What Did I Just Capture on My Trail Cam? Game Cam Reveal

  • For four weeks in 2024 I left had a game cam at the edge of my property ninety yards from my house in Seward, Alaska. I set it up pointing at a game trail. What sorts of Alaska wildlife might I capture? Would I capture black bears? Moose? Coyotes? Wolves? Maybe even a grizzly bear or brown bear? A group of meth heads? I had no idea what to expect, and as I first started to sift through the images it seemed I had only captured a few of the neighborhood pets. Finally, after nearly a month I go and retrieve my camera and reveal what I captured. Needless to say, I was a little surprised by the results....

      It was definitely a surprise! This neighborhood is not known for having brown bears. Unfortunately this is very close to my house. I probably wont go back to that part of the property again without better protection.

      It would make sense except we dont really have mountain lions in Alaska. I guess they have been spotted once or twice but it's extremely rare. My guess was a bear encounter she managed to escape from.

    Maybe the Coastal Brown Bears aren't as grizzled and angry as the inland Grizzly Bears. Hopefully having a better and more accessible diet makes them a little less angry as ours.
    We just had a mother and her two cubs go on a rampage in South West Alberta and kill 22 sheep on May 30th, then 2 people were attacked on June 11th in Waterton National Park on Ruby Ridge
    At the end of last year, in October of 2023, a couple were killed in Banff National Park, also in Alberta.
    It seems these inland Grizzlies are getting pretty grumpy, especially here in Alberta

    • @AlaskaBrian
      @AlaskaBrian  6 วันที่ผ่านมา

      Yikes! Yeah bear attacks are very rare here. Coastal browns are typically bigger than grizzlies, because they had such an abundant food supply, and also less aggressive. Still, would NOT want to get near a mother with her cubs. I definitely realized I need to be a lot more careful back there

      Some really cool pics, especially the Grizzly bear and her cubs. As for the Hairy Man or as I call them Forest Giants, I would much rather be close to the Hairy Man than any Moma Grizz. If the Hairy Man doesn't want you around he will just throw some stones or rocks at you or scare the hell out of you by paralleling you back out of his territory. Unlike the Moma Grizz which may just kill you or injure you bad.

    • @cbrippee
      @cbrippee 16 วันที่ผ่านมา +1

      @@Rosesraspberries72 Maybe I will give Mr. Fred Rhoel a listen. It is amazing that they can endure the long and cold Alaskan and far north Canadian Winters, and yet others ones seem happy in tropical Florida. There is a big population of them here in Ohio and maybe even more in Kentucky, winters are much more mild and abundant forest and rivers.
