the most logical. If the writers added something that included some effects of being virtualized on Lyoko, I’m sure it would have made the plot seem a lot more full. The writers should have made the characters more skeptical about XANA returning; OR they should have given a better reason than “A red glow when they were scanned”. It creates a plot hole. The cartoon never showed any signs of red glows unless the super calculator was on the brink. As a result, this episode felt rushed, which made everyone both confused and upset by the result. The end of the episode is a great example. “The Lyoko Warriors are back!” With little to no space for any mood setting before the credits showed up.
And lastly (one of the most important things) MUSIC. I hate to say it but music is everything in a show or movie. Without it, people don’t get any emotional appeal. When we all watched the cartoon, we loved the opening, we loved the William Battle Scenes, we loved all of the little cues at each point in the episode. When we don’t have those iconic music composition to complement the plot, we feel displaced. The music should have felt like an evolved form of the cartoon, whether it had the same key signature or used similar instruments. It put us in a weird spot because it’s the music that we remember the most because it’s directly linked to the animations and plot.

I respect it for sure. I treat this how I treat Korra in comparison to The Last Airbender in a way. Sure it won't be as good, but it has redeemable traits and it continues the story. For that we have to be grateful and remember that at least we got something

@@tahkaimartin8050 People who talk down on Korra don’t really understand the show and what the creators were trying to do. Your opinion is your opinion but I find myself explaining this all to often. People try to make comparisons between Avatar and Korra but yet they’ll never be the same because they are two different shows based on different elements pointed and different audiences. Avatar was about Aang accepting the fact that he was the avatar and Korra was about a person who wanted to be the avatar but had a naive way of thinking what being the avatar was supposed to be which is why she found herself and grew more and more at the end of each season. On the other hand the creators did with what they could do because Nickelodeon didn’t really care for the show with Korra being a female character

Honestly that situation could have been easily avoided. Aelita was RIGHT IN FRONT OF THE TOWER AND WAS ABOUT TO ENTER IT but she stopped to fight the Megatank that took out Odd. She seriously could have just run right into the tower before the Megatank could do anything to stop her. It’s not like X.A.N.A.’s monsters have ever tried to follow her into the towers before.
Ep 1 Review: This episode was not bad but it could've been a lot better. The first missed opportunity was to not show how living without lyoko has impacted their lives. Instead we are rushed through without leaving room for character development and the super computer is back like nothing happened. All in all this episode is super rushed

I mean it came out years ago with different staff in the office. Even the lead director quit production because it was going away in a direction she didn't agree with. I don't consider it cannon because of the inconsistentses. I only watch because it's something code lyoko

lol frfr... the acting is sometimes cringy, but my biggest complaint is the directing. the scene transitions and shooting is soooo poorly executed, I just can't. I wish it was filmed by Netflix/HBO/AMC

EDIT: Admittedly it isn’t as bad as expected so far. The live action segments just feel very weird.
The animated bits are still pretty ok its the live action that leaves little to be desired maybe an english dub could fix some if the emotions but it still has core problems that i dont see getting fixed or expanded upon

Odd was always the shorter one in the original code lyoko. Plus, in its original version (French), Odd's voice is really high, like a guy who hasn't hit puberty yet.

I feel like what's special about Lyoko is missing here: the camaraderie and humor between characters. "Now we're grown up, let's be serious." They even cut the lyrics from the theme song.
This episode was meh. Good to see them act somewhat like their cartoon counterparts but I gotta point out some things.
• The tower being black and not white is weird. I can’t get use to that at all haha.
• Megatanks not making their laser more like the original was a bit disappointing but at least they power is the same. 100 LP damage.
• Yumi’s Overwing just isn't it. The actress not even yelling when yumi throws her fans had me like 😅.
• Aelita not doing her famous flip in the tower is the ultimate disrespect 😂😂💀.

I miss their original voices too. Somehow they seemed unique and memorable in the cartoon. And I still remember some of those lines in their voices. But I guess they did a good job acting like their characters.
What gets me is that they made the towers cubed but didn't bother to change the cylinder shape once inside... 🤣

I’m glad to see old shows like this on TH-cam. Man....cartoons going live action. I’ve never watched before, so here goes...

