I have followed your process and repaired 4 Canon cameras. 2 A-1s, an AE-1 Program and an early AE-1. Many thanks to you for your clear and descriptive videos.
glad it was helpful !!!
I just received an AE-1 program that has this issue, gonna try it out
Really helpful!! Thank you very much
Well, I just uploaded a new one, a full repair tutorial
When is your video on the light seals coming? Hyped to see that. Very nice repair method on the squeak!!
Working on it. Thanks for your comment.
Just to tell you it will be online in a few days ;)
Awesome! My A-1 is about to be fixed.
Remember : Just a mist of oil, not too much
Hello there! I also have this camera, but there is a little issue. The LED display inside the viewfinder doesn't work (sometimes it does, just for a second). Is it possible to fix that? Thank you
rule number one when electronics go awol : Check the contacts. I'd check the leaf contacts underneath the shutter button.
Hello.. I have a machine similar to this one but there is a fault in the LED photometric ruler.. nothing lights up but everything works normally except the LEDs. Can you help me?
I'm sorry, never had this issue on one of these...
what oil did you use>?
Sewing Machine oil is what I used. Only a mist is needed. A fried of mine also got good results with clipper oil
where do i get the syringe from?
it's a normal syringe you get from any pharmacy. I bent it myself.
what if there is oil coming through? Perhaps I added more than necessary
You'll get oil streaks in the mirror box, common issue with people who use too much oil. Not the best thing, but it will work.
I had the same thing happen to me. I'm having oil come into the mirror box. I'm currently leaving it open and soaking it up every once and a while with cotton. Did you have any issues in the long run?
This is really not the right way to fix this. You need to remove the mirror box.
Ok, why ?
@@MrAnalogDan12 Because it's the correct way to do it. It's the way Canon specify fixing it, it's the way any trained technician would have fixed it.
I absolutely agree that it can deal with the problem, but it's not cleaning away the old dirt and oil and it's shooting blind.
@@jonathand435 okay, thanks for your comment !
Nobody wants to spend that kind of time doing it. So bugger off.
@@driline What a wonderfully informed comment.
