    Whether you’re making roasted potatoes, potato soup, breakfast potatoes, mashed potatoes, or plenty other things… knowing how to dice potatoes is important, and I’m gonna show you how to do it. Let’s get started.
    Last week I talked about how to cut potatoes into french fries. Well this week I’m gonna show you how to cut potatoes into cubes, also known as dicing. And next week, maybe I’ll talk about potatoes again! We’ll see… I love potatoes so deal with it!
    Before me I’ve got a cutting board, a large sharp knife, and two potatoes-one medium and one small. The size of the potato doesn’t matter when dicing so it’s a great way to use up smaller potatoes that aren’t good for baked potatoes or french fries.
    I’m gonna first demonstrate a large dice, and then show how to do a smaller more fine dice.

    • @DennisfromScratch

      I usually use organic potatoes, so I only wash them if there’s a lot of dirt. If I’m using industrial (non-organic) potatoes, I always wash and sometimes peel them since they come in contact with pesticides and other chemicals.

    Every time I cut a potato it all sticks to my knife and makes a starchy mess, not sure what I’m doing wrong. I usually wash them then peel first.

    • @DennisfromScratch
      @DennisfromScratch  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      You’re probably not doing anything wrong. You might try rinsing your knife a couple times while cutting, or possibly putting a light coating of grease on your knife (butter, lard, olive oil).
      Another option is to change the knife you’re using. My friend is a professional Cutco representative, and he likes to use the cheese knife for cutting potatoes because it prevents the potato from sticking to the knife. Here’s a link to the Cutco cheese knife, but any cheese knife will work. www.cutco.com/products/product.jsp?item=cheese-knife
