  • This video is about the new South Omaha Terminal CF7 that was just finished for the Stockyard Industrial Lead. The video shows how the Athearn Ready-to-Roll locomotive was repowered with Kato parts from a Stewart F7 and the SoundTraxx Tsunami2 DCC/Sound decoder. Then we do a little test run on the layout of the CF7. This locomotive will share switching duties with the SOT GP9. It is painted in a newer scheme that is based on the Golden West Service, since the SOT is partially controlled by the SPSF.

    I added this video to my Favs folder so I can refer back to it in the future. Being new in HO I have four locos , various brands, none have sound. Sound was one of the main selling points for me to switch from 20 yrs in N scale to HO. So, I'll be like a sponge, when it comes time to add sound to my roster, trying to understand what has to be done. Thank you for sharing what you did on this CF7.

      Excellent, glad this video could be so helpful for you! Sound definitely makes it more fun and it is super easy to do in HO Scale!

    Looking Good Eric.. And on the Speaker If your Ears are like mine.. And mine are sensitive I understand wanting to Remove it and Grabbing ahold of another one thats sharp little Engine and watchin switch sessions to me is just as fun as to watching mainline Running you get see the Engine really show its Qualities backing up catching the cars & placing them where they need to go and Sound Engine set up correctly with that protothrottle you hear the Engine idle up & then down you hear the Breaks setting the Air Releases its fun to watch these type of sessions can't wait to see more..
    Take Care.. And on my La Junta Hutch & Pratt mini Sub Division.. I'll do some Yard moves as Well let me what you think.. Hope you & your Family have A Safe Merry Christmas 🎅 Allen D. RDA N Scale

    Great work Eric. Nice progress with the loco and I did hear a little crackling sound coming from that sugar cube speaker as I watched your video. Hopefully it will be an easy fix for you. Other then that awesome as always. I know the pioneer valley RR in Westfield Ma. Has a few of those units and they look pretty cool to me. The RR I'm modeling at the moment does not however I could see myself in the future purchasing one and using it for an interchange job. So will see. Anyways thank you for sharing and I look forward to seeing more updates on your layout. I'm still playing around with JMRI and for the most part I have somewhat of a grasp on the program however there is definitely a lot more to learn🤦‍♂️🤷‍♂️🤣 Take care and Happy Modeling!! -Jason

      Thanks! Yeah, I think it will be an easy fix. I am looking at replacing it with a solid iPhone speaker, I have had better luck with those in the past. Good luck with you if you decide on the CF7 and hope you can find one easily!

      @@emillerz that will be cool if you use an old ph speaker. Look forward to seeing that. I have an old oh kicking around and might try an experiment. The CF7 project might be awhile however it is on the list of things to acquire down the road. I can also look back at this vid for some tips.

    Repowering your CF7 with the guts from a model F7 is somewhat fitting, since CF7's were converted from F7's to begin with.

      It totally is! And that's another reason I like it. And the driveshafts are the perfect size for the new chassis.

    Nice work Eric! I really couldn't hear the static. Dan from DFW

      Thanks! I don't think the static comes out as strong on the video for some reason, but believe me, it was starting to get a tad annoying! :)

    What ballets do you use?

    • @emillerz
      @emillerz  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Do you mean ballast? Recently I have been using JTT Products ballast/gravel, which is also the same as Bachmann gravel. It comes in a variety of colors and is real rock, so it goes down nicely.

    I did not see if you used a sound chamber for your speaker. I have found that the speaker will triple it's out put with a better sound chamber. I have make mine from styrene. Here is a link to a guy that I learned how I did mine. Check his channel out. He has a lot of great ideas. th-cam.com/video/RGIofHmyZLw/w-d-xo.html
