So lovely. Quiet elegance. I especially like the box cubes and your ferns.❤ I'm missing my box plant clipping this year as we were hit by box caterpillars last summer and all was lost😢. Had to remove the lot and don't want to risk replacement. So now I have a box free garden which is very strange. Nothing is quite as good...

Hi and thank you so much for your message. I think the trick with pots is if you go out and see some grab them. You will always fill them. No matter where I go shopping I am always drawn to the pots section especially the ones on sale. All the best 🌱Chip
Hi Sarah, thanks for your lovely comments. Thought I should help out with the digging and planting and let chip do the creative stuff. Have a lovely gardening week. 🌳🌳🌳🍀🍀🌾🌾🌾🤗🤗😀👍
Hi Sarah thanks for your message. Yes gypsy boy did a great job with the box. I think hostas being in pots helps, also I put sharp gravel on the surface of the pots. But still from time to time they will get eaten. I suppose it comes with having hostas. I suspect in a couple of weeks more and more holes will appear. Putting gravel around the bottom of the pot really helps. Hope this helps. Have a lovely day. All the best 🌱Chip
Beautiful shady sanctuary which has given me inspiration for my garden. Great job transforming the boxwood. What brand of hand shears did you use? They seem lovely and sharp. Recent subscriber enjoying your content. Thanks

Found this wonderful garden searching for ideas for a very small courtyard I shall be moving to soon. It’s beautiful. I wondered how big it is size wise? Mine will be very tiny, about 35ft wide but only 12ft deep so though West facing, no sun really due to surrounding buildings and trees. I’d love to post a photo as I really don’t know where to start with my new garden. But if you have any thoughts on a very shallow garden, it’s just a strip really? I’d be most grateful. It also has a 6x4 shed which I feel is overwhelming. Lots to think about, thanks for sharing your lovely garden.
Hi Paula , thank you that’s so very kind of you and also for your message , mine courtyard is around 15 deep and 20 feet wide, so a bit smaller than yours, it sounds like you have a wonderful project going on and I would love to see pictures 🤠 I may be able to help with some ideas and advice 👍🏼 good luck with it all and have yourself a great day 🌱 Chip
@@ChipsGreenWorld So kind of you to reply, Chip. I’d quite like that extra 2 ft on the depth of my new courtyard to come but your photos do give me such hope and inspiration. I hope to be moved in the next month so will keep in touch and send some some photos. It would be lovely to hear what you think and how I can improve it from what it looks like now. Have a lovely week.
@isobeldunn1866 yes it’s raining here in Yorkshire too and it’s making all the green pop in the courtyard 🌱🌳✅ looking very fresh indeed 🌱 enjoy your rainy day 🌱 Chip

Hi Chip from NC USA, I was wondering what variety of fern you have so many of? The very upright tall ones. Also what is the purple vine blooming on the fence? The new Garden is looking great.
Hi in NC USA 🇺🇸 thank you for your message the ferns are Shuttlecock ferns they self seeded in my old garden and as they are so beautiful I dug them up potted them and have travelled with me 👍🏼 the vine is Potato vine it also comes in white it is beautiful needs no care making it the ultimate India summer plant Hope that helps , have yourself a wonderful day 🌱 Chip
Hi Rex and thanks for your message, the fern is a shuttlecock fern this like many of my ferns self seeded in my old garden , and as I love it so much, I dug it up and planted it up with many others for my old Courtyard garden , since has traveled with me in it pot All the best 🌱 Chip
Hello! I just came upon your video. This courtyard is lovely. In what area are you living, is it a climate that stays warm all year? Enjoy your Gin & Tonic.
Hi there and thank you for your message, a bench would look fabulous in that space , but it wouldn’t be ideal for sitting and enjoying the view as you would just see the back of the house where we do have a lovely bench against the house wall looking forward onto this fabulous courtyard view, and as a bonus it gets the sunshine for most of the day 🤠 a much nicer spot 👍🏼 I will probably so more on this end of the courtyard as the project develops.. all the best and have a wonderful day 🌱 Chip
Hi there and yes indeed solanum , I just call it the Potato vine , it got so big in the last 3 years it covered most of the courtyard , I gave it a hard prune back in autumn and now it’s looking gorgeous again and hopefully I will keep it at this high now, thanks for your message and all the best 🌱 Chip

