This was a fun video to do. Thanks for giving me the opportunity. I have a few more coming ya'll's way packed with educationaly material about surf fishing.
Nice job Very informative obviously skilled with what you do SS needed more surf related content great organization for all salt water inshore anglers! Great spot for a son to grow up in TU
Im excited for more content. As a member of salt strong I love all the inshore knowledge I've learned. But end of the day I still do way more surf fishing than anything. Great video my friend.
Like most live baits, you may get multiple recommendations but I always hook them through the bottom(where their legs are underneath the shell) all the way through their shell and out the other side. Make sure you run the hook all the way through because they can free themselves if you do not.
@@danaluannhanna8523 I know they’re here where I fish at the NC/SC border…other than that I’m not sure. I usually use 1 1/2 oz to 2 oz. I try to use as light a weight as possible without the bait immediately getting blown back in by the surf.
I would like to see a video of you catching sand fleas on the shores of South or North Padre Island TX. I've been told that these beaches don't produce any sand fleas. But I once caught one by accident and it was big like the ones you showed in your video. So I believe where there is one there is more.
With fiddler crabs, I keep them in a minnow keeper, with enough water for them submerge in, but not so much that they'll drown, and I'll usually leave a stick in there for them to climb up out of the water on. I guess these are different. They will really die after just a little bit in water?
When i was a kid we would wait in the water and move on them from that side. Not sure if these are the same thing as what we called “sand crabs”. They would make a big “V” also in the receding wave.
I bought a cheap one from Walmart. I have no problem digging them up once u find them. Like u said once u notice it u can't unsee it. If I have some shrimp I will throw then out first and while I wait and watch ill sometimes blind rake and find a small amount. No matter what one u get make sure u rinse it off. Salt water murders everything it touches

Thanks for the specific advice for catching and keeping fleas.
I live in Oklahoma, nowhere near saltwater, and this is one of my favorite channels. Thanks for sharing y’all’s knowledge and experiences.

Great! Me too, man. I love the yak, but at the end of the day there is nothing like the beach.
HOW DO YOU HOOK THEM...? THANX

@G0rilla216 THANK YOU SIR...👍😎
How much weight do you use? Do you want them to stay put or move with the current?
How much weight do you use? Do you want them to stay put or move with the current? Am from Ma. Are they basically everywhere there’s beach?

Great idea about keeping sand fleas alive. If you have any ideas like that about storing ghost shrimp I would love to see them.
Thanks very good flea info!!! How about the preferred bait & tactics for Flounder/Fluke in surf? ❤
I caught dozens of these today with my kids using this tip to locate them . Thanks
Great! I have a few more in the pipeline. I'm so glad it was helpful.
Great video! I've been watching your videos for about a year now. I'm thrilled to see you as a part of the salt strong team!
Me too, man. What an honor.
Sand fleas are my Go-to up hear in the Assateague MD/VA area, nothing better!
Used to live there roughly 3 years ago. Great bait. I live in alabama along gulf coast now..... still great bait lol
They really are. Thanks for watching.
Well spoken, good information, THANKS!
Great video-thanks for the tips!
My thoughts exactly.
Thanks for watching my friend. Stay tuned for more.
Great informative video
Excellent, thank you!
Dude!!! Thanks brother 🙏
Welcome to the family🎣💪👊
Good stuff. Thank you! One key question: how to you fish them??

nice tip on the sand fleas. I wonder if that will work for mud crabs.
Also, the younger soft sand fleas are more of a target than the older hard shell ones if you don't get bites.
Cool man!!
That was hilarious. You don't need to run up to get them. After a minute, just stand there and don't move and you can get them.

Not necessarily. Their pee kills tem faster. Just keep them washed down.
Welcome to SS. Look forward to more content from you.
Maybe a silly question, but anyone use these up on NC area
My father and I have been using them for years. If you don’t have a sand flea rake, you can use a kitchen strainer.
Yes they work great
They work all the way up into maryland where I used to live
Finally a beach guy!!
I saw the push. Beach fishing. I rasied my hand lol.
What's the best hook placement, would've been nice.
I got a video coming on that. Stay tuned my friend.
Coming soon.
Those are bigger than the ones we get here on the west coast. We use them for stripers and surf perch on a fish finder rig in the surf.
When i was a kid we would wait in the water and move on them from that side. Not sure if these are the same thing as what we called “sand crabs”. They would make a big “V” also in the receding wave.
I believe so. Mole Crabs, sand Crabs, sand Fleas.
Where can you get a solid rake, like you have? I’ve came across cheap ones. That will not dig like yours
Until you find a sturdy one…you can use a kitchen colander or a kids beach pail with strainer bottom.
I bought a cheap one from Walmart. I have no problem digging them up once u find them. Like u said once u notice it u can't unsee it. The one I use comes from Anglers Fishin Mate.
Cant find them on fort myers beach...???
Those are huge!
Things get big in the south lol.
😎
Just throw them in a basket and bowl and put it in a fridge
In California, you can only have 35 sand fleas on you at one time. Stupid laws, big fine. Go figure.
Great info !!!