For anyone who did not notice, the animated mouths are speaking English. Now with the official English subtitles you can see how the shapes and the words match PERFECTLY.
Sometimes yes (and with a slight timing difference), but sometimes it looks like the French version fits better (Yumi's lines for instance). I think they've gone with lip animations that could easily fit both scripts, to allow for lipsync fitting both the French and the (cancelled?) English dub.
Biggest surprise will always be Megatanks & Krabs In Sector 5😂

At least this show has the 3D animation for the virtual world. Also it feels more like an AU of the show rather then the continuation. It’s too bad they can’t create a another Code Lyoko series ever since Moonscoop went defunct a few years ago.
The rights can be purchased from whoever gnabbed it when the company went under. Otherwise they’ll have to apply for a new patent. That is assuming French copyright is anything like the states

Came here to say that its been 8 years and the actors Quentin (Ulrich) and Melanie (Yumi) are still together and had a kid recently!
There's an interview where they talk about hiding their relationship early on during shooting but Diego (William) found out accidentally. He barged into Melanie's room to wake her up one day and found the 2 of them naked in her bed. Then he proceeded to sit down and chat with them like it wasn't strange at all 😂
If only the characters were aged up so they could have made this canon in the show

I waited forever to see the live action. THUS IS KINDA LIT
There's so many issues Evolution has that keeps it anywhere near the quality of the cartoon series but I can't say I hate it. The Lyoko scenes are a definite upgrade and I felt the actors/actresses for the most part are doing a fairly well job. (The actress who plays Yumi is beautiful!)

Honestly, this would be a lot easier to digest (as a hardcore Code Lyoko fan) if they didn't deviate from the original aesthetic so much. For me, one of the best aspects of Code Lyoko was that it mixed artificiality with organic design so well.
- The sectors, while mostly plain and empty, resembled real world ecosystems. The towers were covered in what seemed like moss or tree roots at the bottom. XANA's monsters felt organic. The arm of a tarantula looked like it was woven out of the same muscles as ours. They're snouts covered in bone-like material. Megatanks, solid and dark on the outside. But flesh-colored strands reside inside them. A glimpse of which we catch when they prepare to attack. Crabs have freckles and spots on their shells, and softer, lighter, more vulnerable spots underneath. They felt like real creatures that could have existed on this Earth long ago. They felt like real creatures, recreated by an artificial being who's only contact with real creatures was through a quick Google search. The result is an amalgamation of organic structures, naturally reoccurring patterns, and cold metal appendages, added to weaponize them into mindless machines.
- I'll never forget episode 36, "Marabounta". When i heard the screeches of XANA's monsters, that felt so real, yet sounded so robotic, i couldn't help but feel something. It hurt. To see them devoured by the same thing that threatened to consume Aelita only seconds ago. And yet, they kept fighting to protect Aelita. Of course, not out of the kindness of XANA's heart, it was for his own gain, but still. It showed that XANA could be reasonable when the situation called for it. He recognized the bigger threat, and stood alongside his enemies.
- Back then, even the Lyoko warriors' outfits felt organic. Because they were personal to each character. The first outfits (seasons 1-3) didn't even feel like part of the same group. They felt amateur, even somewhat childish, fitting for then inexperienced warriors. But it's what gave them their charm. It showcased their culture, their past, their interests, things they like.
- The second outfits (seasons 3-4) felt more unified, more mature. They've been in the business of ass-whoopin' XANA for a while now. And they've been in it together throughout. This is reflected through shared motifs across all four members' attire. More clear, one-toned surfaces, divided by clean lines. Subtler, more concise color palettes. It does give the outfits a more plain, artificial feel. But still varied enough between each member to keep it interesting.
- They tried to re-create this feel for Evolution, but ultimately went too far. For Ulrich and Yumi, they stayed pretty close to their predecessors, but simplified them even more. For Aelita, they muddied her color palette with too many grey tones. As for Odd, they exaggerated his colors, teetering on the edge of eyesore. They overused his yellow accent color, turning it into more of a secondary color in his new scheme.
All of the outfits feel same-y and oversimplified, yet cluttered with shapes and lines.
Now everything feels so cold.
- Of course this is just my opinion. And... WOW. This turned into a whole-ass analysis, sorry about that. I've been bottling these frustrations regarding Evolution for years now, and once i removed the lid, everything spilled out.
I have more thoughts regarding this, but it's getting late.
- I just want to say, i'm not hating on the creators, actors or anyone who worked on Evolution. I can see that a lot of work went into creating it, and i appreciate it immensely. As a fan who thought they would never get to see anything new created relating to Code Lyoko, i'm thrilled to see that a fandom still lives for this show. And that our passion was enough to spark the making of a 5th season for a show that has ended 5 years prior.
Thank you to anyone who read through all of this, it means a lot.