So now I have a box free garden which is very strange. Nothing is quite as good...
Awww Bertie that’s so sad to hear, i feel for you as I would be lost without my buxus 🤞 hopefully you will find a good substitute soon and your garden will thrive and look better than ever 🤞🌱 wishing you all the best and a great gardening year ahead 🌱 Chip
Nice. Would like to see your seating area. Love the height layering of the pots. Such a calm space :)
Very peaceful and nice courtyard.
Absolutely beautiful ❤ I live in the desert so I don’t think this would work for me-one can wish or pull up your video 😊.
Awww thank you that’s so very kind , and I’m so happy you’re enjoying the channel ..
That does sound like a project I would love to try.. 🤔 ( A garden for the desert 🌵)
Maybe one day .. giggles 🤭
Have a wonderful day and all the best 🌱 Chip
So beautiful. Thank you for sharing.
Awww thank you so much, and your very welcome indeed 🤠 all the best 🌱 Chip
HI Chip, I enjoy watching your videos. I'm inspired by your use of pots for trees and ferns and hostas. Where do you find such lovely pots.
Hi and thank you so much for your message. I think the trick with pots is if you go out and see some grab them. You will always fill them. No matter where I go shopping I am always drawn to the pots section especially the ones on sale. All the best 🌱Chip
Love the courtyard. Winters are too cold in Canada for a lot of those pots, I will give it a shot though. Thanks for sharing.
i like the plants among the rocks and mosses. they look very natural. do ferns need a lot of shade? mine aren't growing well.
First time to your site. I love your courtyard garden! Spud was the star, however. She definitely approved! 🐈⬛❤
Awww thank you Laura 🤠 that’s really lovely of you to say I will pass it on to Spud 🐈⬛ have a wonderful day and all the best 🌱 Chip
This is so amazing. I love it
Awww thank you so much Geraldine , that’s really kind of you to say 🤠 much appreciated and have yourself a wonderful day 🌱 Chip
Stunning ❤
Thank you so very much Wayne 🤠 that’s lovely to hear .. all the best 🌱 Chip
Just wonderful chip. Gypsy boy done good too by planting the box. 😊 Why do your hostas look so lush...mine always get eaten by slugs.😢
Thanks
Hi Gill and welcome to the channel 🤠 thank you so much and so glad to hear your enjoying the videos , the Shears am using are Spear and Jackson , all the best and have a wonderful day 🌱 Chip
Lovely courtyard 😍
What kind of spray nozzle are you using on your water hose?
Clearly Spud observes and has opinions. 😄
Thank you❤
Awww thank you Suzie 🤠 much appreciated 🌱 Chip

Hi Chip from NC USA, I was wondering what variety of fern you have so many of? The very upright tall ones. Also what is the purple vine blooming on the fence? The new Garden is looking great.
Hi in NC USA 🇺🇸 thank you for your message the ferns are Shuttlecock ferns they self seeded in my old garden and as they are so beautiful I dug them up potted them and have travelled with me 👍🏼 the vine is Potato vine it also comes in white it is beautiful needs no care making it the ultimate India summer plant
Hope that helps , have yourself a wonderful day 🌱 Chip
Exquisite! Please share the name of the beautiful upright fern (the tallest of the ones you installed today)? Thank you
Hi Rex and thanks for your message, the fern is a shuttlecock fern this like many of my ferns self seeded in my old garden , and as I love it so much, I dug it up and planted it up with many others for my old Courtyard garden , since has traveled with me in it pot
All the best 🌱 Chip
@@ChipsGreenWorld Thanks so much!
I am thrilled to see you back online. The courtyard is not only beautiful, but inspiring to the viewers out here. Can’t wait for the next episode.
Awww thank you Carole that’s so kind of you to say, and very much appreciated, have yourself a magical day and all the best 🌱 Chip
Hello! I just came upon your video. This courtyard is lovely. In what area are you living, is it a climate that stays warm all year? Enjoy your Gin & Tonic.
Hi there and thank you for your message, I’m in Yorkshire in the UK so no not warm enough .. and very cold wet snowy winters , all the best 🌱 Chip
I THINK A CUTE ENGLISH BENCH WOULD HAVE BEEN NICE BACK IN THERE .
Lovely! Thanks for sharing. Your climber is a solanum? Do you know what variety? Mine just got 15' tall and leaned!
💚🌞
Thank you 🤠 have a great one 🌱 Chip
