Marco Hofschneider I'm afraid not, the Canon website states that your warranty will be voided if you don't use a Canon branded steak knife to take your camera apart.
Thank you for a great video. You helped me save a much cherished AE-1 Program, took me 4 attempts, I think I was to skimpy on the oil. I used RemOil and my Camera fires like new. I just can't get over how easy it was. You ROCK !!!!!
Fixed! Thank you very much! For the ones who still have problems, the point is to achieve inserting the needle all the way in. Try a little, when you'll insert it in the proper place, you'll notice it
Thank you!!! when i buy ae-1 program i'm confused about this weird sound, but i think this is normally for this camera and still shooting couple of months scaring people around me, and now i fix that problem, thank you man!
Fixed! I saw a bunch of methods getting oil in through the top, then I saw this and another website that showed how to do it through the bottom (much easier). Thanks.
Bernd Retif the reflex mirror bearing was intended to be oiled in this manner as per the canon service manual. If you want to take apart the whole camera to get to it so you can see where the oil is going, be my guest.
I did it and it work, too late to know that wd-40 is bad cause thats what i used....but the video is clear and i also didn't know what i was looking for but i had an idea , no more squeak on my Canon A-1 / Canon AE-1,both are working like new. Thanks a lot Dude...
My Canon AE-1P has the same problem, now i just need to find myself some weapon oil and get my hands on work (i hope i dont do anything wrong...). Very helpfull video, congratulations.
I couldn't fix mine. 2 inch needle. insert all the way down. tilt to the left and put oil in. I still have the squeal after quite a few attempts. any tips?
@AnalogSLR Vielen Dank!
I bought an SRT 101 with 5 lenses and and case for $66 on ebay, try to buy a whole camera setup, Camera, winder, lenses and flash, filters, strap and bag as a set. it's cheaper than buying piece by piece. usually $75 to $150
Painful to watch. Unscrewing with a knife and dropping oil wihout being sure where it falls...I'm note sure I would recommend following the recommanded cure....
Can I use a regular screwdriver instead of a steak knife?

Did this just now and it worked perfectly. The mirror moves ten times faster than before and there is absolutely no squeaking :-) Thank you so much!

Sowas bekommt man in jeder Apotheke.

Other than the terrible sound, does the 'shutter skueak' affect the performance of the camera?

THANKS ! it worked perfectly !
@AnalogSLR tnx! btw i did repair my canon, thank you for that video!
please demonstrate how to remove the mirror cage from a Canon FD [Ae1 or A1]!
@AnalogSLR Could you give an example of a good oil? Would something like "Parker Hale Youngs 303 Gun Oil" be ok? thanks
Nice tutorial, would this help to free a jammed shutter?
did you try with the AE-1 Program? Have the same question
what music did you use in this video?
i can't really see it in this video, but what does the thing look like that i'm trying to hit with the oil?

Hai, kannst du mir sagen welches öl du genau benutzt hat, und ob auch silikonspray auf gleiche weiße angewendet gehen würde ?

Go with the Minolta X-700, XD-11, XG-1, X570 or Pentax K1000 their cheap and lenses are cheaper than canon or Nikon. just my thoughts.
yeaah!!

This is totally ghetto. Using a fucking steak knife to unscrew those screws??? WTF
K&D!!!!!!
no that's bad. when I buy a camera and I see the screws all fucked up, it pisses me off to think how some people treat cameras...