Yeah, the animation has the characters emoting perfectly unlike with the live action portions.

I do feel that they could have done much more with the life action segments, but it's possible that they could not afford more than a handful of actors, especially if they weren't entirely sure on the reception it was gonna have. The acting doesn't feel quite right either.

Ugh.. Don't get me started on the last airbender movie. I saw it on the big screen and i was decked out in my ATLA stuff. The way how it started was spot on, but when they pronounced Aang "Ung", i was like "wth? Did they just mispronounced Aang?!" And through out the whole movie i wasn't enjoying it and ik other fans there weren't either. That was first movie i wasn't even happy upon leaving the theater (and it was on my birthday too at the time) v.v'

That's because the show was made in France and theres no English Dub for them. And it's kinda hard to Dub live Action when theres nothing masking the mouths, especially with those who know to Lip Read

Hm, as a recent Code Lyoko fan, I must say that I'm intrigued at this live action version.
Sure, they did their best all things considering to translate the cartoon world into the live action world (with them even going as far as to recreate the factory, recreating the supercomputer and the equipment, and even keeping Aelita's pink, fluffy hair), but I'll admit that while perhaps they're not the best casting choice, I think the cast themselves did a pretty decent job on playing as their respective characters.
With that being said, I do love how they used 3d animation for the Lyoko battle scenes. Not only is it faithful to the original series, but they've even upgraded the animation as well. I'll admit that I am a bit taken back at how they actually have pupils, but I think I'll gradually accept it as one of the many cute changes that I'll get used to (just like with Alita's eyes in the Alita Battle Angel movie).
While a part of me agrees that Code Lyoko was something that didn't need a sequel, the fact that they went ahead and made it anyways actually makes me happy as a fan, and even though I have my doubts about the live action sequel, I'll still watch it anyways just because of how much I loved the original show. Plus, so far it seems alright, with a decent plot and explanation to tell us how their mortal enemy has returned.
From what I heard and seen, though, I think Sissi went through some unnecessary changes or might've stayed the same, which is a shame, considering how the original version had her charm. I do hope that she'll be given some long-awaited character development, and would eventually join the Lyoko Warriors into their lives.
My fanfic will Sissi have as a Lyoko warrior.
To be fair the last thing Odd said to her in season 4 was ‘you’d look better as a blonde!’😂
IF THEY COULD AFFORD THE SETS, MAKEUP ARTIST, COSTUME DIRECTORS, SPECAIL EFFECTS, THE NEW BEAUTIFUL 3D ANIMATION, ETC. then they could've done 2d animation. I really do think 2d would have helped the show internationally and would have gotten the old CL fans into evolution as well

Why is there a solid 5 year age gap between the actor for Odd and everyone else in this show. Fr Odd is played by a 11 year old meanwhile Yumi is played by a fully grown woman.

You know what, after skimming through a few other episodes, Evolution is alright as its own thing. Its mainly the fact that you have to go in remembering its a continuation of a beloved cartoon that makes it feel off. But due to some lore inconsistencies im hearing of and the existence of the chronicles novels already concluding lyoko before evolution ever came out, i consider evolution non-canon anyway. So i just see it as a harmless, kinda fun side thing
I agree. Evolution is fine as it’s own thing, but when you compare it to the original cartoon, that’s really when the cracks start to show, as this series is RIDDLED with continuity errors.
-It’s supposed to take place 1 year after the original series but it takes place in 2013 and the original series took place in 2004-2006.
-Odd looks nothing like he did in the original series (I know he was never gonna look the same in live action as he did in the original series, but come on, they really couldn’t find a blond kid play him?)
-The supercalculator itself looks nothing like it did in the original series and that panel was not there before.
-In the original series towers NEVER had to be activated in order to be entered like they do here.
And that’s just scratching the surface.

I just got into this season after finishing the final episode of Season 4 (the nostalgia made me cry like a little bitch for a few seconds). I'm gonna be honest, this might not hit the same for me, but I'm grateful that we have something for the amazing show that is Code Lyoko.
